Haven't been to Cristy's in a long, long time. I was driving home from Maine and the traffic was awful so I got off to cut through Hampton and down Rte 1. I had the chance to stop at Cristy's for 3 slices and a drink. I was lucky when pulling up as there was no line.....which was a surprise to me! I have alot of fond memories as a kid going to Cristy's for some pizza! It was awesome! To me, things haven't changed much. Pizza and soda is what is on the menu. I am not a fan of extra cheese when they put a slice of cheese on the top before putting it in the oven. I am a fan of beach pizza. I always have been! Beach pizza!! I don't care what anyone says, this pizza is iconic and fantastic. I was with a large group of people at Hampton beach and we ordered several boxes of this pizza and ate it on the beach. The soft dough, sweet sauce and minimal cheese are a great combo! Cristy's Pizza was a good call for a simple walk up pizza joint. Slices were $2.55 for plain and $3.05 with a topping, but it got the job done. The kids working were friendly and busy. They make big square slice pies so I was able to get several right out of the oven. If you ask for toppings they throw them on before a quick reheat. The slices are thin and square with less cheese and fresh dough. The sauce had a little tang and slight acidity. If your from the Philly/Trenton area it's basically a tomato pie. Good summer pizza, not heavy or a grease bomb like most boardwalk pizza's I've had. Save that stuff for the younger kids with iron stomachs!! We tried Christys for the first time a few nights ago, having just discovered beach pizza, we figured we need to try them all. While the idea is the same, this pizza to me was completely different than Tripoli. The sauce was more savory and not sweet, the crust is definitely thicker, and there seemed to be less cheese, even with "extra" cheese. Luke warm garbage. It was food. It was something I once tried. But I have also had Elio's. This was a worse Elio's. Less dough, paper thin crust. My husband said like crackery. Sauce- like Elio's. The provolone on top as extra cheese- good idea but one night and the provolone goes! There doesn't seem to be a direct way to message the owners but I've been eating the product for 60 years and want to tell them that the crust has been getting thicker and the sauce thinner for years The crust is great but the sauce is the whole deal despite other online comments. It is above Tripoli which is very good but is way over sweetened. I use to also love Trips but believe it is now significantly over sweetened. I've tried to reproduce a similar Christy sauce but I have fallen short. I'm guessing it's the souce of the tomatoes. Nestled over behind the back of the Hampton Beach Casino this beach pizza place is a favorite amongst folks who work around here. Deciding to go for a drive one Wednesday evening in early June after work, we drove to Hampton Beach, as I was recently recovering from a surfing injury we were enjoying a lazy evening and decided to indulge in our favorite food: Pizza. I had no expectations as I had never been here before and found the pizza squares interesting. It reminded me of a private school lunch pizza, but I couldn't figure out why. The Extra Cheese pizza has a slice of Provolone cheese on it. Otherwise, it's heavy on the sweet marina sauce and light on the cheese. The mushroom pizza and pepperoni both appear as if the toppings were cooked separately and added on as an afterthought. However, for a quick on the go meal, and the price point, you have nothing to complain about here unless you don't like pizza or have dietary restrictions in which case this isn't your best bet. A big problem lies within the service here. My wife noticed that the cashier behind the counter was using her bare hands to spread the pepperoni and the provolone cheese. When my wife mentioned this to the cashier, she quite rudely responded, "Well, that's the way we do things. Take it, or leave it." As far as pizza, Cristy's is our first choice when we're in Hampton. We love how crunchy the crust is and love grabbing late night slices with any toppings. The price is good and since the pizza is already cooked, it's fast and easy. The marinara is sweet and they use a good amount of it! It is pre-made and they add the topping you choose. Then it goes in the pizza oven to reheat. It is not like pizza you get fresh from the oven. One of the other reviewers said this is beach pizza, don't expect a NYC slice. It definitely isn't a NYC slice.
