I called Critter Control in Albuquerque to have a raccoon removed from my chimney in Santa Fe. First the good points: the person who came out for the free initial evaluation, Jared, was prompt, courteous, and professional. He advised me that it usually takes several days to coax out a raccoon by putting a repellant consisting of predator urine down the chimney and repeating this each day until the animal is gone. So I signed the required contract for up to two weeks of daily service for a total charge of $486.88, including sales tax. The next morning a second worker came out, who was also courteous and professional. He inspected the chimney and determined that the raccoon was already gone. That of course was good news -- both for me and for the company, which would not have to come back for what could have been multiple sessions. Under the circumstances, I thought that Critter Control might agree as a courtesy to give me a partial discount. To be fair I approved the charges in advance and the company was under no obligation to make an adjustment. But I thought that in the interest of customer relations and repeat business, they might be flexible. I called the office and was disappointed that they wouldn't consider my request. They offered to have the manager, Amanda, call me but that never happened. Otherwise this might have been a three-star rather than two-star review. Knowing what I know now, next time I will try one of the locally owned and operated companies here in Santa Fe. The person who came for the initial evaluation was a salesman, presumably working on commission. And judging from his caller ID, the second person sent by Critter Control was a subcontractor from a different Santa Fe pest control firm. I'm not sure that there was any value added by the Critter Control franchise brand. read more

Spent 4K about 1 1/2 years ago to seal every nook and cranny that rodents can get into the house and then was charged monthly $100 to come a check traps that were set away from the house! Frankly it was a rip off... had another person come do the same...he ended up sealing areas that were not touched and set traps close to the house.....for less than $500! We were ripped off for sure! If you got $ to blow....go with this company! read more

I had a sales person Mike come to my home in Santa Fe, NM to give me estimate for rodent exclusion. I signed a contract for the work and paid 50%. The tech came out and said he couldn't do anything but PUT TRAPS ON MY ROOF because I had my contractor to my home and said he wants to check the ceilings so I shouldn't do exclusion yet. I was also having all my vents cleaned in a few days so the exclusion has to be done AFTER the cleaning. (which I told the sales person when he came to my home) I canceled the contract within the 3 day window hoping to work with Critter Control at a later date. I am being charged $300 for traps sitting on my roof. Very disappointed in this company. I don't dispute a charge for the tech coming out but $300 for less than 30 minutes to set traps on my roof with peanut butter. I feel like i got ripped off. Won't be using them in the future like I had planned. BTW - I have a recorded call and transcript of Logan at the central office telling me I would get my deposit back. I am updating my earlier review, which was a 0. Critter Control continues to charge me for a monthly service, which I canceled before it started. They have not returned numerous calls, nor did they ever return to finish what I had already paid WAY too much for. I am at a loss as to how they are able to continue to operate as a business. Unethical, predatory in how they charge, inaccessible to customer service if it is to cancel, or respond to customer concerns. I plan to report them to the Attorney General. I see others who are complaining about CRMINAL TRESSPASSING on their property, this occurred with me also. Honestly I feel like I was preyed on (pun intended) and as a senior citizen it caused painful economic hardship on me. Shame on this company. read more

I had a Skunk problem. The fix was more expensive than I'd expected. Their sales rep came out and evaluated the problem plus giving me 2 options to: 1. Catch and Release or 2. Install wire barriers around the areas where skunks were a problem PLUS Catch and Release w a 1 year warranty. This was about $2,100. Inc tax. Since one of my little doggies had been sprayed in the face I decided to go with Option 2. The guys showed up right on time and worked fast to dig and install the wire barrier, one-way door and 2 live traps. They had to remove my new chain link fence to do this and put it back. 2 Skunks were caught by the 4th day and no more came by the 5th day. CC moved them way out to the country. But my chain link fence wasn't put back nearly as well as it was before. It was left very loose so I called the tech who came and asked him to come back to fix this. He said he would BUT, so far no one has repaired the fence they removed. However, I just saw that they've collected all their monies thru my card number so I don't know if they'll come back to take care of the lose fence. I'll update my review if they do. read more

Currently having this company criminally trespassed for them dumping skunks on my property! Now the skunks are killing my chickens and eating all my eggs and chickens food. Funny how NO ONE will call me back regarding this issue so I'm telling everyone here that when you call this company to trap critters they are taking them to peoples property and dumping them off and now I HAVE TO pay to remove the skunks they dumped! In March 24, 2021, I watched Critter Control park down the road from my house in the Village of Bosque Farms NM - this is a residential neighborhood near the river with a field across the street where there are cattle and chickens. The vehicle was parked for about 10 minutes about 100 yards down a Village maintenance access road with the back of the vehicle facing away from me. Two minutes after the vehicle left, I flagged down a Village employee who saw two skunks in the field near where the truck was parked. Across the access road, my neighbor raises chickens and cows - and what do skunks like to eat? Oh yeah, eggs and chickens! So... how long have they been doing this when no one has noticed? We trapped 12 skunks from my property last year - were they part of the problem? Is this the way they get business? By charging people to remove 'critters' then turning them loose in areas where they could potentially get more business re-trapping them? After two calls to their corporate office in Georgia and listening to - and confirming with the employee - their recording that said all calls were recorded, I asked for a call back. As it has been almost two weeks with no call back, I feel it is my duty to alert potential customers to the lack of responsibility and accountability displayed by this company. I would give them 0 stars if possible... I am also pursuing this with NM Department of Game and Fish and the Village ... hopefully they will learn not to do this again... read more

If I could give a negative star review I would. This company is crap. I dropped some of my services and the technician's supervisor/manager got mad at him for doing a good job so I could get rid of some of the services they cured. Then, when I got the services reduced they overcharged me. When I call for a refund for the overcharge I get several different stories. I dropped them today and am disputing my past charge. They are rip off artists. Please don't use this company. It's a lot of work to get things straightened out. read more

We are VERY disappointed in the lack of service and professionalism of the Critter Control team. Not once, but twice, we took off time from work to be here for the service and both times no one showed. It is a bad precedence to set with a customer that had been using the service for five years and just signed up for the maintenance service plan. Not only did the service not get performed but both times we called about the time that we could expect the technician and were told that "we were the next house" and that it "should not be long." After waiting for almost two hours with no call, no one ever came to perform the service. When I brought this situation to the attention of the company's main contact, Nancy, and asked that they make it right, I was emailed a response that they were sorry of for the inconvenience. As far as I am concerned, they don't care about their customers and I will take my business to another company that does. Incredibly bad customer service. read more

Very disappointed today with Critter control company. I called asking to put few traps for rodents. Around nine o'clock somebody from this company came, I explained my situation ( that I need traps ) and he said, that he need to do house inspection and it will take half of hour. It was not my plan, but I agreed. When this person came back, he told me, that all job, what they need to do will be $ 37000!!!?? I was in shock, told him again, that I just need few traps. He said that I need door for crawl space and it will cost $2450 plus traps, all together over $3100. I was confused and told him, that I need think about it and he became very angry, told me that he spend so much time for me ( I did not ask him ). It was almost scary moment and I said Ok. He asked my credit card number and tell me to sign, I did and he said person who will work with doors on crawl space coming on Wednesday. In couple hours I realized that he did not give me any paperwork and sent him a message, he did not answer. And only around 6 o'clock he finally sent it. I am from Ukraine, my family still in Ukraine and I have plan to go in couple weeks.I told him that I want to do now part of job ( doors ), pay for it and later, when I come back to finish job. He called me, very angry, almost yelled at me, that I have to do it, because we discussed it. When I said no, he told me in very rude way, that he will cancel everything. My new lawn got attacked by raccoons, so I called CRITTER CONTROL to put traps out. Okay, they'll set traps for 5 days for $150, then cart away any raccoons for an additional $85 each. I called them on a Wednesday morning, and they did come out Thursday to set 2 traps. No raccoons. They came back on Friday morning to close the traps - because they don't cart away animals over the weekend. Huh?? Did they tell the raccoons not to invade my lawn on weekends? On Monday - not on Sunday - they came and reset the traps. Then on Wednesday they took the traps away. So I paid them to set traps for 5 days, but the traps were only set for Thursday, Monday, and Tuesday nights. Now isn't that just wonderful??? What a Total Waste of Money! Buyer Beware!! read more

Unbelievably bad experience. We have a skunk living under our bedroom. It moved in during a construction project, which left an exposed hole under our house. When we discovered we have a skunk, we called Critter Control after hearing they are the "best." They came and set up the traps, saying they'd check on them daily. Problem: the traps were faulty and they definitely did NOT come daily to rebait them. (They claimed they came daily.) My husband had to rebait them twice because the bait was gone. Twice, traps were knocked over and still weren't triggered. After 5 days, they called to say that the service was complete and they'd pick them up. We complained about the traps and lack of service and they said they'd bring traps that work and let us have 2 days for "free." Still no skunk. We can't finish our bathroom project because we can't cover the hole. In the past week (beginning the 3rd day of service) we've received 5 bills (all irrelevant, since we paid with a credit card and we have have an account balance of $0.) I guess we're on our own with trapping the skunk. read more

Had a family of raccoons in the fireplace. Set up an appointment. He came on time. After poking mom gently on her behind through the damper she crawled out. He said she'll be back tonight to take out her young and will move to a different home. Sure enough, mom came back later that evening and removed her kids one by one. The $170 was well worth it. I'd give them a 0. They were great. Then they got purchased by some company out of Atlanta and the service has consistently degraded. I actually subscribe to their every other month service and found evidence of a mouse in the house. So I called and made an appointment. No one showed up. The person in Atlanta told me they can see I requested the service but it appears it didn't get booked. So she booked it. And no one showed up. The person in Atlanta told me she had no idea why other than it looked like they set me up as a new client. One would think a new client opportunity would mean someone would definitely show up. So she escalated the District Manager who told he he is new, had only been there a few weeks, and none of these issues were his but he'd fix them. I told him these issues were all within the last 5 days so were on him. So he booked an appointment for today at noon. I just got a call from the service person telling me he has no idea what time he's supposed to be here, so he'll come now. I called the District Manager and he said he knows we booked noon, so this mistake is again on him. I don't really care whose error, but I do care that this great local company has deteriorated. I guess I'm shopping for a new pest control group. read more

We used Critter Control because our neighbor recommended after having such a great experience. The neighbor had a bad mouse infestation ( and gross) handled in ONE inexpensive service... simply by sealing the entryways. No expensive monthly service, not months of fighting the battle... just a simple direct approach. That's the kind of solution I want. I don't want monthly expensive management of the rodents, I want them out of my house never to return. Daniel was our service tech. today. He was fast, efficient, pleasant, and the type of person I feel comfortable having in my home with my children here. Alexandra was my point of contact at the office. She handled three phone calls from me well, got right to the point, didn't act like a mindless robot who doesn't care, just a competent person who gets the job done. She even tracked down our tech on the day of the service to ask him to narrow down the 4 hr window eta for us and called me back with the info. Making an appointment was easy and they arrived on time. And one more thing... the first inspection and estimate of $$$ is free with all prices put into writing before performing any services are performed. You literally get to approve the total price before any work is done and the first inspection is completely free with no obligation. This is the kind of company I want to do business with. If only every Albuquerque company I have to deal with as a homeowner would follow this business model. It doesn't have to be the land of manyana when it can be handled Right Now. read more

Hi All, I am so disappointed with Critter Control. When you get your bi-monthly service the technician is here maybe ten minutes and he doesn't come to the door to say he is at your home. My last service I was watching and waiting for him out the window. Half an hour later I get an email that he was here for 20 minutes while I watched!. I scheduled another service because I could see no evidence he had been here even tho I paid my 72.00$. It was set for between 8:30 and 9: 30 am. At 11:20 I called and cancelled any further service. He never showed up. There are better bugmen in the area. read more

We have used Critters twice, our first $140.00 dollar experience was good, our technician was attentive, he listened to our concerns which was a roach problem emanating from a neighbors yard. He sprayed inside the house, outside thoroughly and even sprayed the neighbors fence. It was close to winter so he advised to call back in the spring for maintenance at $75.00. He advised not to spray monthly as the spray worked for months. We called back in March and our new technician said we still had to pay $140.00 dollars. He came to spray sick, sniffling constantly and after I told him I had seen a mouse in the yard he told me they didn't treat rodents. He sprayed outside only and couldn't have taken more than 10 minutes and I'm being generous. Needless to say we found roaches and called back within a month only to be told that they don't guarantee their work and we would have to pay to have them return. The manager by the way was extremely rude. No thanks Critters, there are too many other pest control companies who want our business. read more
