What attracted me to this place was that I saw they had a pumpkin beer and a peanut butter porter on tap. I was worried the atmosphere might not be that unique but I honestly loved it. It's small and they have their brewing equipment up at the front of the brewpub and some local art on display as well which is a nice touch. I was so glad to try the pumpkin beer and peanut butter porter and the bartender even recommended mixing the two which turned out to be a nice combo. The employees were friendly, the beer was solid (and they have other beer and cider not brewed by them), full bar, and a variety of seating options (couches, high tops, picnic tables). Stopped in here late at night during the week. It wasn't terribly crowded, they have an outdoor patio. And in addition to the beer on draft, they also have a small liquor selection at the bar. So I was able to get it tequila and soda. The waitress was very good, and she offered to let us stay while she was cleaning up. The downsides are it's not a very distinctive décor or furniture choice. So it's not really leaving you with anything memorable. If they stepped up the restaurant layout and decor a little bit better maybe they would be able to bringing more clients. read more

As a non-local who travels quite a bit, we always look to find the local craft brewery restaurants. We love to try local beer and typically find that breweries have family friendly menus and atmospheres. In town for a gymnastics competition we thought this would be the spot. I will say- the beer was good- delicious in fact. However, the staff was not friendly and clearly did not want our teenagers there during their Saturday evening rush. The food was okay, and it made me a little sad. I've been in 6 states in the last 6 weeks. This is the first place I felt like we were unwanted. It's unfortunate since we come to this area for competitions and won't return. I hope they reconsider their treatment of paying customers. read more

My buddies and I have been visiting this place for a few years. My biggest complaint was that they didn't serve food. Yes, you could order from local establishments and have it delivered or bring in your own food, but that wasn't convenient. Finally, they now serve food and it's delicious, but a little on the salty side. I had the blu bomber (chicken) burger with fries. So here are my new complaints: 1) The waitresses will take drink orders at your table, but you have to get up from your table and stand in line to place your food order with a guy at a podium. WTH??!?!?! That makes no sense at all. Why can't one waiter/waitress take both food and drink orders? 2) The outdoor dining (during COVID) is a great solution EXCEPT you're in the middle of the parking lot which is not all that attractive and you're blocking the main route through the parking lot which will be a major problem when the adjacent store shops are soon occupied. 3) This place is very small, so once the weather gets cold and outdoor seating isn't an option, it will be difficult to social distance inside. It's going to be tough for this place to compete with the newly opened Warped Wing. read more

One of my favorite local Dayton breweries. They have a few good flag ship beers I'd recommend, starting with Roadside Peanut Butter Porter, Matchstick Amber and Short Fuze IPA. Seasonal beers are awesome, especially Krooked Kringle and Witcher Pumpkin Ale They also have a lot of experimental beers they put out throughout the year. We stopped in to Crooked Handle not too long after they opened. The space is open, clean, and inviting. There are a variety of seating options but we chose the comfy leather couches. This was perfect for our group! As soon as you walk in you will notice all of the brewing supplies to your left. We met one of the owners and he was extremely friendly. He gave us a tour that was both informative and enjoyable. I especially liked learning how they started and you could hear the passion in his voice. I liked the variety of beer styles that they offered and they were all pretty good. We opted for a flight in order to try them all! There is no food here but you can bring it in if you'd like. The group next to us had some local pizza and I was pretty jealous. One downside when we went was the number of kids running amok through the place. I should note that we went on a Saturday evening, not in the afternoon or something. While we were on the tour they even moved our drinks and coats in order to use the table to play a game. Not cool. I will say the staff handled it well though and promptly apologized. This is definitely worth a stop while crawling around to Dayton breweries and I am excited to see what they do next! read more

I went there today with two friends. One had the Reuben, one had the Classic Burger, I had the Bacon Bleu Bomber. We were all very pleased with the food. I have long been a fan of bacon blue burgers and I have over the years ordered an embarrassingly large number of them and I can honestly say this was the best I ever had. For an app we had an order of wings and they were perfect. I learned they smoke their wings and then fry them, I also learned they make their wing sauces in house. I especially loved the blue cheese sauce. My only quibble, and it's a small one, I would have liked my steak fries just a bit more done. It's a personal preference. Service was efficient, professional, and very personable and friendly. Our main waitress, I think her name was Katie, totally completed a most enjoyable dining out experience. She was a gem. This might not be the "in thing" but definitely 5 Stars on the Hefeweizen. Being burned out on a steady diet of IPA's, DIPA's, RIPA's and all the other bitter ales, my craft beer tastes have migrated Belgium and German styles. I've been looking for a decent Hefeweizen that is similar to the traditional versions of this style I've experienced in Germany and Austria. The American versions are nice too, but CH's version of a true unfiltered, well crafted, balanced beer hits the Bavarian Hefe style right on the head. Its right there with Weihenstephaner and Aryinger brewery's offerings. A yowler went down almost too smoothly after finishing the lawn last evening. Gratz man, appreciate someone willing to move towards the tastes of us who want something a little different. read more
