We have been working with Crimson for over a year now. From consultant and strategists to subject teachers, my child has a well-rounded support team. When I first met our consultant, Kate introduced me to Crimson's programs and plans. At that time, I honestly didn't expect activities like the Capstone project to achieve much. Our Capstone teacher, Kay, guided my child patiently, step by step, helping her step out of her comfort zone to create her own project. Kay never imposed their own ideas on my child but instead encouraged her to develop her own thoughts and write her own plan. In the end, my child's Capstone project achieved tremendous success and was even featured on the front page of our local newspaper. My child's strategist Lucia has also played an important role. She helped my kid explore books she enjoys, encouraged her to write blogs, and even guided her to publish articles in professional journals. This year, Lucia also supported her in applying to Ivy League summer programs. What I really appreciate is that the strategist never told her exactly what to write, but instead constantly encouraged and inspired her to express her own ideas. Many people say that these are things we could have done on our own--so why Crimson? First, the professional team helped us organize and access more targeted resources, saving us from searching aimlessly online. Second, as a child, I believe she is much more willing to listen to professionals than to her parents. The teachers come from all over the world, and I think it's also very important for children to be exposed to diverse cultures. For example, our entrepreneurship teacher Tess is a British teacher living in Indonesia. She shared many fun stories about life there--like how during the day, while in class, they could hear monkeys calling outside the window. It was truly unforgettable. Crimson Education Review - A Journey from Uncertainty to Success After hearing strong recommendations from a few senior parents, we decided to explore Crimson along with a few other college counseling options. Following the initial consultations, we chose to move forward with Crimson. The first couple of years were focused on building Our Daughter's profile with a mix of guidance, mentorship, and strategic planning. While there was some mentor churn during this phase, which made the process feel a bit uneven at times, it was still a step in the right direction. However, the churn during the crucial application phase was particularly frustrating. We raised our concerns directly with Crimson's CEO and COO, and I must say the response was swift, thoughtful, and transformative. What followed was a significantly improved experience. Even though our team was spread across Korea, France, and California, while we were based in California, time zones never posed a problem. When we needed guidance, feedback, or simply reassurance, the team was always available, flexible, responsive, and genuinely committed. I've seen forum posts worrying about time zone differences, but in our case, having a global team actually became a strength. It created an "around-the-clock" support model and brought diverse perspectives into essay reviews, which enriched the final outcome. The entire team, including those we interacted with directly and those working behind the scenes, went above and beyond, not just during the application season but also as results began to roll in. Crimson unlocked the doors to Harvard, Stanford and the Robertson Scholarship to Duke University. I was looking for full financial aid or a full scholarship to a US university, which meant targetting universities with acceptance rates of as low as 5%. Furthermore, I am from an area with very limited support for US applications - no one from my school had ever applied for university in the US. These things combined, I knew that I needed support from mentors at Crimson to be a seriously competitive applicant. This was absolutely confirmed during the application process. I came to Crimson late in the year so unfortunately didn't have an opportunity to receive career or extracurricular guidance, but I worked with two Harvard students to establish my school list, understand and edit my essays and prepare for the interviews, as well as perfecting every aspect of my Common App. It was inspirational to work with such ambitious students that were rooting for me throughout the application cycle. One example of the support was that my school reports had been released during the week of the application submission. My teacher couldn't upload my school report because the file was too big (the Common Application portal is a notoriously difficult experience) so my app consultant and I frantically found a way to add the document: I ended up printing it, scanning it, and then sending it to the teacher to upload. It was very stressful at the time because the report is a crucial element, so the support was great to have. I can't be thankful enough for Crimson helping me navigate such a life-changing journey. I have kept my relationships with the mentors I worked with, I learned an immense amount about myself during my Common App process and receive great university offers. Basically, we liked and benefitted from Crimson Education, especially the founder is such a friendly person with a great character. We prefer Crimson Education because we had an excellent impression of him. Despite some negative experiences with several remote coaching staff, we still refer to others about this organization for valuable resources and a couple of good tutors we luckily had. Unfortunately, at the same time, we also had very disappointing and shocking experiences with some local advisor and remote tutors for their coaching qualities: Constantly making obvious typing mistakes; Often not following the pre-informed rule regarding the time-line for communications; Often forgetting what they are doing and forgetting student's profile information; Ridiculously reacting with a political inclination and attacking word; Not encouraging and helping the student release stress, but pushing down the student's fighting spirit for college goal and making the teen student crying; Ignoring student's or parent's emails or messages; Not having an open heart and willingness to accept feedback for improvement... read more

It was entirely by chance that I stumbled upon Crimson Education almost three years ago. The culture in my high school in New Zealand was one in which everyone went to the local university. After discovering Crimson Education, my eyes were really opened to all of the opportunities that were actually available, both in America and around the world. After guiding me through an intensive leadership development program and SAT tutoring, I ended up getting into NYU Stern. I'm incredibly happy with this result and absolutely love the student experience at Stern (despite currently being in a bit of a time crunch for finals). I think the best result hasn't necessarily been getting into my dream school but instead, it's been the steep learning curve and personal development that I experienced while in the Crimson leadership and tutoring program. We are down to the wire - its less than 4 weeks to Early Admission and Early Decision deadlines for colleges and our strategist Jason C who has been consulting with us since the beginning of the year (8 months) had been working with my daughter on a shortlist of colleges given her capabilities and at this last minute changed this list without too much guidance of a new list or explanation, leaving us directionless, discouraged and her most of all, devastated. Instead we are asked to come up with a list - how does that sound for a college counseling place that charges about $10k? I have raised this concern weeks ago and a month later, here we are without a revised college list to apply to, and no strategy in place. Essays are due. Deadlines are looming. Our Student Success Manager who coordinates is gone for the month of October. It seems these people work part time. When a pressing email is sent, days go by without any response. And after numerous attempts, the needle hasnt been moved, the request unmet. We think this has been smoke and mirrors all along and very disjointed. read more
