Reviewing the medical literature I found out there was a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of my condition. After multiple phone calls to clinics offering dermal fillers (mostly for cosmetic procedures) I found the practice of Dr. Anna Sylwestrowicz, MD . The office was very accommodating with my unique inquiry and agreed to meet with me just to discuss my diagnosis and treatment plan. One of the most vital requirements for a good medical outcome is a solid 'Doctor-Patient' relationship that starts with an open and frank discussion. I found my conversation with Dr. Anna (as she prefers to be addressed) to be all a patient could ask for. We jointly came up with a plan, discussed the various dermal fillers on the market, her experience with their use, possible outcomes and hoped for outcomes. I agreed to the procedure. Three weeks before the start of my hike, Dr. Anna injected my left heel pad with dermal filler. The procedure itself was tolerable and I walk out of the office with an order to 'take it easy' with my walking. For the first 5-6 days I was sore at the injection site but that was too be expected. After a week, I restarted my daily dog walks (much to the pleasure of our Doodle) and gradually increased my mileage. On April 23rd, 2026 I found my self hiking south on the Appalachian Trail from the small village of Damascus, Virginia. I was planned on keeping my daily mileage under 20km while carrying 15kg of pack. At that point, my heel was pain free. I hiked for a month pain free. I ended this section of the Trail in the very tourist town of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This was a distance of 400km-pain free! Considering the pain, I was in prior to the injection of dermal filler this was a remarkable medical outcome. I am very, very pleased. As for the future, there are 333km left for me to complete. My appointment was scheduled for 9:00 a.m., and I received an initial acceptance notification, followed by a confirmation request earlier this week, which I completed. I also received another notification the day before my appointment and assumed it was simply a reminder. When I arrived for my appointment this morning, I discovered the salon did not open until 10:00 a.m. After checking the most recent notification, I realized my appointment had apparently been cancelled the previous day. I acknowledge that I should have opened and reviewed the final message more carefully. However, I believe the larger issue is that an appointment time was made available that could not be honoured, and no one contacted me directly to apologize for the inconvenience or attempt to rebook me promptly. When customers have scheduled services well in advance and confirmed their attendance, a last-minute cancellation deserves more proactive communication. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling that customer service was not a priority. As a result, I would not feel comfortable recommending this salon to others. Additionally, the appearance of the salon entrance was concerning. The hallway contained multiple fly traps covered in flies taped to the windows and hanging from the ceiling. The third time, just a sticky note saying "understaffed, appointments only and to call the Sechelt location. -I called asking what was going on and if I could get a refund or extension since I tried numerous times to use my package. It's only for a month so I only have so much time to use it and when the hours on google are posted as OPEN, I should be able to access the beds. Owner Lauralye replied by email, said I was being aggressive on the phone and banned me. Completely false information. I never even raised my voice so this one threw me for a loop. When I kept asking for my money back, she permanently banned me in the same email thread. They offered a partial refund which was never received. I left a 100% factual 1-star Google review with receipts attached they got it removed/hidden. Now they are leaving themselves fake google review. Laughable. When I kept pushing, they threatened me with legal action and accused me of being "aggressive" (I have every email -- I was nothing but polite the entire time). Zero refund, zero apology. So yeah - they have no problem stealing people's hard-earned money, then threatening to sue you if you dare speak up. I cannot believe I have to go through this for ninety-three freaking dollars that they simply decided to keep. I have my receipt, and the entire email chain (including the ban, the legal threats, the fake "aggressive" accusation, and the deleted review). Happy to privately show everything to anyone who messages me. Please think twice before you hand this place any prepaid money - tanning packages, gift cards, whatever. I've now had to file with Civil Resolution Tribunal (CRT) and my credit card company for a chargeback. Just posting this so nobody else in Gibsons loses almost $100 and then gets threatened for daring to complain. Sad that it has come to this but I have exhausted every option and tried my best to deal with this privately. Unfortunately I have been pushed too far. It's almost Christmas and these days, every dollar makes a difference. This is my hard earned money after all.
