I adopted a kitty recently at this store/shelter and am utterly disappointed. Here's my experience... They will lie and won't respond: - Elizabeth the woman I dealt with said - he is doing well with other kitties - HE IS NOT - I called several times to follow-up - THEY AVOID FOLLOW-UPS. NO CALLS RETURNED - they say they work with a rescue in Hawaii - there's no phone number on the website so I emailed and AGAIN NO RESPONSE - they use social media to send out nice photos. In reality, it's a very sad place. This is THE MOST NEGLECTED shelter I have seen - A neighbor recently told me they lied to him about his pup that grew up to be a huge dog CONTRARY TO WHAT HE'S BEING TOLD of it being a terrier mix! How they operate: - Other shelters usually ask questions about if you have other pets or will the pet be indoor or outdoor, etc. HERE THEY DON'T CARE! - They are active in social media with FAKE REVIEWS and enticing people with nice photos to adopt especially dog puppies because they CHARGE MOST FOR THEM. The POOR PUPPIES are placed right by the entrance of the store! - The building is rather run down. The living conditions of the animals are not that good. HARDLY ANY BLANKETS. DIRTY. NOT ENOUGH WATER. BAD VENTILATION... - They have KIDS supposedly interns doing the dirty work whereas the adults are on their phone and chatting by the counter I might praise them for rescuing all kinds of animals. Unfortunately they don't know how and are not equipped to take care of exotic animals. A huge parrot in a small cage or a big tortoise as attractions! They should be taken to specialized rescues. THERE'S JUST SOMETHING WRONG WITH HOW THEY OPERATE, SO JUST BEWARE! read more

Absolutely awful experience. I set up an appointment to meet three puppies, confirmed the time, and showed up--only to find out they had already been adopted. No call, no heads-up, nothing. Just a complete waste of 2 hours of time, ferry tolls both ways, and made my excited partner cry on the way home. This was a surprise for her and this pet store broke her heart. When I asked why I wasn't notified, the woman in charge shrugged and said, "So what? What do you want me to do about it?" We had been talking about this appointment for 5 days. No apology, no accountability--just pure rudeness. If this is how they treat people, I'd hate to see how they treat their animals. Completely unprofessional, unreliable, and flat-out disrespectful. Don't waste your time with this place. What a horrible person. read more

this shop is more than a pet store , it's also a rescue. the owner will take any unwanted pet and fully care for it and find a home or foster home. Debbie's staff is just as caring and compassionate. the owner Debbie is always welcoming and friendly . We are so lucky to have such a caring compassionate pet shop owner in our community. I have a wonderful little rescue from Debbie's rescue , he's a little senior , that just needed extra love and attention. read more

Love this place! It's so fun to go in and visit all of the critters and of course the owners and friends. Places like this are few and far between. They do a lot of rescuing and so it's always really good to drop a few extra dollars into that jar to help support their efforts. read more

Kind of cool. Kind of gross. I did see several animals that didn't look very healthy and the store was pretty dirty/run down. The owners stepped out and barely interacted with us. Bad customer service. I love the animals but definitely won't return. read more

This is a amazing pet store. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. The store is well supplied with everything I need for my Parrots and Dogs. The store is spotless and the animals are healthy and happy. I board my parrots here when I am out of town. This Summer we are building a new house and my Parrots have been down here most of the time. I have no issues with leaving my flock here. My birds love being here with all the attention they get from the staff. I would not board my parrots anywhere else! read more

Such an amazing local pet store. They're always so kind and welcoming here. They have an awesome selection of healthy foods for your furr babies. All the animals here are always well loved and taken care of. We love stopping by to buy supplies or food. Even just to stop by and say hello to all the animals they have here. We highly recommend this store, they're always helping locals and saving adorable kitties and giving them new homes. The new owners are wonderful people. I met Nathan at the Whidbey Island fair early last month and they had staged a reptile house. We struck a conversation with him for a while and he brought a baby Cali King Snake with him along with more reptiles. We noticed he had a baby California King Snake and I asked to take it out and see it. We ended up buying it at the shop a few days later. It is the sweetest little king snake with quite a voracious appetite. My husband and I are very happy with our new baby. They had just opened shop within the last year and the is place disorganized. They do not have a good selection of supplies yet a decent selection of animals. If they had more organization and more supplies I would definitely give them 4 stars. It's a good pet shop and worth a trip to look at their pet selection. read more

You basic old-fashioned pet store that smells a little bit like pee (but not in a bad way). Big variety of smalls rodents and reptiles. Staff was friendly. Great place to run in and buy treats when we're island hopping with our dog. read more

I urge anyone with a pet, from reptiles, birds, dogs, cats, and more to go to this unique pet shop. The owners, Debbie & Nathen Wilkie are true animal LOVERS. They love them all and this extends to my reason for writing this review, because they go above and beyond by taking any and all requests for special food or treats, they also foster and help the island by holding adoptions for the many unknown kittens that are found. They have a Dog Grooming ability in house in the back of the store so almost any and all your pets needs are served. The owners are open to letting anyone hold the pets they are considering purchasing almost like a mini petting zoo, with snakes, lizards, birds, guinea pigs, kittens, rabbits, parrots and my favorite is the BIG TORTOISE. This is a special PET shop and NOT just somewhere to buy Food & Treats, which you can get anywhere. So I urge anyone to shop there and support the local shop owner. read more

Try negotiating on prices if you find they are much higher than somewhere else on the island. Very friendly and helpful, independent groomer on site. Stock the better brands of food for cats and dogs. Has a very relaxed and inviting atmosphere.....unlike the big pet stores on the mainland. Will let you handle and visit with pets that are in stock and go out of their way to help you find whatever you need. Give them a chance....opened on Sundays......love it. L read more

5-fish up 5-fish down the drain $. only one week of life then dead . my daughter is now crying and sad . I first smell dirty dog and then rodents and the fishtanks look green . I thought our CLEAN tank would be good but maybe its a green tank i should go with . Going green must be the way. DONT BUY FISH HERE !. read more
