In the past, I've suffered pretty bad from allergies but this season has been the worst! It is almost impossible to get an immediate appointment at Elgin AFB, so this place was a lifesaver. Aliason Heather Overton listened to me, took my past experiences with allergies into consideration and came up with a great solution for my problems. The only thing I've found a problem with is that they can't seem to keep the same Doctor or NP there for long. That's the main reason I don't go there more often. I just wish they could find someone who would hang in there & stay around longer. Every time I think they have learned how my body works & understands me & I think I have learned how they think too then I have to start over with a stranger again. I know it may or may not be their fault cause people tend to be moving from job to job these days & I know it's a walk in clinic but I still would like to see a familiar face stay longer. I was really upset and the Chief of staff plus a nurse stood with me and told me exactly what was happening. He then spent 2 days in ICU with the best care he could have gotten. When his alarm went off for his heart adjusting to proper blood flow and not adjusting, the nurse came right in to explain what was happening and that it was normal. This visit was when we found out they no longer take my hmo insurance through Florida blue. Great. $150, but it's an emergency so I obliged. Very aggravating though :) We see the doctor, she's great. I say it's impetigo. She agrees, but didn't do any more thorough inspections of her own, so I assume that's definitely what he has. She prescribed him a topical ointment. We have been applying as needed every single day since, and it hasn't gotten better. It's not horribly worse, but not better. I call back August 7 (today) asking if there's any way we could be prescribed antibiotics because HE STARTS SCHOOL IN 4 DAYS. the nurse says "if you hold I will speak with a doctor and see what he says." *5 seconds later* "sorry ma'am you're going to have to come in for another check up" ma'am, it's only been 5 seconds, there's no way you talked to a doctor... she gets defensive saying she doesn't know where this conversation is going and that she doesn't have the energy to argue. I hang up. No resolution. Only money to be spent. Idk. Maybe this is just the American health system, and they don't do pro-bono or help those who really can't afford healthcare without insurance. I'm a single mother on one income and have spent $450 in the last week, including this last visit, on top of school supplies and clothes shopping for my son. Didn't think asking for an oral antibiotic required another $150 appointment just to be like "yes you're right, here's a prescription for amoxicillin" please do better. Not everyone can pull money out of their ass, especially when you stop taking their insurance a day before they show up for a walk in appointment.

I've been a patient for years and my Dr. recently left, no big deal, it happens. My well check is…read moreannually around July, and had labs done then as well (7 mos ago). The issue I have is that they refuse to authorize my pharmacy to a refill of a prescription for a low dose statin that their Dr. prescribed (for a one year term refilled every 90 days) without seeing me and getting new labs - In other words, they want me to pay for an appointment and new labs that my insurance will only cover once per year....because their employee left. But they have the labs, which is what providers use to determine whether the prescription is warranted. Statins are literally the most prescribed medication in the US and they have all the evidence to validate a simple refill but are trying to force me to pay a significant out of pocket expense to get it.

Mind you it's hard to diagnose something if you don't actually examine it. A procedure, antibiotic shot and other meds prescribed by a different competent urgent care was what was needed. Drive a few more minutes. It may save you!!! I will never recommend this place or go here again.
