I spent the last two nights at the Crest Hotel. When I checked in on Monday evening, I was pleased to discover that I'd been upgraded to a suite. Sweet! The bed is king-sized. The bathroom has a window that opens into bedroom. It was has a soaker tub (which I used both nights) and a glassed-in shower. There is a desk and fake gas fireplace. There is a balcony that overlooks the harbour. There is a mini fridge and the stuff isn't overpriced like a lot of places ... $2 for a can of pop, $6 for a beer, $2 for a bottle of water, etc. There are two restaurants in the hotel. I ate at both. The food was good and the servers very friendly. In fact, everyone in the hotel from the front desk to the maids are friendly. The hotel is next to a bingo hall/slots (I didn't check it out). There is a mall about a five minute walk away. Cow Bay, which is a cute area for shopping and restaurants, is a ten minute walk north. I flew in and the bus that takes you across the ferry to Prince Rupert lets you off at a hotel about a ten minute walk away (or a $5 cab ride). My only complaint (and this knocks my rating from a five star to a four star) is the Internet. It's included in the cost of the room and you need a password to get in which is provided when you check in. I got connected no problem. But every page I tried to go to directed me back to Crest's homepage to accept the rules, etc. I would hit "agree" and then get an error page. I did this about ten times trying IE and FireFox. I called the front desk who gave me the number for technical assistance. I got cut off both times when I was talking to him. The guy was nice enough to call me back after getting cut off the second time but by then I was tired (it was after midnight my time and I'd been travelling for 12 hours). I used my Bell Internet stick instead. I was here on business so being able to use the Internet was essential.

The view was enjoyable but the food wasn't... Prices for the breakfasts were not okay and the breakfast was ass. Dry French toast, very gross chewing feeling in the mouth Eggs Benedict were prepared poorly, presentation of the food looked dull and unexciting, eggs were poached terribly and hollandaise was runny just a waste of eggs. Don't be hesitant to coming to the Crest Restaurant but be careful of what you eat All in all this place is ass NEEDS NEW MANAGEMENT...

Pros: It is in downtown core of Prince Rupert The rooms are comfy and clean The staff are very friendly Water is available downstairs Free apples and sometimes oranges Walking distance to restaurants Cons: internet is not the fastest and disconnects sometimes Sometimes they run out of parking spots house keeping is a hit and miss. (one time I ran out of toilet paper and they didn't change it) Note that floors 5 and 6 have been renovated. Anything below 5 really need some love. The bathrooms in rooms below floor 5 are outdated and the floor and walls are laminate with a bit of mould. Any time you are staying on the floors 5 and 6, it is super nice. Tiled bathtub, granite tables and bathroom counter and etc. Also only floors 5 and 6 have microwaves. If you need to use the microwaves on the other floors, you would need to go downstairs. Too bad no poke gym here. I highly recommend staying here. My favorite is getting the chance daily coupon.

We loved the complimentary breakfast and conversing with the ever friendly woman that services the breakfast room. Always smiling, pleasant, happy, and customer oriented. The front desk and maids were the same. LOVE THE BED!!! Slept so well. Free Wifi, large flat screen tv, nice size room, ac and heating, and parking in the back. The only disappointment was no guest laundry facility, resulting in me walking in the rain across the street to get my laundry cleaned. This hotel would be 5 stars if guest laundry was provided. conveniently across the street is Tim Horton's, Shoppers Mart, Dollarama, Good location.HIghly recommend, but beware of the large tour groups from the BC Ferry. We would wait to come dow for breakfast after the tour group leave.

This hotel is way past its prime and is about to cross the line from shabby to seedy. The place is filthy from top to bottom. The exception was the linens; the bedding and towels were clean, but the cracks and crevices and edges and corners were filthy, from the elevator to the rooms to the bathrooms it was bad. The lock set on the bathroom door was falling out, the edges and corners of the floor by the tub were gross with accumulated dirt and grime, the edges like the doorways were just packed with dirt and filth, the caulking in the tub wascovered in mold and mildew, the bathroom fan vent obviously hadn't been vacuumed in ages The electrical outlets are worn out and loose; our cell phone charger fell out several times, scary There is no AC and the one tiny 8"x16" window that opened to allow some ventilation didn't even have a screen The restaurant attached to the hotel has awful prefab food and was a huge letdown Sadly there were not many available options in Prince Rupert but I would NEVER stay here again and I would discourage anyone from staying here I will say the maids and maintenance people I spoke to were much more friendly than the zombies at the front desk, but it's obvious they aren't doing their jobs
