Was there at 9:15pm last night. Only one other couple was sitting at the bar on our left. Everyone else was outside listening to the band. The bartender was looking up on her phone how to make their drink. We stood at the bar for 10 minutes, waiting to place our order, never acknowledged by the bartender or owner who was playing with the frozen drink dispenser As the bartender finished the couple's drinks, another lady came up to the bar on my right. Bartender walked directly to her and took her order, still ignoring us. This was not our first visit here, and not the first time service has been bad. We won't be coming back. Unfortunately Yelp makes me give them a star. read more

I came here on Taco night to get one of my final stamps on the Dayton Ale trail. The inside is quite large but somewhat dark. I was starving but unfortunately on taco night we found out they only have those and not the full menu. I got several tacos but they werent great and very greasy (not in a good way). The beertender was super friendly and helpful, she was the best part. My beer was ok. We sat outside on the nice patio as it was a nice evening. We enjoyed our Sunday late afternoon/early evening visit to this semi-hidden gem, located just off the main drag of downtown Miamisburg. Dark, cozy, and plenty of great choices for just about any beer lover (and even their non beer-loving spouse...!!) I loved the artsy Mexican theme here, and the industrial/warehouse feel of the place. Bigger than it looks, there's plenty of room to hang out with friends and enjoy a few brew, and some Mexican food off their menu, which we didn't try this visit. Once again, it's been interesting and enjoyable "discovering" all the great area breweries. Tons of hard work and dedication go in to making all of these places go from a dream to a reality, and it really shows!! Congratulations, Lucky Star... Not really impressed. They have a large selection of beers but the beers never seem to be cold enough and I've had a few that tasted flat. The best drinks here are the frozen drinks. The pina colada is good. The decor is Latino style. Kind of odd to see in Miamisburg but it's cool. Located in an old warehouse. They do serve food but overpriced for the helpings that you get. We typically stop in after going to Star City to see if they have live music playing. They do have a pool table. Their beer just isn't my thing. Explored downtown Miamisburg with the fam. It's a small cute little area with a few sports bars and we found this gem of a brewery. From the outside, it's super easy to miss. But once inside, super welcoming! It was a Sunday so we didn't know it closed 45 mins after we arrived but that didn't change the service at all. We were given great suggestions and our food came out fresh and super tasty. If you read my reviews, I'm a nacho lover, and I must say, these nachos were impressive. The cheese to chip ratio was pretty on point! We will definitely venture back to watch the big screens and maybe play a little air hockey. read more

We thought we'd try a new place we have never been here locally so while driving around we noticed lucky star brewery after both agreeing we decided this is the place. First after walking in we noticed a keyboard player in the bar area entertaining the guest with his singing. The atmosphere is dimmed lighting and a lot of different colors of paint on the walls sort a like a garage type feeling with pool tables and a large television. The barmaid who was also the hostess and our waitress was very friendly and she took our drink order and we ordered chips with refried beans as an appetizer which was good but very salty and greasy. We then took a look at the menu. She ordered a chicken quesadilla and I ordered the shrimp fajitas. The quesadilla wasn't very good and the chicken looked like it came from a can of Swansons chicken plus it was only two halves of a quesadilla instead of four. When she placed the shrimp fajitas on the table I couldn't believe how small the portion was! Around 5 small shrimp with a lot of green peppers very little onions and a side of sour cream and salsa (no trimmings like shredded cheese, refried beans or anything and the three Tostitos was so tough like they've been microwaved too long ...Maybe the beer is what keeps this little joint going but since we don't drink I can't tell ya....The one star is for the sweet girl aka (barmaid,hostess,waitress) .... read more

We came here to pick up some beer of which there were two good IPA selections (Lucky 14 and Nuevo Mexico) which was served in optional Howelers and 64 oz Growelers. I grabbed a shirt for Nicole too. Thankfully they were open for take out. We also had a breakfast burrito with chorizo which was a little on the greasy side. No chips and guac tho. This place will be a lot of fun and when open: Bicycle racks shaped like cacti; and a beautiful brick building adorned with festive lights. It would be nice if they stocked canned beer too but I'm not complaining. read more

I found myself with a free evening during a recent work trip to Ohio, so I Yelped for places to visit in the area. Being from San Diego, I am very familiar with our craft beer scene and was hoping (but definitely not expecting) to find someplace with good local brews. Lucky Star Brewing was first on my list, so I went in on a Thursday shortly after they opened for the evening. When I arrived, the place was empty with the exception of the bartender. I grabbed a stool at the bar and browsed the beer menu, which is on a big chalkboard on the wall. I decided to do a flight of beers to get a good feel for their style - my picks were: 1. We Stole This Beer Name (Russian Imperial Stout) 2. Ojos Locos (Pale Lager) 3. The IPA 4. Black Hole (Schwarzbier) 5. Chill Pill (Pilsner) There was a 6th pick, but I can't remember what it was. Overall, the beer was just OK. Their IPA was surprisingly non-hoppy, most of the other beers ranged from mild to a bit tasteless. The stout had the most flavor and ended up being my favorite choice. Another reason I decided to try out Lucky Star Brewery was due to their in-house menu. Having limited transportation in a town I was not familiar with, it was an attractive option to be able to drink and dine in the same spot. They offer a Mexican-inspired cantina menu with quesadillas, burritos and tacos to name a few. Being vegetarian, I was excited to see they had avocado quesadillas and cheesy bean tacos, so I ordered one of each. The quesadilla had nice, ripe slices of avocado inside, but the shredded cheese was not melted all the way, which was disappointing. The bean taco was a bit better, but nothing to write home about. I also asked for a side of their green salsa, which was pretty mild but managed to spice things up just a bit. My experience was an enjoyable one mostly due to Natalie, who was pulling beers that evening. She was so friendly and because it wasn't very busy that night, we had a great conversation and I stayed longer than I probably would have otherwise. Kudos to her for being a lovely employee and all around person! I wasn't particularly impressed with Lucky Star Brewing, but if you are a beer enthusiast it may be worth a stop. I think personal taste just varies from city to city, state to state - there was a patron at the bar from another part of Ohio that swore up and down that Ohio has a craft beer scene "just like San Diego," which I think is doubtful, but to each their own. read more

I only come here when the local Pub Run happens so I don't have much experience with this place other then during that time. I find them to have a good selection of beers. I've always found one or two I enjoy. The place isn't big, but they have a nice outdoor area for when the weather is nice. I appreciate that they have food in house because a lot of breweries don't, but it's really not that good. It's just really basic, small sized Mexican food. For the price I expected better. The staff is always great, but a suggestion for the owner - on Pub Run nights have more help. If you don't get back to order quickly it takes a long time to get food. The other thing I like about here is that it's family friendly. I've brought my kiddos and husband to Pub Run nights and it's great that make them feel welcomed. read more

Awesome little brewery in Miamisburg! The beer and food were both great but what really made it all come together was the amazing service. The bartender Sara was so friendly, explained both the food and bar menus in great detail and she was so friendly! It's a brewery with great beer, but don't overlook the frozen drinks, they are amazing! The quesadillas and fresh salsas were all homemade and fantastic. Good live music and drinks. We took a friend-couple from Dayton here after a nice dinner out. It was an enjoyable way to end the evening by sipping a microbrewed beer or margarita and listening to some good live music while we chatted. These stage musicians are just so impressive! We wish the music wasn't quite so loud, but it's that way everywhere. We place a higher priority on talking with each other than on listening to the music. Let's talk about Lucky Star... 14 beers on tap. Root beer. Some food (without going overboard). Sugar skull themed. Bright colors. Old church? Plenty of seating. They're one of the few breweries I've gone to that are doing a lager! Their lower IBU beers I feel need some work - some taste a little watered down. But their grapfruit ale? Wicked Step Mutha Sweet Stout? Ball & Chain Saison? A chili beer that has this salsa flavor? They have quite a few solid offerings. I really recommend getting a flight and seeing which ones you may/may not like (and just because you "don't like that style" isn't a reason to not try a small pour of what may be a better version of that style). I hit this place up three times - ate some amazing sliders once - and brought home two growlers. It's definitely worth the visit. read more

I'm a huge fan of Lucky Star Brewery! Walking in, you're just hit with tons of colors and fun decor, you can tell you're in for a good night! This place is a brewery with a Mexican twist! I came with a group of people for Taco Tuesday! On Tuesday's they have $1 tacos and also offer guacamole and salsa. We started off with some chips and guac which was delicious! Next we decided to try one of each taco offered, because they were so cheap! The tacos came in a crispy homemade shell, but were a little dry, for a $1 though I can't be too picky! So onto the drinks, because this is a brewery! The sampler is a really great way to try a bunch of the beers plus it comes in a cute little star shape, which I loved! The Ojos Locos and Ojos Limey are comparable to Bud Light and Bud Light Lime, but I thought they were a good pale ale type beer. My favorite was the Lucky Griffen which was a Hefeweizen. I also tried the margaritas which aren't the big jumbos but they are strong! Great for the non-beer drinkers in the group! Give this place a try for a fun night with friends! read more

I have been to Lucky Star four times in the 10 years I've been in Miamisburg. Every time I've been there I've had atrocious service and flat flavorless or strange tasting beer. I went for Cinco de mayo which I understand it's a busy day. But every time I have been there there's doesn't seem to be any interest in improving. I waited 30 mins outside with it being during the quarantine. There was no order or anyone telling people what to do. After 30 minutes an employee told me I had to be in line. The "line" was randomly placed bar stool around the parking lot. Make a line with the bar stools! I came back an hour later and waited another 30 minutes. I understand that it's busy. But there was no rush to get my order or anyone else's. You as a business owner have no interest in improving your business. Stay away if you want good service or even decent beer. My photo is what I waited 2 hours for. 5 tacos and two drinks. Not worth it to me. read more

First off: the food. Even if you don't care for beer, just stop in during kitchen hours and have some awesome Mexican food. The house made sauces and salsa are worth the stop. On nights they're serving the green chili sliders, it's worth the drive from Cincinnati. (I've heard Tuesday's are even more amazing with the different taco selections.) Now the beer: there's always a good selection. The Ojos Locos is a favorite of mine. They brew speciality beers often, and you better get there the day of the tapping if you want to try it; they go quickly. Too quickly. :-( Overall the atmosphere here is awesome. It's kid friendly, which is a bonus since we always have our toddler with us, just use your best judgment when bringing a kid along with you based on the time. The owners are usually around and friendly to chit chat with. And the crew is always friendly and knowledgable about the beers they're selling. This is definitely one of my favorite places in the Dayton area. read more

Visited Lucky Star for the first time last night. I enjoyed "Red Light" Amber ale , "We Eat" pale wheat ale. Nice sessionable beers. Malty but thin or watery for my taste. I would drink them again. Ordered up tortilla chips and guacamole and quesadilla with chorizo. House roasted jalapeño and green chili salsas complimented the food. The salsas were spicy. Chorizo Quesadilla was tasty and good. I will order again. The guacamole was fresh but too mild for my tastes - a bit more lime is needed. The tortillas appear to be homemade quite tasty. New to the scene, Lucky Star Brewery offers an impressive selection of beer on tap. Flights are $6 and include 6 samples of their craft beers - brewed on site. My favorites are the Wicked Mother, Red Light, and the Root Beer (nonalcoholic). They offer a small appetizer menu with dips & chips, tacos, and quesedillas. The staff are super cool and friendly. My mom walked in from work today and said "honey, let's do something fun." Obviously, that means eating. So we were brainstorming some new, yummy, hip restaurants in the area and happened upon Lucky Star Brewery. She had heard from one of her friends that this was a hot little joint. We drive to Miamisburg and the brewery is a little off the beaten path from the main street. The front of the brewery is very fun, bright and attractive. I'm already excited to see what the inside holds. We walk through the front doors and its a great atmosphere. There are three large beer tanks on the right and a colorful bar on the left. The place gives off a very fun, hip, retro vibe. It reminds me of a restaurant in Phoenix. We head over to bar and are immediately greeted with a friendly smile, conversation and menu. Our waitress was great and explained the different beers and food. Also, did I mention, it's taco Tuesday...so $1 TACOS PEOPLE!! We are pleasantly surprised and decide to get more than one. All in all, I had a great, hysterical night with my mom and would highly recommend this place! P.S. I heard Thursday night, wing night is off the chain!! read more

The BEER is amazing! So many different types to choose from, not just IPAs. Loved the Russian Stout and the Lime Lager. From house margs to bloody marys, you know you are getting something made with a special little family touch. Wait staff is super friendly and welcoming. Loved everything about this place! Our waitress was super nice... she was super patient with all our questions and the best to advocate for their local brews. Pretty much every beer we had in our flights was on point... specially the Zombie Winter Ale and the Irish Red... we had to take a Growler home with us for super bowl. The food was amazing... I've been here a few times for the beer and it's been ok. It was our first time eating the food and we left not too impressed. The chips and guacamole were so heavily salted it was difficult to eat. My wife's chicken nachos can out with a very bland pulled chicken on top of chips with scant cheese and toppings. There was a yellow liquid at the bottom of the bowl and when I commented about it to the bartender, her reply was "Oh. Well we'll have to do something about that." Apparently, something meant nothing, as no manager came out to apologize, no replacement was suggested, no discount was offered. I had a steak burrito that was average. read more

Happy this place opened and it's good! I love going to downtown Dayton to enjoy the proximity of 5th St Brewpub, Toxic and Warped Wing, now have a similar option much closer in Miamisburg with this place and Star City. The non alcoholic Root Beer is awesome as is the milk stout. Wheat beer is also good, very nice for summer. Lager is solid. A very festive atmosphere. Guacamole is tasty. Another good addition to the Dayton craft beer scene. Will be back! read more
