It's July and there's a heat wave, so I've been avoiding the worst of it by spending my time inside and working to rehydrate. Dayton Beer Co., is one of the very nice spots where that's possible. The taproom was cool even when the sidewalk outside felt like it was melting. The big windows brought in the bright summer light without the punishment of actually being out in it. I brought my laptop and with my nice seat in the back next to a power outlet, I was able to get things charged, enjoy a pint and sit in the air conditioning undisturbed. Their beer list looked like a good spread of guest beers and their own core beers. A draft Paulaner was my first choice but hey, I can get that anywhere. The light options included their own Gem City Light and that worked very nicely. The space works for solo time in the afternoon, but it could also work for a nice meet up with friends. There's plenty of room to spread out and not feel like you're crowding anyone. I sat for two hours and no one minded at all! A decent bar. A unique night as my son and I came here just for the USMNT soccer watch party for the World Cup. Place was super crowded and the line for a beer and food was long. Drinks and food we got were pretty good. One big miss from the watch party piece of things is they had an outdoor seating area and even had a stage which would have been awesome to protect the game onto but they didn't and their TVs were not in sync so one would show the goal seconds before the one near it...was super annoying. Stopped in around 5 on a Friday. It hadn't gotten busy yet but had a decent amount of patrons. Great seeing the large tap board! Got an order of pretzel bites. It came out piping hot, soft and a nice coating of garlic butter, with a small cup of beer cheese. Later got tacos, tacos are super messy so be careful. Had 2 beers each so I sampled 4. It was a great relaxing stop after a rough workday. All thumbs up. Most of the beers are house brewed, some regional guest taps and a couple ciders. So we came in Wednesday before the Dragons game. Got our beers, sat down and all of a sudden -fire on grill outside went crazy and smoked everyone inside. Had to shut garage doors. Seems like no one could control it. This went on for about 15min. Meanwhile we all were getting concerned and the inside was pretty smoky too. We went to cash out and was told to get at end of line-which was 20people deep. Just to cash out our tab. Luckily, someone let me in front of him an it took all of a minute to cash me out. I'm not sure what was going on with POS but 20 people deep waiting for beer order seems to be a bit much. Beer was hit or miss too. A lot of competition around area. read more

Great place to hang out with friends with tvs, shuffle board, bocce ball, and a stage for entertainment. There are lots of beers to choose from with a wide variety of styles and tastes. Only thing I am not fan of with this place is the line to order. They really need to figure out a better system because the line always ends up blocking people coming through the entrance and in front of the bathrooms. Service could be quicker too. But I still think you should check it out if you haven't been! read more

We stumbled upon this brewery while driving around downtown Dayton. We saw the string lights and greenery around the patio and it looked so inviting that we had to check it out. They have a parking lot, as well as street parking, and we found a spot fairly easily. We visited on a Tuesday night, which is not only their trivia night, but also the night their local DBC pints are $3, so that was a nice surprise. The interior and outdoor areas are inviting and cozy, and there are plenty of places to sit. They have lots of beers on tap, and I especially liked their jalapeño beer--can't remember what it's called-- and a blood orange beer. Very refreshing and drinkable. If I'm back in the area, I would definitely return. There's a pizza place downstairs and it smelled so delicious, that I would have to try that next time too. read more

We like to visit local breweries. Some of our faves aroubd here are warp wing and toxic, we somehow always missed this place. We finally got a chance to check this place out, and I cannot say we are super impressed. The plus is that they have a very lovely outdoor patio, and it was very pleasant to drink beer today (not too hot or cold). The inside was nice and they had a good selection of local beers and wine in addition to their own brewery. Their beer was pretty alright! Be warned you need to leave your id behind with the bartender to get a flight, but understandably so. The flight tray is gorgeous. This is the first place where outside food isnt allowed, but it is not a big deal since they have a kitchen serving food on the second floor. The bartenders were not particularly friendly, and infact appeared as if they could not be bothered by us. I have to say this is surprising, every brewery so far has been super friendly and the people always appear to be enthusiast to their . My old man asked them to give us a flight of their best sellers, the lady just slid a paper at him and told him to fill it out. This probably not one of those must visit spots that i take visitors (ys brewery, toxic and warped are must for us). We will return another day to give it anither shot. read more

The service was as soggy as our nacho chips. Not very friendly, rude demeanor from the cashier at the bar. The nachos were so bad, the chips were stale AF and the beer cheese was at the bottom of the chips, almost non-existent making it soggy as well. What a waste of $25, I feel scammed. This place is so cool! I love where it is nestled in and it is such a relaxing atmosphere! The servers are kind and helpful and there are many drafts and craft drinks to choose from. One tip....Don't go in hungry, because there is no food except popcorn. I truly think they should have some kind of arrangements with the few restaurants around them to deliver to the brewery. As an avid beer drinker, I was very excited to try this place and unfortunately, was left wanting more, and here's why: -On Yelp I had seen several flights, and with their large selection of beers was excited to try several different kinds. They told us that both flights and samples weren't an option. After asking them what our next best option was they suggested we pay for a 5 oz pour. The staff wasn't super helpful in suggesting alternative options. -I requested their best hazy IPA (since those are my favorite) and was pretty disappointed in my beer. I was with someone who had a blonde blood Orange that tasted more like a hazy IPA than the one I was drinking. That one was very good. We also tried a raspberry bourbon barrel, which was pretty syrupy and sweet. The guava beer they had was okay but didn't have a distinguished guava flavor, it just tasted slightly fruity. -The atmosphere and bier garden were great, and made the experience enjoyable. With so many other beers left untasted, I would definitely give it another shot since the atmosphere was so redemptive. read more

I have enjoyed the Dayton Beer Company in the past. Beer has been good but mine last night, just ok. The pizza there used to be good but the food last night was horrible. Pizza flat bread, soggy and not good. Chicken nachos, no flavor at all, chips like stale bagged poor quality chips. Chicken sliders, no taste - no flavor, really just chicken and bread. Needs not slaw and stuff to add flavor. Won't get food there anymore. Went to the distillery side and they were very good. read more

Dayton has some good beer. It's home to a few breweries. This one is a newer brewery with a big selection of their own beer and many others. It has lots of space inside. The location isn't too bad for the area, and there's some free parking. I was impressed by the number of beers. It has about 12 beers of their own. There's about 20 more from other breweries in Ohio on tap. It has a good amount of hoppy to smooth bars. The Oregon Alley is an imperial IPA. It doesn't taste as hoppy as many other IPAs can. This seems to be one of the most popular. The brewery is located at Madison and Second. It's not a great neighborhood but it's not horrible. There's a few spots for free parking on streets. read more

Nice sized, comfortable place to hang out, drink a few pints, hang with friends, play games and schmooze. We didn't have the neighboring pizza offered, but the menus on the table looked tempting, so maybe next time. I had a great hazelnut stout (porter, can't remember which...) and the Mr. chose several different IPA's, his usual go-to. We'll be back in warmer weather to take advantage of their outdoor patio. My boyfriend and I were scoping out breweries in the Dayton area and Toxic Brew Company recommended coming here. Walked in and loved simple décor and it's very spacious. There's one side where you can play games (set up picnic tables), they have tables, lounge, and a big patio. I really love the feel of this place (very classy). My boyfriend and I wanted to try a flight. For $9.00 you get 6 tastings. My husband, dog Ziggy, and I walked here from not very far away. It's very close to another local brewery. I wasn't terribly fond of the beers I had (a hellerbier, an amber ale, and a hefeweizen). But I LOVED the biergarten that is DEFINITELY dog friendly. I even got to meet a few dogs there. I always have a great experience when coming to the Dayton Beer Company. The staff is friendly and they will always help when trying to decide on which beer to order. They have a great selection of craft beers and different wines to order from as well. If you're like me and have a difficult time on deciding on things, then you could order a flight and sample different kinds. The flight is served on a really cool wooden cutout of the the state of Ohio. I enjoy coming here because there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I have never had trouble finding a seat when coming here. I love seating outside on the patio tables on a nice night when the weather is perfect. This is a relaxing and casual place to get an ice cold craft beer with friends after a long week at work. If you want to order food, 2nd Street Pizza is now open and you could order a couple of pizzas to enjoy with your beer. It is located on the right of the entrance. Perfect place to unwind! read more

This is by far my favorite brewery in the area. The place itself is huge, lots of seating, and tons of great outdoor space during the summer. They have a really cool area set up with lawn games that is great to hang at. I typically only come here during Pub Runs, but they have no issues accommodating everyone. They also have a really good amount of beer on tap including lighter, blonder beers, which I prefer. Now this where I think they could use some work. Food. They have some random pizza place in the basement that cannot keep up with the amount of food that is being ordered during Pub Run. Is the food good? Yes. Worth the sometimes 40 minute wait? No. If they could figure out a way to take on food, this would make it a five star easily. The only other suggestion I have is to they need a bigger parking lot, but that seems to be an issue with all of downtown Dayton. read more

The bar is really big and has a lot of space. The outside is great when you want a relaxing environment to enjoy with your friends. I highly recommend this spot. Only downside was a friend told the bar tender to pick out 3 beers and he didn't tell him which ones were which so he couldn't order the ones he liked. read more

this beer place is pretty interesting, they have private and plenty of street parking as well. the inside is pretty well decorated and boy the have beer here. there are so many styles and types that it is like paradise for the beer lover. they have a great outdoor garden and some family style seating there as well. it is a pretty neat set up indeed. my friend loves it here since the staff is so friendly and they know their beer, they will always point the customer to the right direction when it comes to choose one of the super large menu of brews they offer. for me it was a bit of a let down in the adult beverage department, as I am not a beer drinker I only had the option of wine and bubbly so I stuck to the bubbles. they do not serve food here but they do have a pizza place next door who works with them to provide food, so the food ordering is with the next door pizza place. another neat thing here is that they are dog friendly and family friendly, saw plenty of dogs and kids here with their parents enjoying pizza and the outdoor garden. I will not come back here since I am not huge for beer, but it is nice to try if you are a beer lover, this may perhaps become your new Disney :D read more

A lovely local brewery with an attention towards the "local" part. They have a spacious interior, a large parking lot, and a pretty patio (that looks nice for warmer months!). Plus, a nice variety of seating types! I just wish they had an easier way to view the beer selection outside of the gigantic wall that's only viewable from a small portion of their space. PROS: -Large parking lot right next to Dayton Beer Company. Makes for easy parking if you have a DD. -Lots of interior space with varying levels of noise. I love that about DBC. There's a long room that has huge tables and bench seating - which tends to be pretty loud. There's the main area next to the bar which has some noise to it too. And if you walk around the corner, there are five tables which are far enough away from the bar (and separated by walls) that it's decently quiet. There were a couple of businesspeople conducting business discussions in here - that's how nicely-quiet it is over here. I loved it over here. -Lovely beer selection here. As long as your people like ciders or beers, you'll find something here to fit their tastebuds. They carry a lot of their own beer selections - but they also carry a TON of guest pours as well. It leads to a really large range of beer offerings. The beer selection board above the bar is overwhelming, honestly. (And more on that issue later) Some unique offerings but lots of standard-expected offerings too. CONS: -Dayton Beer Company didn't offer any flight options. For a brewery that has like 30+ beers on tap, not having any easy way to do flights was really surprising. They had the taster/small glasses, but they didn't have any way to easily carry them back to your table. Just each little individual glass on its own. It was surprising. (Other reviewers are clearly showing flights, so I'm guessing the employee that day didn't feel like pouring them despite asking them twice.) -Speaking of surprising, the other big surprise was that Dayton Beer Company doesn't have any table-friendly listings of their beers. A staff member told me the *only* listing of the beers is the giant beer listing above the bar. If Dayton Beer Company was a large square, this might work out okay, but DBC actually has a lot of satellite rooms with offer zero view of the bar. If DBC kept up an online database somewhere (Untappd, etc.), this might work too, but they don't. The only place to figure out what beer you want to drink is by standing awkwardly in front of the giant board while a bar staff member waits nearby for your order. In addition to feeling awkward doing that, it also means every person from your party needs to go up to the board to figure out what they want to drink - or you need to take a picture with your cell phone to look at at the table - which isn't a great workaround when there are lots of really-neat ways Dayton Beer Company could solve this. -In addition, this lack of any obvious beer listing makes it harder for beer nerds (like myself) to discuss the beers. We brought our four mini beers back to the table and spent five minutes trying to figure out which was which - with zero information about the actual beer to discuss or socialize around like we really love doing. The Untappd app was a savior for this, but a brewery really should have this info for me. Craft brewing is about the social aspect just as much as just having the alcoholic liquid. read more

Great addition to downtown Dayton. They have an extensive beer collection, and I enjoyed most of the beers that I sampled. They even have some pretty eccentric choices, such as the "Mint Julep Beer". Okay, I made my way to Dayton Beer Company after a wedding. The beer selection was great and the pizza hit the spot after a full day of drinking and electric sliding with aunts. They did close at midnight and the staff had run out of fucks to give at 11:50 when I wanted one last beer. No biggie, though, the Dayton kids knew plenty of other places to keep it lit, all but guaranteeing a crunchy hangover lasting long after the LaQuinta continental breakfast shut down all the way through the WPAFB experience. read more

I wish they had live bands more often because their back patio is really nice and a great hangout spot.
