Before I get started if your considering this company DONT here is why. Mark Kaplan came to my home and went through each room making his own notes on everything I required moving. I gave him full access to every nook and cranny and let him make his own notes as I wanted the company to also pack my belongings. Based on his finding he then sent me a quote which was initially very attractive, it comes with a full page Guaranteed price (OR SO I THOUGHT). The day came for removal and they turned up on time and packed all my belongings and off the truck went. 3 days or so into our journey as we were driving to Florida I get a call from Mr Kaplan "It seems we needed to use a lot more boxes than estimated" was the gist of the conversation. Well you provided the estimate and if anything I have reduced my inventory not increased it so its not my fault I replied. You then get a call from Amanda Rey. We have a problem there were more boxes than intended its and extra $2295.00 (THE CLASSIC BAIT & SWITCH). At this point you are well and truly S.....d !! they have your belongings on a truck and you wont see it unless you pay the extra. They will tell you, they will open a claim (give you a false claim number but will never do anything with it, see later). So I paid and my belongings turned up, in fairness the team unloading were very good except when they purposely mentioned they had taken my TV's out of a wooden crate in the van ( long story but Kaplan told me my 4K TV's would need a wooden crate which did not happen and when I complained about this lo and behold it was mysteriously in the van, well I went out to the van there was no wooden crate to be seen, MORE LIES and DECEIPT). So now the full reveal begins, as we started to unpack the reason for the extra boxes became very clear. Cross Country Movers are experts in packing boxes with PAPER !! not your belongings or not much but lots and lots of paper (see photographs) not only that they can wrap a single plastic bowl in 4 sheets of paper and a single plastic lid in 3 sheets of paper (so they wont break!!) and then they stuff it full of more paper. So it went on and on, we have bags and bags of paper not small bags 60 gallon bags. Stay well away from this company they will rip you off. BIG TIME

Take your business somewhere else UPDATE: The manager replied saying it's a web offer good for 3 months and even when the price doubles it's still a good price. Find the attached screenshot - their websites never mentions the 3 months deal, 5x5 room goes up to $76 per month which is the worst price around, you can get a 5x10 at the storage next door

Coming from Urban Storage, also new, I love how this has the extra touch of individual unit alarms and high surveillance. The office is neat, clean and pleasant: no strange odors or dirty floors. The actual storage facilities are well-maintained and the loading dock is accessible to any location your unit is. Fast, professional and hassle-free: registration is easy, straightforward and this is a fabulous experience so far.

I rented a unit at 1st Ave Storage for close to 20 years, and management used to be great there (I…read morebelieve Emmet(?) was the longtime manager there, but he left a few years ago). I just recently moved out, as things have gotten shadier and shadier around there. The security/safety around the building has become questionable, especially with the RV camp out back. With that said--the worst part, frankly, is the owner. Charlie is his name, and he basically refused the pro-rated refund that 3 people working at his facility ALL said I would receive. I did a speedy move out April 16, as the manager there told me I could get the pro-rated refund if I cleared my unit out asap, rather than wait until end of month. Great! Sadly, I never received the refund, and even thought the 3 different employees told me I should get it--Charlie apparently refused to follow through, telling his manager "we don't pro-rate". But... all 3 of your employees told me you do...!? When I asked to have Charlie call me directly, I was told Charlie said: "I don't talk to customers directly." I explained I would warn people on Yelp if Charlie doesn't bother calling me back, and his reply (through his employee, since he doesn't talk to customers): Fine, post on Yelp. Additionally, when I rented a U-Haul from them, the gas tank was not even filled. Apparently owner Charlie keeps just a quarter tank in there, claiming it's due to the RV camp stealing gas. But... he will penalize truck renters if they don't return the truck at exactly the maybe kinda quarter-ish level the tank had. Makes it real hard for truck renters to fill up ONLY the amount they use. Hmmm... SO... Be warned. Charlie the owner does not follow through, and frankly does not step up when he should. I moved to another storage facility that provided better rates in a more convenient location... and a safer location. I didn't realize perhaps the best benefit to moving: not supporting a shady owner. I'm giving 2 stars rather than 1 because of the years of good service I had when previous management was great, the place was more secure, and shady business practices didn't impact me. I guess owner Charlie's integrity was lost in parallel with the decline of the community around there :-\ Buyer beware--think twice before using 1st Ave Storage.

I reserved a Uhaul truck and furniture dolly 1 month in advance for 24/7 pickup and talked to a…read morewoman at Issaquah Highlands Self Storage to confirm by phone 2 days prior, yet neither was ready when I arrived. I was told to come back in 2 hours, and when I did, I learned they didn't have a dolly, nor one at all for a while. The staff had 1 month to ensure they would have the inventory for my reservation, yet they took zero responsibility for their mismanagement. The male front desk representative showed no empathy or accountability, saying they were just a Uhaul "partner" and telling me to call Uhaul myself. Perhaps he didn't understand what the word "partner" meant, a term used to indicate supporting one another, in this case, between Uhaul and Issaquah Highlands Self Storage - something this man demonstrated he didn't know how to do. After 30 minutes on hold, Uhaul's only solution was sending me to another location 30 minutes away in Redmond, a 1-hour roundtrip, with no compensation for the time or gas. I instead did my own research and drove 10 mins to Issaquah Newport Self Storage, where a representative there pulled some strings and got me both a truck and dolly for same-day rental from her own location in 15 minutes, hassle-free. She did this without us having to explain the awful experience we had at Issaquah Highlands storage. She even took care of calling Uhaul to issue me a refund for the unmet reservation earlier. The difference in service between these storage businesses were night and day.
