Entrance from Teel Family Pavilion. $1.5/hr street parking. $.35/hour street parking on Sundays only. Parking Ticket is $75. There is also a paratransit bus services that you can consider. They have Docent tour every hour to guide guests around highlighted areas of museum. The original museum (first picture of the building behind the windows) linked to Crockers family residential previously which is an Italian Victorian building. The family bought arts around the world to fill up their museum collection. The current Crocker museum is the new museum, it linked together with the old museum. There is a superstitious belief which making the Crocker museum flooring is not even at some areas, as they believe it will competing with the other power if they make it all even. April 2026 exhibition visit: ***Third floor: royal chicano air force art and activism: full of screenprinting posters. It has modern art from Davis university artists, donated landscape paintings (six centuries of painting from Museo de Arte de Ponce (Puerto Rico)), Asian wing. *Screenprinting history room. These 4 gentlemen's on the picture was doing security for the Safeway demo event. The jeep was donated, they just were done the beer run and stuck into womens' parade. *Jose Montoya, the artist of Pachuco screenprinting is graduated from Sac state university. Pachuco is a screenprinting from Mexico which Jose visited to learn the techniques. Rifa por vida: FOR LIFE! *It has Ofrenda corner which is honoring deceased loved one. *Flaming June (the lady in orange dress with the ocean behind her with sunlight with the brown drapes surrounding her chair): oil on canvas. Very beautiful. Check it out before these 3-month exhibition is over- until June 2026!! *Ruben: one of the three wise men. *Sunday morning in the mines: this is two painting become one. One side is people reading bible and relaxing, while the other side is people partying. ***Second floor: *ceramics: Raven Halfmoon ceramics (Okla Homma Ohoyo). *feminism (Dutch German): Frida painting. Frida had back injury from bus accident which made her suffering for the rest of her life. Frida was really into mirrors. This museum might need 3-4 hours minimum to visit to really enjoy every rooms and exhibitions.

A noteworthy piece from the Ponce museum collection, on loan.

I'm going to divert from my food/restaurant reviews for something uniquely special, as I do occasionally. I hadn't visited this well known museum since before the striking Richard Meier addition was built, sometime between 2005-2010, so quite awhile. The main entance is no longer through the gorgeous front doors of the historic Crocker house, but rather through the white clad modern addition. As museums go this one is truly remarkable. For a second tier city, albeit the Capital, the collection is broad, comprehensive and very noteworthy. It has one of the largest pottery and ceramics collections, and the displays are beautifully done. Some of the pieces are quite unique, in a variety of styles. In the contemporary portion there's a significant array of social justice pieces. It's well worth seeing it. They have visiting/traveling exhibits and there's one currently from a private collection from the museum in Ponce, Puerto Rico. The art spans centuries. The California artists collection is as expected, quite noteworthy. It covers from the Crocker's original donations to the contemporary. Both the historic and new buildings are worthy the visit just to see the architecture. I will be going back very soon as there is so much to see!

After a day of thrifting till we dropped it was time to do something different. I have NARM passes so we decided to visit the Crocker Art Museum. NARM stands for North America Recipitical Museum. It's a program where you pay an upfront fee to visit as many museums you want in a year. We belong to this program and allow us to visit the Crocker Art Museum and most other Musuems in the area all we want. It's a great program and worth it to see multiple Musuem. My mom loves visiting places with out having to pay for each adventure. It makes her feel like she's getting something for free and she loves freebies. You can get this membership with Crocker, it's the Associate Membership for $200. It incudes Free admission for 2 adults 1 guest and children under 18 and ArtMix tickets every month. There is a little glitch to the NARM membership from the Crocker, you won't be able to visit some of the local museums as they are too close in proximity to your home museums. That's why my home museums is the Charles M Schultz (aka Snoopy Museum). If you get the NARM membership from the Crocker you can go to the Charles M Schultz Museum all you want and there are ton of museums that qualify. We travel a lot and go to museums all over the county. The current exhibit is Feb 22-June 28, 2026 Rebels with La Causa (Main Gallery). I was surprised to see how many posters from Sacramento. I love seeing the new exhibits. The main new exhibit can be found on is on the 3rd floor. There are 2 other new exhibits on 2nd floor near the back near the original Museum. Every few months they rotate in new exhibits. You can keep up with the rotating exhibits on their website. I love going to their Art Mix. It's once a month on the 2nd Thursday at night from 6-9pm ages 18+ and are free for members and $25 for non members. We've joined for many years just to go to the art mixes. We usually get the Family Membership for $100 a year which gives you free admission for 2 adults and children under 18. We get this along with the NARM membership for the Charles M Shultz Museum for $125, then you get the best of both worlds. The monthly Art Mixes gets us to come monthly to the Crocker and we don't miss an exhibit.

A local favorite art museum. A wide variety of art. Clean and well presented. A wide variety of eras covered. A number of rotating exhibits. Art in an old victorian house and a new modern wing. Enough art pieces here to take 1-2 days to view. A must see at least once.

Went on a field trip to Crocker Art Museum and it was absolutely beautiful. From the 1st floor to the 3rd floor I was caught up in the amazing pieces, pictures and videography throughout the museum! If you haven't gone yet be sure to catch it!

Attended Art Mix in March 26. The alliteration was initially lost on me for the theme "Marsh Madness" - silly me. Enjoyed the drag show, music, art activities and meeting interesting people! The Astrobotanical blow up art exhibit was my fave! Complimentary photo experience with an emailed photo and take home print. Got the event poster signed by the artist also! Took a quick browse through some of my favorite collections before we left.

Wow. If you are an art fan and happen to be in Sacramento, do not miss the Crocker Art Museum! We live in Reno and I did not know about this place until an artist friend recommended it to me. I drove all the way here just to see this place (to catch an exhibit that was about to end) and it was so worth it! There is no dedicated parking lot so parking can be tricky. After driving around the neighborhood we ended up in a lot just outside of the museum. Lucky timing as we were able to grab the last spot! Adult admission is $15. I was advised to start on the top floor so that's where I headed. I walked off the elevator and right into the temporary exhibit that I especially came here for: Reform to Restoration: French Art from Louis XVI to Louis XVIII. I loved seeing all the academic drawings and the paintings reflecting the history of that time period. I asked a security guard a question about the exhibit and she was so informative - not just about this exhibit but about the whole musuem! I learned a lot from her and wish I knew her name so that I could thank her here. I next went through the contemporary art rooms and was impressed with their collection! And even better was the American Art , 1800 - 1945 exhibit. I loved the work by California landscape painters, many of whom went to Paris to study alongside French Impressionists. I know this because the Crocker does an excellent job of having informative descriptions of each piece. Many art museums will simply put the name of the artist, the name of the piece, and the year it was painted/created. The Crocker provides those as well but also information about the subject and a paragraph about the artist! There is also a "look for" line to give you more insight about the art pieces. Thanks to my helpful security guard "tour guide," I made my way through a little bridge that connects the museum to the Crocker mansion, where you can see more art displayed along the walls and you can walk through areas like the former ballroom. I made my way over to the Anthony Van Dyck exhibit which is a wonderful collection of academic drawings and etchings. There is a cafe that was not open when I was there, but they do appear to have alternating food trucks available in the courtyard. Overall, I very much enjoyed the Crocker Art Museum!

You could spend hours in this art museum. The beautiful art, the calming atmosphere, the lovely interior and exterior design of the building. I went for one of their concert series performances and was surprised by how nice the venue space was, which I prob shouldn't have been considering how nice the rest of the building is. Lots of comfy seats and very good sound. They also had a food truck out out front and now offer drinks inside during this time! I've gone to this museum a lot though and during regular hours is usually not packed unless there is an event which makes a great place to relax and enjoy the art around you.

Visited Crocker Art Museum during a trip to Sacramento and I was not disappointed! It's one of the best museums I've seen and I visited on a Sunday morning, which meant there weren't a lot of people in the galleries - there were times when I was the only person in the gallery! I was impressed with the art selections and getting through the museum was easy and straight forward. Looking forward to my next visit!

During a heatwave that extended into the weekend, I was trying to think of a family activity/outing that would keep us cool. My 13 year old (who has a fondness for art & history) suggested that we visit the Crocker Art Museum. My wife and I hadn't been in years (I believe the last time I visited was when I was in grade school), so we loved this idea and were excited! Unfortunately, this was a last minute decision, so we would only have 1.5 hours to enjoy before they closed. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly employee at the desk who issued our tickets. We started at the French art exhibits, which if I'm being honest, I found to be boring and a bit depressing. However, this feeling quickly dissipated when we entered the modern art sections. One of my favorite pieces of artwork was "Empanadas Dulces/Sweet Turnovers;" something about seeing a multigenerational family coming together to accomplish one goal is beautiful to me. Overall, we enjoyed the Crocker Art Museum and are planning a return visit for the near future (this time around we'll plan for a longer visit)!

I came to the Crocker mansion years ago. They updated the building to house a huge number of artifacts and art. They have some good paintings from Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Mexico etc. A good place to see this kind of art if you're in the area. They have some other art from Polynesia, Africa, Asia and most of the world. I recommend at least a few hours there is a lot to see.

We always have a great time exploring when we come to the Crocker Art Museum. We came specifically for the Black Artists in America exhibit and it did not disappoint. Whenever I leave this particular museum I just feel more cultured and a little smarter for having gone. They do a great job. Well worth the time spent.

We are truly blessed to have this wonderful art museum in our city. Why? They had Descubra: free family day last Sunday with glass art on the third floor, craft making, live & DJ music, entertainment including Lucha Libre, car show, food vendors, craft vendors & free concha bread that lasted from 11-3 PM. It was fun to enjoy & watch! What's nice was their entertainment was in their open courtyard as well as in the back open & shady areas. Their car show was outside in front of the museum but we didn't check it out much as it was bit too windy for my wife. My wife loves their gift shop too! She even purchased a crossbody purse there. She loves shopping in there. Yes pricy but worth it. Go figure we just came from Lodi street faire & she didn't find anything she wanted in Lodi. Maybe bc they were like flea market vendors? She's a bit fickle when it comes to shopping! We actually had a huge lunch before attending this event that I forgot they had a cafe in there! I kept getting ice water from the cafe bc we were outside watching the live entertainment! It was cool yet very sunny thanks to the obnoxious winds! Thank GoodDay Sacramento for advertising this event as well as Facebook! This was not our first time here nor it won't be our last! Just thankful we have this museum in the heart of our city. It was our first time being here for nearly three hours though! We lucked out with street parking a block away too!

My review is focusing on this specifically, due to the significance of the internment in my family's life. Information specific to the book / this event: The Ireichō is a book listing every person of Japanese ancestry incarcerated in the World War II camps. The Ireichō is currently making its way across various stops in the US, allowing family members and those that knew the incarcerated to stamp their loved ones names as a way to honor them and what they endured and their strength. After the tour, the book will be gifted to the Japanese American National Museum (in LA). The stamping of the Ireichō occurred inside the main entrance of the museum, and the museum graciously allowed those stamping the book to tour the rest of the museum. Museum staff and the staff hosting the event were very welcoming. The museum itself has both long-term and short-term exhibits, listed on their website. It's fitting that they currently have a temporary exhibit at this time called, "Kokoro: The Story of Sacramento's Lost Japantown", from December 20, 2025 to March 29, 2026. If you're interested in some of CA's history, it makes for a nice stop. It is Downtown Sac, so it's all paid street parking or lots in the vicinity. There is a lot right across the street.

There were several rooms to walk through with magnificent sets. There were also numerous displays and descriptions educating visitors about the impressionism art movement, the life and history of Claude Monet, and the stories of many of his pieces. Lovely instrumental music and the sounds of nature (birds, bees, frogs) could be heard during this entire event, especially the gentle melodies of the piano. The immersive exhibit after the bridge room is not to be missed. It's a relaxing space with seating available as well as rugs and carpeted flooring, a bit warm in here (the AC not as strong), however it was a soothing experience nonetheless with images projected on all four sides, including on the floor (everywhere except the ceiling). Monet's collection of art was showcased on repeat including his water-lilies series, "Impression, Sunrise" painting, and The Artist's Garden at Giverny. I spent about 30 minutes in here taking in the changing scenery. Some exhibits were interactive, one in which visitors could color and post their own "masterpiece". And there was even a VR experience that cost $5 extra (no thanks). The gift shop at the end sold puzzles, pillows, cookbooks, kitchenware, umbrellas, and plenty of other lovely souvenirs and accessories featuring Monet's art. Parking was $15 on site, or $5 at one of two parking lots across the street. Despite not being happy about the parking fees, I had a wonderful time here.

Old trees, charm, all the houses nearby are different - my Grandma - a fairly well off city girl from Europe approved - and I can see why. Coming to the USA with nothing but two suitcases and 3 kids she quickly worked her way up to the Land Park neighborhood. A stunning house with 4 car garage, metal roof and pool. She loved old Sacramento and looked down on village or town or junky places. She too good for that. Piggy was too good for that. The romantic river once had the pirate boat shows - pig pig loved them. The old bridge - I love driving over that. Come here stretch your legs - now is the perfect time before it heats up for the summer.

I like to walk here and listen to the water and watch the boats move through the river. I also love the views of the Tower Bridge off in the distance. Parking can be a headache, but there are some good seafood spots and you could even do a river cruise. There's just something about hanging out near the water that feels grounding and peaceful and I always enjoy my walks and times in this area.

This is a very interesting area in which to spend some time. As we wandered through the rooms, we came upon an attendant. She wasn't there as an official docent, but as an employee of the state park system. System. She asked if we had any questions, and then answered everything. We wanted to know with very complete answers and told us a lot of information about the place. It was very informative. If you're in Sacramento, I recommend visiting the capitol. It's great to see where our state government really happens.

If we had more time, we would have taken one of the public tours, which usually last 45 minutes to an hour. We went up to the 4th floor thinking we might be able to listen in on the State Assembly session, but because of time constraints we had to leave and made our way down through the 3rd floor, 2nd floor, lobby, and basement. There's a lot to see, including the 1st floor Rotunda and county exhibits, the 2nd floor Senate and Assembly Chambers plus historic Governor's offices, and the 3rd floor portraits. There's definitely more to explore, and I'd like to revisit the California State Capitol Museum on another Sacramento day trip.

We bought our tickets for a first class rail excursion it was very cool. The train cars were refurbished and brought back to their original glory. One of my favorite parts was how interactive it was for kids. They have a scavenger hunt that keeps them engaged while exploring the museum, which makes it fun for the whole family. My kids loved searching for the clues while checking out all the different aircraft. There are planes both outside and inside the museum, and the exhibits are well laid out so you can take your time walking through everything. It's a great place if you enjoy aviation or just want something different and educational to do with the family. Definitely worth the visit. If you're in the area, I highly recommend checking it out!

There are a couple of Russian MIGs, but the rest of the collection are American aircraft. There were a few aircraft I have not see in any other air museum on the west coast, like the F-100D and the F-86L. I also went to see the Snoopy and the Red Baron Exhibit. There were a lot of comic strips to view. I really like how they were blown up and not newspaper sized, because they were easier to read that way. I wish the screens would show all of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and What Have We Learned Charlie Brown instead of just the Red Baron excepts. It eventually got repetitive as I was reading the strips. I like how they have a cafe inside the museum. There was no food available within walking distance that I could see. I had the tuna melt. It was fresh and very good.
