Let me be blunt: Crescenta Valley High School has some serious problems, and the worst of them lurk in the PE department. If you think your kid will be in good hands here, think again. The PE program is a complete disaster--outdated, lazy, and run by staff who seem more interested in power-tripping than actually educating students. But the biggest red flag by far is Coach Mendoza. I don't know how this man still has a job. His behavior is inappropriate, creepy, and wildly unprofessional. He talks down to students, makes them uncomfortable, and seems to get off on embarrassing kids in front of their peers. He has no sense of boundaries, and it's an absolute disgrace that the administration continues to let this slide. What's worse? Everyone knows and no one does anything. Complaints get brushed off, students are told to "deal with it," and the toxic culture just keeps going. It's like the school operates on a "protect the adults, ignore the students" policy. Newsflash: students aren't stupid--they know when a teacher's behavior crosses the line. And Mendoza crosses that line. A lot. If you care at all about your child's well-being, do not ignore the warning signs. This school might look shiny from the outside, but once you're in, it becomes clear just how broken some parts of it really are. I went to this school in 2015-2019 and this school is horrible. The teachers do nothing and are absolutely terrible to the students. Some teachers don't respect their student's IEP and some teacher's yell at people and threaten to exclude students from asb related activities just because the teacher that runs asb is on a power trip. The counselors dont do squat. Some of the APs yell and antagonize others students. One time it got so bad the school sheriff had to pull one of them aside because they threatened to spy on a student through the security cameras. The school protects bullies and the bullies run the school. My experience got so bad that two people had so many mental breakdowns and panic attacks that they had to switch schools or be home schooled. The one person who bullied me and these people has bullied every single person in the school including threatening to fire teachers whom spoke out against them just because the aps protect them so much. There are so many problems at cv and they continue to spend their budget on stupid crap! There are literally no working water fountains and they literally have dollar tree level school dances. The only thing I liked about the school was there were good teachers like Mrs.Brown and Mrs. Workman who actually are supportive and helpful. Overall, I didn't have a good experience and needed a lot of therapy and mental health support due to the relentless BULLYING that the faculty did NOTHING about. read more

I attended a HS soccer game that was held on the football field. Parking options are horrible. Your better off parking on the bridge overpass on Ramsdall St. then walkup to field area for entry. Luckily there was one open pedestrian gate to enter the field, otherwise you have to walk through a very tall, one person security turnstile. Good luck trying to lug chairs & a canopy through that turnstile. The field & track is nicely maintained, with very limited seating options...small 4 pods of 5 row bleachers. But the beautiful mountains backdrop view makes up for it. read more

Review is specifically for CV's track. Used it often during the summer break to walk/jog during the evening hours. I enjoyed it because there is a rubber track, walls to play tennis/handball/whatever on, a large field where plenty of people played soccer, tossed baseballs, and simply stretched or sat around to talk. Lots of people were usually present from around 7 PM to 9 PM, and the field "closes" at 10 PM (stadium lights turn off but if you don't mind being alone in the dark, then by all means...). There's a lot of company, and you feel safe and active the whole time you're there. It's a great fitness area. read more

So this is probably one of the most unusual ratings I have written. Yet I feel extremely compeled to discuss Crescenta Valley High School as the perfect public fitness site. Why am i writing this seemenly pointless rating? It wasn't until I ate about january 3rd (when I ate a 10 person worth meal) that I realized how out of shape I in fact was. So I decided to exercise. Crescenta Valley is simply the perfect place to exercise. The secret is going there at night! Yes... during the day the place is full of kids training. BUT once the teams are gone, they have 4 full basketball courts, 4-5 tennis courts, a soccer field, a football field with fake turf, 8 walls so you can hit your tennis balls, and a wonderful track field with a nice flooring and a wonderful view of San Gabriel Valley on a 360 degrees panel of vision. Night working out is fun because the place is FULL of people who seem to be having a blast. Families go there... friends... dates, why not. One time I saw a birthday party (with cake and everything) by the benches. If the exercising is not enough motivation for you to get your butt ouf of the sofa, the hot people exercising should definetely be. However, keep in mind people are still working out. Fascilities are great (not like my old high school). I suppose the city receives tons of tax money to keep the school in great shape. Lights shut down at 10PM everynight. Keep that in mind. Parking: free, but make sure you park on Ramsdell Ave. 4 stars for great facilities, motivation given by the people who go there for the same reason as you, tennis courts, Nice view of San Gabriel Valley, and stars you see at night. read more

CVHS is my alma mater. Boy i dont miss this place at all! Plus after their remodel a few years ago, i get lost. Their track field is a decent place to exercise at night, we used to walk the track and make out with boys by the basketball courts. haha read more

Some of the school staff needs to get a better training and up-to-date information. They can not just pass the parents around to another staff to brush it off their shoulder. Need to be more helpful and guide the parents as far as school registration or class enrollment goes. when asked for clarification on the email... the counselor secretary told me to read the email over and over until I understand it :( because counselors can not see 700 students :( read more

They need signs for the track. Walkers need to stay out of the inside lanes. And literally everytime there's two ladies who walk the opposite direction, and for some reason they like the inside and middle lanes, even if the track is busy. So only at a leisurely pace they go against traffic and in the wrong lanes. Very frustrating. No clue what their deal is or why they feel the need to get in everyone's way. They aren't blind, so there's only a couple other words for them. Also please watch your kids, the drivers are ridiculous here. If the small parking lot fills up, they just drive up on the walkway and park. read more

This is the best public high school in the area. Great bang for your (parent's) tax dollars. 9/10 would pay property taxes again.

The track facilities and the football/soccer fields are very nice. I come here often and run around the track on some evenings. The CV girls/boys soccer teams practice here, so the field is usually occupied and busy on their practice nights. The falcons track team (for kids) also practices on the track on some evenings....and the place becomes a zoo. read more
