I am hitting six months(god willing) clean tomorrow. I was here August of 2024. This is an institution style rehab. Three to a room on the women's floor. They work NA, which is honestly pretty rare. Most places focuses on AA, and that would be a mistake for the clientele. Food is VERY good. There are lots of speciality groups. For example: Grief and Loss, LGBT, MAT support, separate women's and men's groups, creative expressions, etc. You can work in the kitchen, supply closet, reception, and a few other jobs. I didn't really understand the point but it's probably good for you haha. 99% of staff is in recovery. I've heard their detox rocks. I didn't detox there. Cons(for me): there is a no communication rule that honestly sucks. They don't separate men and women for the med line, groups or even meals(women sit on one side though). However, it is expected that we don't talk to one another. Ever. Except in group, but even that is iffy. Get caught enough, privileges are revoked. This rule backfires, because the clients end up sneaking around and acting like teens instead of grown adults. Also, there are wayyyy too many clients for the amount of staff. There are interpersonal issues, but there are everywhere. Rose, one of the facilitators, is very judgmental towards women. It is common knowledge that she flirts w the men and she was caught sitting on a clients lap. Honestly, that's insane to me. There are a lot of repeat clients that treat this place like a flop house. Also, books that aren't about recovery or religion are banned. Let me read about dragons!!!!! There are going to be problems everywhere but this facility can help you if you allow it. For a state funded rehab this place is pretty damn good.

The world is a difficult place and it isn't about handouts.. it is about HELPING your fellow human being. Some people don't have families to run to and have to find other resources... Luckily, the Interfaith Food Pantry is here to help. This branch in Studio City serves Studio City and North Hollywood whether you are homeless or stuck in a poverty rut without food. Every Monday and Friday, from 10am-1pm , the First Christan Church (on the corner of Moorpark and Colfax) opens its doors to help those in need. You bring an ID/ proof of residency (different branches of Interfaith help different geographic locales so it goes by zip code) or the homeless just state their situation. Interfaith works on the honor code since no one would be so cheap as to pretend to be homeless to gain some canned goods. (It provides pop-open canned goods for the homeless). Everyone gets two bags. Generally a brown bag with canned goods, some pasta or beans, canned tuna, etc and a plastic bag with bread from stores such as Trader Joe's and Whole Foods (seriously). These are the breads that "expire" that day from the grocers so the food bank picks them up. The plastic bags also feature any other bakery goodies they gain like cupcakes, coffee cakes, etc. No meats or milk but this isn't a grocery store. No thrills, no fuss, JUST HELP. Bless the people with hearts.

There were people coughing, talking to themselves wandering through every aisle, which made me feel uneasy and constantly looking over my shoulder. I originally came to exchange an item from a different location because I thought this store might have a better selection, but that wasn't the case. There is also what looks like a homeless encampment along the street side of the store. Inside, there were people hanging out at the dining tables (for sale), which made it hard for actual shoppers to move around. I even saw at least two people stuffing items into duffle bags. The exchange process was quick and easy, and the staff handled that part well. However, the store really needs some type of security at the door to better manage who comes in and prevent the issues happening inside.

My review is specifically for the ER department…read more I truly try to be understanding because I know hospitals are understaffed, overwhelmed, and the staff deals with difficult situations every day. I've always remained polite and patient during my visits. But after multiple experiences here, I honestly feel like something needs to be said. Every single time I've come to this ER, the wait has been excessive -- usually 7+ hours just to be seen or placed in a room, followed by several more hours waiting for updates or care once inside. I understand emergencies happen and patients are prioritized by severity, but the overall experience feels extremely disorganized and lacking compassion. The waiting room is consistently dirty and overcrowded, with visibly sick people sitting for hours without updates. What bothered me most, though, was the attitude from some of the staff at the front desk. Patients and family members asking simple questions are often spoken to like they're inconveniencing the staff just for needing help or clarification. During my most recent visit, I spent nearly 10 hours there before eventually deciding to decline admission and go home. I was placed in a room without a pillow or blanket and asked three separate times for a blanket, but was ignored each time. No one expects perfection, especially in a busy ER. But basic compassion, communication, and respect should still exist. People come to the emergency room scared, sick, in pain, and vulnerable. The way patients are treated matters just as much as the medical care itself. I genuinely hope this department improves, because no patient should leave feeling dismissed, ignored, or like they were a burden for simply needing medical help.
