We wouldn't hire Andy again and actually ended up firing him before all work was completed. Communication: D Craftsmanship: B- Work Ethic: C- Problem-Solving: C- Some of the kitchen cabinet installation is good (setting straightforward cabinet bases and uppers), some isn't so good (trim/crown miters with larger gaps, solving problems with cabinet issues/fillers). Some of the door and custom trim installation is good (simple-cut trim pieces) and some isn't so good (face-nails sloppy, door hinge installs a bit sloppy). We also did much of the prep work that Andy had signed up for but just didn't do in an acceptable, detailed manner (kitchen prep before cabinet install, floor/workspace protection from damage, cleanup). Overall though, much of the installation work was acceptable (but not outstanding). The main issues that led to firing Andy was really poor communication and problem-solving. Some installation problems seemed to overwhelm Andy and impacted progress and timely completion of planned work. Some work schedule issues seemed to stress Andy out and, without effective communication with us as his clients, derailed the project completion (failure to show up on scheduled work days, walking off the site in anger). Andy also had some difficulty staying focused on a logical and planned progression of the various project tasks. In the last interaction with Andy (after he was fired), he let us know that if we couldn't find anyone else to finish the remaining work that, without any "hard feelings", he'd return to finish, but at 1.5x his normal rate. Nope - we found a very qualified trim carpenter to finish up on Task Rabbit. Ultimately, these issues didn't work for us, especially with the flexibility we offered and the amount we were paying Andy. Perhaps more experience working with real-world clients will help Andy with future projects, but not any of ours.

Eventually, 11:40 AM rolled around and he called to inform me he just bought the required hardware but that he had an emergency call. I was understanding and we agreed to reschedule to 9 AM on the 2nd of July. During that conversation, I was promised that I would be the first thing he attended to on the 2nd. On the 2nd, I received no form of communication from Steve, and only when I called him at 9:30 AM was I told that he would call me back. at 9:40 AM I received a phone call from him telling me he was on his way. However, by then I had rescheduled with another service. In total, I spent a total of about 4 hours waiting around for him over 2 days, and if you have that kind of time by all means hire him.

I also felt provoked and threatened, because the HOA mgr. Kami, called me on October 16, 2024, she literally scolded me (as though I was a child) and told me that Nick, owner of Pure Choice, said I threatened to write a google review, which I NEVER did. Due to his dishonesty, I felt it was warranted to tell my truth. Pure Choice Construction was hired by the ACCU, Inc. HOA mgmt company for my townhome community to replace 46 decks for each homeowner. On 9/30/24 my deck was torn down. On 10/1/24 Pure Choice workers cut the underground cable line which disrupted my service for over 10 hrs. Although both the cable and utility companies flagged the work area to alert the workers where NOT to dig. Nick NEVER offered to get my services restored, he didn't even offer to compensate me until I said it's only fair that I be compensated. Only then he offered a small compensation, which I appreciated. It took me several hours of phones calls on my cell phone, (because my landline, tv, wifi and internet were all disconnected), and emails to no vail to both Nick and the HOA office. I took it upon myself and contracted my cable company, who requested a work service order for me, and was scheduled for 10/2/24. The cable company's quick response was due to my heart diagnosis, and I needed to have my landline available in case of a medical emergency. Being a senior, this horrible experience caused me immense stress, both emotionally and medically which should have NOT been my responsibility to rectify. I hope Pure Choice make sure their workers are skilled, experienced and licensed in the future to avoid this dilema happening to another medically compromised senior. After comparing notes with other neighbors I know Joe and Action are fairly priced and very competent.
