When the check came, the item was ten dollars more that the menu/ When called to the attention of the bartender she said the new menus were yet printed. the waitress did not tell us of this charge change and it was like bait and switch. the food was ok but this is not acceptable. I think I was not valued and nothing was done to change the charge to the menu price. read more

Today , March 7, 2025 , my husband and I took my elderly mother for a treat to Cross Country Bar for a fish fry. My mother is very elderly , hard of hearing and eats slow. We ordered appetizer, meal , cocktail and pizza to take home for the following day. This was supposed to be spending quality time with my mother and taking her for an outing. There were 4 customers when we arrived. The bartender was very friendly joked with my mother and gave a little info about the food. Received appetizer and it was very good. Got main meal and we were probably only 10 min into meal the bartender started making comments pressuring us to leave. We were not overextending our stay and there were only 4 other customers. He came over and asked if my mother was ready to go and did we need a to go box. I said no, we are working on it. Apparently my mother eats to slow because then he came and said, Let me know when you're ready because your pizza is ready to go. Then from behind the bar he said ...do you need to go box's. My husband had finished his meal but both my mother and I were about halfway through. The the bartender came back to remind us the pizza was ready to go. He "joked" that if we stayed another twenty minutes that there would be an extra charge for taking up the table. MIND YOU....STILL only 4 customers. We got a to go box for my elderly mother and got out of there. We paid our bill and left a generous tip because the food was great, the bartender was personable and friendly except for comments indicating that we needed to leave, like he was expecting every table to be full any minute. I felt bad that my elderly mother didn't get to enjoy fully an afternoon of getting to go out to eat and having some family conversation. On reflection, I regret leaving such a generous tip after reviewing the passive aggressive behavior in my mind when I got home. There were a couple more "jokes" he made pressuring us to leave that I did not include. I am upset with myself now for not speaking up. We didn't linger at the table, if I had to guess, I think maybe an hour before the "jokes" were to much and we told my mother she would have to eat at home. read more

If you're hungry this is a good place to stop as the portions are very large. This place has a lot going for it. Nice log cabin building. Interesting bar, roomy seating, lots of regular customers. Drink prices are good. We ordered the spicy burger and gyro. The burger is 1/3 pound so come hungry. We opted for potato salad instead of fries. Both burger and salad were good. The gyro came w/fries and also was good. Service was OK. I'm dinging it because we weren't told there were specials. To me, this is part of a servers job and I shouldn't have to ask. We found out that there were specials by over-hearing another waitress relaying them to her customers after we had received our food. Stopped up here on my way to eagle River. OK beer selection nice place inside. The staff was friendly and inviting. Sadly the food was just bad. I had the fried cheese curds, which is a WI staple. They were average. Then I had a burger because that seemed to be there thing. It was a frozen cisco patty or the like. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. The place was clean, bright, and large! It looked almost brand new. Many TVs around the place, large log-type chairs and bar stools, and some games as well. I had a California Burger, with bacon and avocado, and it was very good. We stopped here on a Wednesday night. A bit early and starting to get busy. This place was amazing! Our waitress, Grace, was so efficient! We were taken care of right away. We ordered drinks and a pizza. All delicious. The bartender knew how to make an excellent Old Fashioned! Pizza was fantastic as well. We were In town staying at a cabin and really has a great time! Not being bias in this review but we have been here over past couple of years. This place is one of my favorite places to come to to eat and drink. I put up pictures of what we had but the food in general is amazing I usually always get then broasted chicken AMAZING is all I can say Bloody Mary's here are off the chain Decor is very north woods rustic but modern at the same time If your in the north woods area make sure you stop in here. I am only rating what I ordered , which is the French onion soup. It was not good at all. It was actually pretty gross to me because of the bread they use. They use croutons which become a big pile of mush under the cheese. The texture is just aweful and not something I could not put it down. I would suggest using a firmer bread or roll for the bread instead of croutons. As it is their soup is not good. read more

On our way home from a fun filled weekend we wanted FOOOOD so we decided to try Cross Country Grille outside of Rheinlander. I have always passed by this place and wanted to try it so...we did and it was good. The place is huge and very clean and our service was outstanding. They eve switched one of the many TV in the place to the NASCAR race for me to enjoy. So my wife, child and I got the cheese curds first and they were very good with a very cute little beer bottler serving tray. So they claim to be famous for their burgers so....thats what we went for! I opted for the SPICY Burger topped with fried Jalapenos, a spicy mayonnaise sauce and pepper jack cheese. It was quite good however overcooked as I wanted it medium. But a good burger and not lacking flavor at all due to all the spicy additions to it. My wife got the Oliver Burger loaded with a TON of olive cream cheese and she liked hers as well. Were they the best burgers? Nope but they were good and a higher rating would have been given if mine was cooked right. So, nice place, very clean, and decent food. I would love to go there to watch a sporting event sometime. read more

We were in vacation at a spot that didn't have ESPN, so we headed here to watch the bowl games on New Year's Day. The place is big and kind of out in the middle of nowhere, but it was packed with cars and snowmobiles. They were nice enough to change the channel on one of the TVs for us, and to set up an extra card table so we had somewhere to sit. We were very impressed with the friendly service! There was a big menu with lots of options, including salads (which can be hard to find up north). The nachos were just ok, but I liked my salad and the sweet potato fries were great. Food came out slowly, but given how crowded the restaurant was (and the bowl games to distract us), this didn't bother us at all. There was also a good beer list for the area. Cross Country is a clean, modern restaurant with good food and great service. Make sure to arrive early on busy sports days! read more

Great food! Cheese curds and French onion soup were delicious. Hubby had the shrimp and I had the Kentucky Bourbon Prime Rib Wrap. They also did not disappoint. Place was busy, we sat at the bar and were told up front that dinner would be an hour from order to table. Appetizers came out pretty quickly. We liked that they were honest and upfront and the food was worth the wait. The servers were all fantastic and many jumped in to to help where needed. We definitely recommend! read more

We loved this place! We went there three times in the week we were here on vacation. Very reasonable prices, nice variety on the menu. The cheese curds were excellent, the cod sandwich was really good, and the prime rib sandwich was amazing! Absolutely the best prime rib sandwich I've ever had! Ordered the French onion burger which was on menu as a burger with 2 cheeses, FRIED onions, a small cup of onion soup for dipping, and served on sour dough. Therefore, was expecting onions would be French fried (like Durkee's). They were just pan fried. I also was expecting the burger on a sour dough roll but it was just on a couple of slices of bread. It was good but all in all just a cheeseburger on bread with grilled onions. French fries were excellent. Strawberry daiquiri much too sweet. Old fashioned was pretty good. read more
