As someone who's gone to this gym from time to time, there are a few pros & cons that I will list…read moreout in detail to help you better understand as to whether or not this gym is for you! Pros: The gym has a LARGE amount of amenities. There are two basketball courts (which are also used for pickleball), an indoor lap pool with hot tubs, an outdoor swimming area with slides (at an extra charge). There are classes, a ton of different machines for both cardio and lifting, and a really clean and upscale atmosphere. People tend to mind their own business and the staff have on average been helpful, at least in my experience. There is also a kids "daycare" if that's what you call it. A lot of parents will use this so they can have time to work out and actually work. There's a little area right next to the cafe that has tables and outlets. I see a lot of people with MacBooks doing work. They probably work remotely. Who knows. Cons: The price point for this gym is definitely the highest of them all coming in at $220.00 a month per person. IF you are married or you can prove cohabitation, you can add an additional person on your account for around $100 a month. This gym definitely has a crowd that is very gymcentric. This isn't a bad thing. But some people who are looking for a more chill or less intimidating atmosphere may think twice. I was one of these people until I decided to just not care. But that's easier said than done. The gym can be exceptionally crowded at peak hours. So if you plan on going daily I'd do my very best to avoid late afternoons on weekdays and nights on weekends. I was hoping the bathroom situation would be a little better but, there seems to be 2 bathrooms for ladies and men of course (from what I've seen). And with the amount of people there sometimes, it can be a little bit hectic. The locker room is fine and the showers are just average. At the price point of $220.00 I was expecting some futuristic pod shower than also does your taxes but, we all can't have what we want. The outside swimming area is an additional monthly charge, by the way. Conclusion: So take it or leave it. The price point is HIGH, but there are a lot more amenities and options for machines than any other gym out there. Is that justified? I don't really know. So three stars. Until they have a robot that does my taxes, then it might go to 4.

I found starfit club and after reading their reviews I decided to give it a try. I was a little intimidated since I've never done a class like this before but I still wanted to at least give it a try. As soon as I walked in I was greeted at the door and I immediately noticed how clean it smelled- the place was spotless (still pretty impressed by it). The gym did a great job with having us clean up after ourselves and the trainer let me know they fully clean in between each class as well. The class itself was unlike any other class I've been to, from stat to finish I definitely got a great workout in. There were clearly people that were regulars and instead of being intimated I was motivated- phew! No one even noticed that I was new until after class when I mentioned it being my first class. My class trainer was Clarissa, she was so welcoming and made sure to help guide me through what I needed to do, without making it noticeable that I was a complete newbie. Thanks Clarissa and Star Fitclub, I can't wait to be back!

A friend referred us to this gym last year and we've been coming ever since. The gym is clean and the instructors are fantastic; motivating for all levels. Star fit is like a "better" version of an Orange Theory - session of weights, cardio (mix up of rowers, assault bikes, and treadmills). They mix up each session very well, so the class always seems to go by really quick! It's def my go to when I'm in NJ!

I've been coming to the Ship Bottom Lyceum location for years while on vacation in Long Beach…read moreIsland,, and it basically does the job if you just need a straightforward workout. At ~$60 for a week pass, it provides enough of the basics to stay on track, even if the equipment is noticeably dated. However, a couple of issues this week highlighted how much this location is treated as low priority compared to their mainland gym. First, basic equipment and customer service were lacking. When I asked the front desk attendant for an exercise mat, I was told flatly that they didn't have any at this location. When I pressed further about why a gym wouldn't have something as fundamental as a mat, he mentioned I might find one upstairs, explaining that he usually works at the mainland spot where they keep mats and bands. That location is great, but for a seasonal gym open three months a year specifically catering to LBI vacationers paying premium short-term rates, simple fitness basics shouldn't be a treasure hunt. (For anyone looking, I did eventually find a couple of mats tucked away in the corners of the women's workout room). Second, the complete lack of bike parking is becoming a real issue. Vacationers on the island rely heavily on bikes to get around, yet there isn't a single bike rack on the property despite having plenty of space for one. Yesterday, I had to lock my bike in front of the neighboring accountant's office. A staff member there politely asked me not to lock it there because a bike had just fallen into a client's car the day before. Meanwhile, there were about eight unlocked bikes leaning against the building wall, and a couple laying down, partially blocking the shared sidewalk. Adding a simple bike rack seems like a no-brainer for a reasonable business serving an island town. Bottom line: It has most of the heavy iron and basic cardio equipment you need for a quick vacation workout, but management really needs to invest in a bike rack and ensure basic floor equipment and helpful customer service aren't limited to the mainland facility.

I was also told that my monthly dues would resume in July. Instead, I have received multiple emails claiming my account is past due and adding late fees. When I asked the employee who signed me up to provide a copy of the agreement or documentation confirming what I was promised, she refused. For over a month, I have repeatedly called and have been told to speak with Shanon. I have left at least five emails and five voicemail messages, yet I have never received a response. When I log into the member portal, I see a balance due with no explanation. I have requested callbacks through the portal and still have not received any response. To make matters worse, every time I go to the pool, I am stopped and told my account has been flagged and that I need to contact the front desk. It is embarrassing and has made both my daughter and me feel unwelcome. We simply wanted to make sure our account was paid correctly and avoid late fees, yet we have been treated as though we are the problem. I eventually had to cancel the debit card I had on file after it was charged for dues that I had already paid in advance. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend not keeping a debit card on file. This entire situation has felt incredibly frustrating and, at times, like a scam. The accounting department has failed to resolve a straightforward issue, and management has been completely unresponsive. I do want to say that I love the pool. The staff there has always been friendly, welcoming, and professional, and the facility is clean. My daughter loves spending time there, and we plan to continue using the pool each summer--but only without a payment card on file because I no longer trust the billing process. Unfortunately, I will not continue my gym membership because I have lost confidence in the accounting department's ability to bill members accurately or resolve problems when they occur. My hope is that someone in leadership reads this, contacts me, explains why this has been handled so poorly, removes the incorrect charges and account flag, and finally resolves my account.
