It has been three months since my friend dragged me to the workout regimen she swears by. It took…read moreme a while to give it a try because I was sure CrossFit was not for me. All of those intense videos of people lifting truly scared me away. To my surprise, it was nothing like I expected. It was not ridiculously grueling... it was actually pretty fun! There are many things that I love about Driller CrossFit and that convinced me to become part of the family. I'll share some of them! The first one is the welcoming environment. Everyone is genuinely friendly and have a "come as you are" attitude. No one cares what you look like or if you're wearing the latest lululemon trends. There is a free week trial too, so you can try it before making any kind of commitment! The second one is Victor, the owner/trainer, he is awesome! He makes it a point to understand where you are coming from, where you are at, and where you want to be health-wise. He then personalizes the daily workouts to meet your needs and abilities and avoid injuries. I love that I don't have to worry about my workouts, whether I'm doing an exercise right or not...Victor takes care of all of that. He does a great job explaining everything and breaking things down when necessary. The amount of knowledge he has about fitness, nutrition, health and CrossFit is vast. He enjoys nerding out on the latest research and sharing it with us. There is definitely careful thought and research behind his workouts. The third one is the supportive environment. There is definitely a "we're in this together" attitude. I love that there's no competitiveness (except for some of the guys but I think that's good for them). People cheer you on when you really need it. Some go as far as joining you during your last (and hardest) reps even when they're already done with theirs. It's those kind of moments that build true comradery. Finally, the celebration of progress! Keeping track of your rep/weight records really helps see progress through time. It's crazy to see how far you've come in a short amount of time. I had not worked out in over a year before coming to Driller CrossFit. I needed something I would actually stick to and Driller CrossFit has been it for me. Workouts are at 5am, 6am, 915am, 5pm and 6pm. Come try it, you won't be disappointed!

From the owner: We know you're scared to try strength training, so we try to make it as pleasurable as we can. We…read moreguide beginners and seasoned athletes through every movement. I've slowly lost 10lbs with diet change and coming to their yoga classes and barbell class. Plus, cardio and some light weight training. I love all the morning yoga instructors; Trish, Jeana & Kristi. They are all so nice and so kind, I feel so welcomed and at peace when I go to yoga. Even during heated yoga where most everyone is super fit, I feel like I belong and that I am not being judged. I love the gym and feeling so welcomed has made me love going. It's my favorite time of the day, the few days a week that I have been going. It's so nice to feel like I can finally make the change for my health because the facilities are clean, the staff are extremely nice & the classes are so helpful when you can't afford the extra cost of personal training.

To begin, if you don't know, this gym's members lean toward the affluent. You can see the evidence…read moreexamining the parked cars, the spectrum of services typically offered at a country club, and the what I call "the new shoe parade" (adults over 40 wearing the most trendy athletic shoes). Glaring discrepancies: - the men's bathroom stalls don't stay locked efficiently and have a peek-a-poo gap you can use both eyes to see through. They'll spend money on fake plants, yet won't fix what's needed (this applies to other issues as well) - so far this summer, the outside "hot tub" is either disgusting, jets don't work, flooded with kids under 12 (there's a rule against that), or it's closed off - when it's busy, you'd swear no one in the greater Tulsa area is going to any other gym at that moment - it's succumb to the "Premium" disease. Some things you can't do unless you pay more - and a general membership is already pricey - if you want to play pickleball - good luck. They change the schedule of when the courts are available for whatever types of players. If it's free play, you might end up waiting awhile before you play again. There's only 3 courts. That's all for now. I'm sure there's other issues. Those are just from my lens. Two stars simply because it has so many services. Think "Costco" of gyms. It's got a dystopian feel and it's up to you how much kool aid you want to drink.
