All of his staff are knowledgeable and friendly as well. The entire staff works as a team and are like family. I have my teeth cleaning and exams done regularly. From time to time, I am embarrassed to say they find those pesky little cavities!! My insurance covers most of it and I am out of pocket for a few dollars. Now, when they find something forming with their high tech gadgets, I do not wait. When you wait, and after time it becomes an emergency, that's when more work is needed. This office offers much more services than I've used. There's implant restorations, Invisalign invisible braces, pediatric dentistry, and more. The office is very serene and sterile. I feel like every time I get examined after a cleaning, there is always something he recommends that I need work on or will eventually need, although I have no concerns or pain with any of my teeth. When he suggests all these unnecessary treatments, it gives me anxiety and makes me question whether I should get the work done or not. I always receive a printout of the recommended services and how much they will cost. I understand that it is ultimately up to me whether I want to proceed with any treatment, but the constant reminders of the RECOMMENDED work makes me feel pressured, and I don't like that feeling. It also makes me question whether it's all about making money. Going to the dentist already gives me a lot of anxiety, and I'm sure that's the case for many people. At the end of the day, I don't want a doctor who makes me feel like there is always something wrong with my teeth. Throughout my years, I have seen a lot of doctors and none has ever made me feel pressure like Dr. Sato. Maybe it's his personality or how he approaches his patients. My goal in finding a good dentist has always been about finding a great dental hygienist, but this time around I feel like I need to move on and find another doctor who makes me feel more comfortable and at ease. Lately, whenever I get some sort of work done--like a crown, a root canal, or even a simple cleaning--my nerve seems to get triggered and causes pain elsewhere. Rule of thumb: if there is nothing wrong with your tooth and no pain, leave it alone.

I'd been researching dentists for some time and kept coming back to Elk Grove Healthy Smiles (EHS), due to all of theor positive reviews and the staff from posted photos seems very friendly. I finally decided to visit EHS, and it turns out my girlfriend we t here when she was younger and had positive experiences as well. My initial consultation was thorough, and everything noted was gone over with me by both my Dental Hygienist and Dr. Nanra. And any further treatment was discussed and I given the option and opportunity to do it the same day, which I opted for dueing my 1st visit. Further treatment I went to another professional, and EHS helped me through the process and were even able to get me in sooner than expected. And then get me back in in-house, to finish a treatment before I went on vacation. Standard visits have been quick and easy as well, and staff have always ensured I was comfortable throughout my visits. From the reception team up front, to the dental professionals in the back. My son is on the autism spectrum, and experiences like dental visits can take a little extra time and care. From the moment his name was called by our hygienist, Abby, everything just felt right. She greeted him with such a warm and welcoming demeanor, patiently giving him the space he needed to feel comfortable walking into the room at his own pace. What truly stood out was how thoughtful the environment was, cartoons were already playing on both the wall and the ceiling-mounted TV above his chair, which immediately helped put him at ease. And Abby's work? Absolutely incredible. Her hands were so gentle and precise that my son was completely calm and, honestly, seemed to enjoy the entire experience. Kalia took great care of me. She was gentle, caring, and answered all of my questions along the way, especially when I wasn't sure about something. She took her time cleaning and polishing my teeth thoroughly, inside and out, and I really appreciate the attention to detail. I tend to get nervous due to past experiences, but she made me feel at ease. The dentist came in to check my teeth and gave a quick explanation of the work I may need. I didn't catch his name since the interaction was brief, and it felt a bit rushed. I also felt the scraping on my front teeth to remove some tartar was quite rough, with noticeable pulling and tugging- it honestly made me worry my teeth might break. Was not impressed by the front office staff service or the dentists. I called five times for a particular issue and never received a call back--issue unresolved. The techs and dentists never used my name to address me. Poor training and customer service. Came to Elk Grove Dental for the urgent dental issue and then switched over to them to continue the care. The front office personnel, hygienist, techs, and specialists are very friendly and competent. I had a bad experience with the dental care, however, though the dentist is a nice person. Dr. Vu did two crowns on me last year, telling me I didn't also need root canals on the teeth. Both teeth were uncomfortable soon after having the crowns done, and remained so, off and on, which I reported to her. Less than a year later, both teeth had developed severe abscesses (I never had an abscess before, though I have had successful crowns, root canals, and fillings). On top of what I felt was the unusually high cost of the now useless crowns, I am now paying over $5K for each tooth implant. I'm blown away by this office's prices. Separate charges are made for the dentist and the specialists. Speaking with the root canal specialist about the second abscessed tooth, I finally determined the risk of the root canal's not working was too high--and I was charged $70 for that brief consultation with the specialist. I've never experienced such high prices or piecemeal pricing before. Medicare covers only checkups and cleanings, which is absurd for older people especially. I'm 68, and in overall great health, but have needed this sudden, wildly expensive dental care. Thankfully I could get Smile Generation financing to spread out the cost. I still feel overcharged, however, and feel that I received substandard dental care from Dr. Vu. Maybe this is simply how dental care goes these days. I was told today that Dr. Vu has just left this practice. She is now (from info I found online) at Strawberry Creek. Was told I'd be seeing a new dentist for my appt this Friday to remake a crown. I feel quite apprehensive.

I've known Dr. Ragland since I was a young child, and I have always considered him to be an outstanding dentist. His clinical expertise and the quality of his work have never been in question. I was genuinely excited to have his office handle my dental treatment. Unfortunately, my experience with the front office completely changed that. I had a concern regarding billing to my secondary insurance (MetLife). My primary insurance had been billed, but my secondary insurance had not received a claim. While speaking with the office, I was also on the phone with a MetLife supervisor, and we were both looking at my claims history online. We could clearly see that only preauthorizations had been submitted to my secondary insurance--there was no actual claim. Rather than reviewing the information with me, Dolly insisted that the claim had already been submitted and repeatedly referenced her 20 years of insurance experience. I wasn't questioning her experience; I was simply trying to resolve what the insurance company and I were both seeing. Instead of working together to verify the issue, the conversation became argumentative, and I was told that I wasn't going to speak to her a certain way. At no point was I disrespectful. I'm a manager for a Fortune 500 company and have professional conversations every day, even when disagreements arise. I understand the importance of respectful communication, and that's exactly what I expected in return. At that point, I made the difficult decision to take my business elsewhere. As a patient, I want to feel that the office is advocating for me and willing to investigate concerns rather than dismissing them or assuming I'm wrong. To be clear, this review is not a reflection of Dr. Ragland or the quality of his dental care. He is an excellent dentist, and I have nothing but respect for his skills. My decision is based solely on my experience with the front office. It's disappointing because I truly wanted to continue my dental care with Dr. Ragland, but customer service and respectful communication are just as important to me as excellent clinical care
