They incorporate everything from kettle bells to bosu balls. The trainers are helpful, where they will point out how you can do an exercise better without making you feel like an idiot. Classes are small so you get the attention that's needed. I've made some great friends here, learned a ton, not only about exercise but also nutrition and health. Love this place...

This place was a joke!…read more I have done plenty of Bootcamps in my life and I can't believe these guys actually have paying clients... I paid $20 for 5 classes via Deal Canada.ca and I still feel thoroughly ripped off. First off there is the Website. A jumbled nightmare sales pitch more concerned with talking about "why we are better" than provide basic info like parking information, instruction on getting into the building (which was locked upon arrival) or the fact that a mat is required! I was expecting to have a registration session. This would be where you'd be measured, weighed and given a waiver to sign... none of that was done. What if we would have gotten injured in class? Instead, when we walked in the instructor was eating and telling us he hated DealCanada (awesome... nice to meet you too!) He tried hard to get to know us... too hard even. Barking out our names as some kind of turrets mnemonic device he had created for bootcamp (see... we ARE better!) The bootcamp lasted about 45 mins! The "warmup consisted of swinging our legs front to back than side to side... TAH DAH you are warm right?! Then we used resistant bands, puny kettle-balls and medicine balls. There wasn't enough equipment for everyone so some of us had to struggle with weights too heavy or breeze through with weights too light. I broke a sweat during the floor work because frankly my core sucks but for the most part my heart rate stayed pretty mellow. If this was a decent workout I shouldn't be able to have a full conversation with full breath. In fact I was able to come up with witty quips for every time our idiot instructor decided to randomly say my name, ask me stupid questions or tell the class he hates Yoga (really?!) My favourite part of class was the "stretching" at the end where the instructor said: "Just stretch what needs to be stretched" and watch us do whatever stretches we knew. In my opinion this is a terrible workout, and in some cases dangerous as I saw older woman adopt terrible form as they flung kettle-balls over their heads while locking their knees etc... If you bought a voucher here try to get a refund because it's not work it at all.

I have countless great things from my experience when this gym was a Crossfit gym. I'd even tell others who live in other areas to consider Crossfit if they're looking for a new gym or a new approach to exercise. With that said, after several months at Crossfit, I realised that I was beginning to plateau. It's not to say that one can't continuously improve at a Crossfit gym, but if I'm honest, I like having things more or less programmed and prepared for me. Crossfit's workout of the day format offers that structure and is a great way to improve and then maintain fitness - but if you want get to the next level after a few months, you really need to consider doing a personal workout regimen, which many do at Crossfit gyms. The move to Impact Fitness is essentially a way of incorporating the things I loved about Crossfit, such as: group exercise, coaching, greater intensity workouts, heavier weights (if desired), a variety of exercises and other elements. In fact, many of the same exercises and equipment associated with Crossfit are still present. However, the class schedule now has more focus on determining goals, measuring progress and targeting specific areas. The daily schedule essentially operates in offering hour-long classes alternating between two types of workouts. One is 'strength', being weight training. The strength workouts in particular repeat throughout the month in order to continue working on the same area and work towards progressing. The other is 'conditioning', which is comparable to bootcamp styled high intensity interval training (HIIT). Beyond that, the workouts are also structured with either being mostly an upper body, or lower body work out. It allows you to plan your workouts and routine according to your goals, which can be done with the advice and help from the coaches. Effectively, Impact is a place where they have done most of the work in providing a workout plan and structure for members. It's really then just left to individuals to decide what their goals and preferences are, then plan their workout schedule and do the work accordingly. This is still with the benefit of a fun, supportive group atmosphere along with coaching. And hey, if you still want to do an even more personalized regimen, that's still available too.

Thirdly, the atmosphere is cheery, open, bright, professional and calming. More importantly, Alex (owner & trainer), really dissects everything about you before getting started on your first routine. He asks what your goals are, and also watchs how you carry yourself when you walk and initially perform the exercises. He understands body mechanics, and knows exactly how far to push you. He pointed out that when I walked, I leaned forward, and was not using my buttocks, putting undo pressure on my knees. Needless to say, I now have buns of steel, and my knees are thanking me. All my 61 years of life, I've been walking this way, and none of my past trainers pointed any of this out. Oh, and don't let me forget, Alex does not let you get away with wimping out or complaining. You always know where you stand with Alex. He has this honest, direct, open minded, educated, and has very motivating approach. For example, Gail Kim, the former WWE Women's Champion used to workout here few years back. I think they continue that tradition by sponsoring local athletes. A local business that is giving back to the community, is there anything more beautiful? So space management: There are plenty of free weights to go around. About 20 feet, double rows of free weights with mirrors running all the way + barbell selection is good. Good bench press selection. Usually some gyms have the regular and incline only, so you need to get creative for the declined position, well this gym has 2! and about 5 regulars and 3 inclines + a plethora of adjustable benches. A good healthy selection for those who like to run, they have everything from tread mills to various step machines and ellipticals. One excellent thing about this gym is that people actually do come here to workout. In other words, there is minimal level of gym rats. What are gym rats you ask? It's those people who come to the gym to hang out and not actually work out. Good selection of stationary stations as well. Nicely spaced out so that everyone has plenty of room to workout. I think Fitness 365 really shines when it comes to classes. These are not your run of the mill classes folks! Their classes are taught by athletes. People who make their living my training their body to the peak level! I took their boxing class and no joke, it was taught by a real boxer. The dude was so fit, he had like 3% body fat, insane right? Ridiculously awesome class. The classes range from Zoomba, Yoga, Kickboxing, Boxing, MMA, and Spinning. Changing room is little old school in the mens', but you know what? there is definitely a certain charm to it's old schoolness. It's kept clean, well maintained and with communal shower area. I mainly did the…read moreclasses and open gym, although I lucked out when I first showed up by being the only person to attend a free barbell training clinic Marv (the owner) was running. I learned a lot in the session and signed up that night. If you want to get strong, this is the place for you. Ditto if you want to get in shape, and if you want classes that are both challenging, interesting, and varied. On the other hand, if you care more about the amenities in your gym's change room than the equipment in the workout area, you are better off going somewhere else. Likewise, if you all you want to do is use cardio machines, I would encourage you to try one of Blast's classes with an open mind, and failing that, go somewhere else. One example of what I like about Blast is how it is perfectly acceptable at Blast to drop your barbell if you are doing deadlifts or olympic lifts. They have bumper plates (i.e. plastic coated weighted plates) and understand that when you lift heavy it's not reasonable (or even safe) to gently put the barbell down. Sadly many other gyms forbid dropping weights. Another great thing about this place is the sense of community fostered amongst the members, and how people are happy to spot you on the bench press, let you work in a set on the squat rack or lifting platform, etc. In terms of the equipment my favourite thing is the strongman type stuff they have. Specifically the giant tires you can flip, and the prowler/weight sleds you can pull with a rope and then push back to the start. There are also Kettlebells all the way up to 70 lbs, which is a heavier weight than most gyms carry. Lastly, the trainers are a great group of people. The owner and head coach Marv practices what he preaches, and he has a dynamic mix of trainers, some that work for Blast and others that rent out space for their own classes. They all work together and cooperate though. I'm leaving the country for work soon, and other than my siblings Blast is what I'll miss most about Toronto!

Prowlers, bumper plates, kettlebells...all the good stuff is here. You worried about form? They'll show you the basics and graduate you on to harder exercises along your journey. Long term success is not compromised for short term results. 3. Passionate and down to earth staff. They'll let you know if you can perform that set with a heavier weight. They're concerned about your movement but they also want to see you working to your fullest potential as well. Caveats? There are a couple. The shower and change rooms are small and merely ordinary. In fact, the whole space will come as a let down to anyone used to training in a boutique gym environment. Substance and functionality before style. And yes, it's expensive. Bang is by no means cheap but the prices are reasonable for what you get in return. You could bang it out (no pun intended) on the machines at your local Goodlife but you would not get nearly the amount of personalized attention and advice at this independent outfit. If you're serious about making some gains in your physical fitness, check these guys out!
