We walked in for a simple nail trim, but they had a cancellation and were able to upgrade us to full grooming. We have a very timid rescue who is afraid of everything, and the staff handled him with incredible patience and kindness. They even brushed his teeth! He came home smelling amazing, looking great, with perfect nails--and most importantly, he was happy. As new customers, we're sold. We won't be going anywhere else. I have my 2 poodles groomed here. The dogs always come out happy and beautiful. My main groomer retired and recommend I go here as she was trained here. It has been at least 5 years now. My mini poodle has been cut and scraped at another big box grooming center in town so to have her be happy and not scared is important. Recently, we have had to bring both our German Shepard and Jack Russell Terrier/Healer there as they have had run ins with a skunk on our property. We tried ourselves to get the smell out but Critter Clips took the time to wash them numerous time and they looked and smelled great all three times. read more

I was a walk in for my bunnies nails to be clipped and Terry (I believe her name is) did a fabulous job in spite of bishop being a little rambunctious. The other gal, who was cutting Bishop nails also did a fabulous job!! Thank you both and I hope to see you again if you will allow Bishop back!! If you have an animal that has a difficult time getting his/her nails clipped this is a place for you, they are kind respectful of your animal, and truly love their job...and it shows!! If groomers had state license requirements I'd file a complaint on theirs, but this yelp review will have to suffice. I should've heeded the other reviews. This was my 2nd time using Critter Clips. $75 for a large groom is unheard of, but shame on me because ya get what you pay for. After my pups last groom here I had concerns about a long scratch on his inner thigh, but understanding this is a school and accidents happen (even at experienced groomers) I decided to come back. I made sure to mention the scratch directly to the owner at drop off and she assured me it wouldn't happen again. Said something like "I know exactly how that happened, I'll talk to her." I want to emphasize my dog was not matted. He gets brushed regularly and the owner even asserted he was well kept when I apologized for all the dirt because we'd just come from the park. He's been groomed every 6 weeks for two years and is trained to be a good boy for the process. I say this in case they try to dispute what's below by lying. The owner even told me he did well when I asked at pick up. At first he seemed fine. I even left a tip! Got home and noticed a bald spot on his ribs where they shaved way too close. Couple hours later he's licking at his ankle pretty incessantly so I did a more thorough examination. They knicked the paw pad at his ankle on his front foot severely enough that a little piece was hanging off. Reminded me of when I catch skin shaving my leg. Luckily I have a doggie first aid kit so I cleaned it up and put EnteDerm on the wound. He's had to wear a sock all day to prevent licking so of course he's doubly miserable. There're also scratches in the crease of his thigh as well as multiple other spots where they shaved way way too close, all the way down to the skin. The owner checked us out at pick up personally and didn't mention any of this, not even the bald spot which would have been obvious right away, unlike the wounds which I can concede may not have been evident in the moment if they didn't bleed. In my mind these students had guidance and accountability when entrusted with peoples pets, but apparently it's a free for all back there. Don't event want to imagine what my guy went through that didn't leave a mark. Suffice to say we won't be going back. read more

This is an absolutely awful grooming place! We always go to Stubby Paws which is an amazing pet salon but we decided to give this place a shot since we had a coupon. This was a huge mistake, we have a specific way we like our dog's hair to be cut and this groomer did the complete opposite. The feet were not cut, our dogs face was cut unevenly and looked like an old man. We had to have the groomer recut our dogs hair because she did such a bad job. In addition, the place tried to charge us more than the coupon stated. This place has no positives about it, terrible customer service and terrible grooming! We will continue to go to our favorite place, Stubby Paws! read more

I used the coupon and I guess That means you don't take time to do it correctly. My cats main was crooked, her leges were not blended well at all and her shave is not smooth. I don't think she was washed either. I told them I bath her and she does not need dry shampoo When I mentioned it I was told that happens when they get tired of being groomed. My oldest dog Mars has been going there so long that if he sees the owner going to the back door he runs through his legs to get to his car to go home with him lol. My mom dropped her dog off here when we went out of town a couple months ago. They seemed very nice and well organized. The dogs don't stay in cages, but instead have little rooms for each of the dogs. Based on the name and the location, you'd never even guess that it was a boarding location, seems like just a groomer at first glance. I was in disbelief at seeing my dogs after having them groomed at Critter Clips. They were, literally, generically groomed with no attention to the few simple instructions I gave. Last time they were beautifully groomed by three different groomers. They were busy and probably had overbooked the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. The owner had actually scissored them down with no attention to preserving their natural beauty or characteristics. How could this establishment be a groomer training school? I did call the owner and expressed my disappointment. She offered a free grooming but I am hesitant to return. read more

I don't understand what all the negativity is about in this forum. They're a wonderful place to take your dogs for grooming, doggie daycare and boarding. In comparison to other boarding facilities, this one is top notch. Your dogs are not kept in tiny cages and exercised once or twice a day. They are provided with spacious rooms on overnight stays and during the day, they are free to roam into a very nice outdoor area where they can play with other dogs. Water is freely provided in over-sized containers situated in every area accessible to dogs. The owner and manager are exceptional people. Dogs are shaved for two reasons: Owner request for their summer cuts or due to extreme matting of the coat. I guess you just can't believe everything you read. Unhappy people or those that can't be pleased are usually the ones that yell the loudest. read more

I would absolutely not recommend this business if you need a cat clipped. I was told I could be with my cat and this groomer said they would listen to how I wanted him trimmed (I would have done it myself but could not do to a recent injury). I was not listened to. When I arrived, I was not allowed to be with my cat, the clipper cut him in 3 places, the groomer (not Gerri) would not brush out his tail, and the clip was VERY uneven due to the groomer not having a guide on the clippers. I then paid more than I pay for my dog to get groomed for this one trip for the cat. read more

I have taken my 80lb Malamute mix to Critter Clips now at least 4 times and he looks great every time. I have no issues at all with this groomer, they use the furminator on him and really get all the loose undercoat out. They are not the cheapest in town, but I have tried PetSmart and a few other smaller local groomers, and keep coming back to Critter Clips because they do the best job on my baby. I have taken my dogs here for several years. Last visit was the summer of 2012 and will be the last. When making the reservation several weeks ahead of time, I was not even told that they had moved. The new location was vastly different. I did not recognize any of the people and had to verify I was in the correct location, as there was not sign. It was not clean or organized, should have walked out then. The actual grooming was not up to par either. Lastly, they would not take a debit/credit card as in years past. I wasn't notified of this until I picked my dogs up. That was the first and last visit to the new Critter Clips location. So disappointed as they were first rate for a long time, but no longer. read more

I brought my 5 month puppy here and I was really upset and disappointed with the job they did. I told the lady to only cut half an inch off and she cut all of his hair off and the worst part was that she didn't leave his hair even by his nose. He's very stubborn and i can almost guarantee she forced him to cut his hair because he doesn't let anyone touch his face. Don't bring your pets here. They clearly can't follow orders. DO NOT USE THIS GROOMER! They scraped my dog in 3 places, causing me to have to take him to the vet. I incurred a bill of almost $100 at my vet. The groomer scraped his testicles, his penis and his thigh with the clippers. My dog was in pain and could not even sit. When I called the store to complain, they acted as though they were clueless, and all they offered was to reimburse me the grooming fee. I was shocked they showed no remorse or concern for my pet. Paid top dollar for a shoddy job. Shaved bald (to cut and bleeding on mouth area) didn't bother with trimming legs and sides, then shaved her to skin in other places. The haircut looked like a 3 stooges haircut. And on top of that, she is still shedding like crazy, there was no DE shedding done even though we paid for it. Gave them many opportunities to make it right and was completely ignored. They could care less if you are dissatisfied. NEVER ever AGAIN. Lousy job and people need to know that. The previous reviewer is correct, the rooms are big and not at all cage like. They will provide it, but you are also welcome to bring bedding or toys to make your dog comfortable where other places don't want to have to keep track of that stuff. The dogs are allowed to play in a fenced indoor area too, so they aren't kept in their room all day at no extra charge. The nightly rate is already affordable, but especially when you consider that other places charge almost double to let the dogs play! read more

I come back to pick up my dog (a cocker spaniel) and he's been completely shaved, ignoring all instruction given. Not only that, but the cut is choppy and uneven. I took my cat here for a bath and comb out. When I picked her up She was still wet underneath, and was matted because they had not dried her (long haired cats will mat if not dried). I called and told them about the problem. They said to bring her back and they would comb her out. Took her back and it was as if they didn't know how to properly remove mats as she was exactly the same as when I dropped her off. They would not listen to my complaints offered to come back again. The place was very clean..did not smell of dogs at all! They were not caged..they have little rooms big enough for my two little shih tzus be comfortable during their stay.
