They start taking money out of your account like crazy! I canceled over a month ago and they have taken a large amount of money since. Just yesterday they took money out from my account!! I canceled back in June!!! They don't solve anything. The owner is usually not there and the guys who work there can't do anything for you.

It just happens that this gym is walking distance from my house because any further and I know that I just wouldn't go. So... CrossFit it is! :) I still drive there... I decided to join the 6-week challenge and (as I write this review), I think it was the best decision I have made for myself in a long, long time. It's not so scary. The program is fantastic as long as you don't fight the Universe and follow your nutrition plan AND do the workouts. It's pretty darn simple: Do what you're supposed to do and have a good attitude. Trust the process... The best things about this gym are the members, coaches and classes. I can definitely say that this has been the most supportive environment I have ever experienced when it comes to going to the gym. Everyone is genuinely supportive and welcoming from day one. Of course it's because they know the hell you're going through while doing the WODs [Workout Of The Day] and struggling through the skills they teach here as a newbie or someone who hasn't worked out consistently (like me) in a good damn while. Perhaps misery loves company? Perhaps, but I think we all enjoy the endorphins...afterwards. I have never seen any judgement here and there are all kinds of people with many shapes, sizes and physical backgrounds that come to this box that will cheer you on to finish that last rep. Really pretty cool and motivating. In addition, they offer plenty of class times and a full gym area complete with machines, weights and all sorts of fun toys to get your butt back into shape. It does get better... Overall, if you're on the fence about joining this CrossFit gym - I would recommend trying the 6-Week Challenge whenever they offer it to see what it's all about and commit to that. The morning classes are early but worth it if you want a circuit training workout that's less demanding. The evening classes are physically demanding. I'm 28 and fairly fit and find it difficult to keep up, and sometimes I need that. Hey also have Pilates and spin by appointment. And they have gym use, but I've not tried those classes or options. Overall I think I got a good deal on Groupon for the bootcamp. The facility is clean, except not all gym goers sanitize after themselves and well that's out of their control so if you're concerned with germs be sure to sanitize before and after your use of weights and machines. The machines may not be the newest out there but they work and there's nothing wrong with them but if you're looking for the gym with tons of machines and cardio options then this may not be for you. But if you want your butt kicked by some bootcamp classes join ASAP.

I started with her after having lost about 90 pounds on my own. During this year I have lost the last 50 pounds and she has changed my body in amazing ways. She has shaped my body and taught me so much about fitness. I will continue seeing her 3-times a week because it is so important to me to stay in shape and I continue to see great results. However, that Amy has made a gym is such an excellent caliber that I'm breaking my rule. This is literally the first review I have ever written on google for none food or coffee related establishment. I've been to several great gyms in my "fitness journey" but there really is something extraordinary about what Amy has put together here. First off, Amy is ridiculously exceptional and the technical pieces of Crossfit. The level that she can break a movement down, and coach a person through it is top-tier. She, and all of the coaches, also do a remarkable job of making sure everyone gets attention. One of the ways she does this is by limiting class sizes to a manageable number of members. You will NEVER make it through a class without a coach coming by to evaluate your form and give you pointers on how you can improve. It's really this level of personal attention and attention to excellence that sets Salt de Terre apart from other gyms. On top of the day-to-day WODs, Amy also puts a lot of effort into hosting clinics for specific movements and areas of the body. I've been to a Jump-Rope-Clinic and a few mobility clinics, and I honestly don't really get the chance to go to many. Amy, again, takes it to the next level though. After any clinic you can expect to see pieces of the clinic incorporated into the warm ups of the next classes. She doesn't just present the information to her members, she incorporates it into her style, into the coaching mentality of the gym. And all this was before COVID. To say I've been blown away my Salt de Terre's response to this would be an understatement. First Amy reduced class sized and had people disinfecting stuff. Then when the gym had to close, she didn't miss a beat. She loaned out gym equipment to the members and were almost immediately hosting online Zoom workouts multiple times a day. Then she added yoga classes (hosted by some of the gym members that teach yoga), and then a mental health clinic, and then weekend get together events (baking, make-up, murder mystery, etc). While I can't imaged the effort this took, you would think she had already prepared for it. That's how seamless it felt. I honestly can't recommend Salt de Terre, Amy, and the staff there enough. If you like Crossfit style workouts (no AC, lots of movement, and no treadmills) that you will absolutely love Salt de Terre. And as much as I hope you don't steal my gym spot, I really do hope you check it out. Let's be real, there are thousands of gyms in the city and most of them have the same equipment. You don't go to a gym because of the equipment, you go because of the coaching (at least you should). And Amy is one of the best coaches I have ever had, and she's one of the best coaches you can ever have too.

First time in I just wanted to get info & see what the details were to be a member. Finally bit the bullet and signed up for a monthly membership which comes with one complimentary training session per month. Booked my first training session for an early morning (on my birthday no less) because if I was going to train, I needed to force my butt out of bed. Telling myself I would do it after a long day at work wasn't going to happen. Met David when I showed up for my session and went through the initial 'getting to know you' stage. He gave me a nice total body workout to assess my strengths & abilities. While I know he wasn't pushing me to my max limit, my leg muscles would definitely beg to differ. Still got up the next day and drug myself in for a short run on the treadmill. Shannon - the owner - who I had signed up with earlier that week, stopped by to say hello. She was excited to see me back in and was checking in on how everything went the day before. I must have had a 'good' time because I continue to go back in to meet David at least once a week. Some trainers have higher education and years of experience while others have no degree in the related field. Other trainers have the education to back up their title but very little experience in the field. This is why it is so important to by pass the owner when selecting your trainer. Find one who is right for your short and long term goals, someone with a degree in the field, someone who has at least 3-5 years of practical experience and someone you relate to on a personal level. The biggest mistake a client can make is looking at their prospective trainers Instagram and noticing a move that is beyond most peoples realm and whilst enjoying their six pack abs and visioning yourself in them, take a step back and ask yourself, is this really what I need? Do your research fully and put your trainer in your own hands. Also, be careful how much money you put on your account because if your trainer leaves and you can't find one that is comparable, Focus will keep your money or force you to train with another trainer despite your reservations. My past experience with focus leaves me with Cracker Jack box training methods for most trainers. Leaving some clients bored and complacent. Training is movement art and science combined. Make sure your trainer has a pleather of tools in their tool box. Have witnessed most of the trainers in the habitat with very little creativity, energy and motivation.
