Hands down the best Crossfit gym in Northern New Jersey. Okay Okay - every Crossfit gym brags about how great they are, how close all the members become and so forth. From the outside people that don't know or haven't tried usually think it's like a Colt......Well, they might be right a little.....it comes with the territory - but in a good way. Seriously. If working out, teamwork, healthy living and friendly competition are a colt - sigh me up. Wait, I already am. Steve and Tina have owned the gym together for almost 5 years! They started the gym before they got married. This is the their new location in Park Ridge as they needed a bigger space after about 2 years (a little flooding helped the push) in Westwood, but anyway - this location is perfect. It's not too big and it's not too small. Some boxes can be overwhelmingly large (while amazing to an experienced x-fitter - can be a bit intimidating for new comers). On to the coaches: In addition to Steve and Tina as the head coaches and owners (who are simply amazing people and coaches), each and every one of the other coaches are truly the best coaches and people you could possibly know. You will never. Ever. Find another box with these coaches and members. This isn't Crossfit Southie or Brooklyn - there is every age, race, color and size at this gym. I joined Crossfit Ignite a little over a year ago. I was grossly out of shape and was in poor health. I know I had to get into shape, but I was still unmotivated. I decided to try Crossfit, knowing I was probably going to give up anyway, I might as well start at the top. I was very apprehensive and didn't know what to expect ( A bunch of jacked up cultists making me do hard labor while blaring Techno music and screaming generic motivational slogans). What I found was even more surprising. I found a great group of regular guys and girls who encouraged me and helped me accoplish fitness goals I never thought possible. The coaches are the greatest, they work with everyone no matter their ability, equally helping you become stronger, faster and more flexable all while making sure that you perform properly to avoid injury. They will scale a work out to your ability without any hesitation. I've lost 45 lbs and have never been in better shape.As far as the cult part is concerned, We do enjoy going out and having some laughs, and we will support our fellow teamates, because it truely is a team helping you accomplish your goals.Hope to see you there. read more

This is a great Crossfit box with an emphasis on personal coaching. It is not fancy, it is not a "drink the Crossfit kool aid" culture, but rather a caring community that tries to help every member improve. I am not a CrossFitter per se, but rather a competitive rower who uses CrossFit as a tool in my training. The coaches give me a lot a flexibility to customize the training to meet my needs as a sport-specific athlete, and I never feel any pressure to conform to some of the more extreme aspects of the CrossFit culture. I travel a lot for business and have visited other CrossFit boxes, some of which run more like a factory with huge facilities and coaches who just call out the WODs but don't get that involved. Every WOD at Ignite delivers personal mechanics coaching, often with photo or video footage, which is rare. The music is great, the people are an interesting cross-section with no posers. I tried it on a whim a couple of years ago and never thought I'd still be there. Even though the location is less convenient for me than a couple of other boxes, it's worth the drive to get the personalized experience at CrossFit Ignite. read more

crossfit ignite....where do i begin? I have been a member of crossfit ignite for over two years now. After playing college sports, I knew I wanted to take my fitness training to a new level. I had only heard rumors about crossfit - flipping tires, climbing ropes, burpees. but the sport of crossfit is so much more than that. Ignite embraced me as part of a family, something I had only experienced during team sports. the people here, both coaches and fellow members, push you beyond what you ever imagined you were capable of. I started working out at CFI four years ago in preparation for the US military. Coach Steve & Tina were there for me every step of the way and welcomed me back home when I returned. There's something magical about this place. Everyone is accepted at CFI--any shape, any size, any level or non-level... The workouts are pretty intense, and the community support plus the encouraging coaching style will help you push yourself beyond anything you've ever expected. The workouts are offered at all levels--so don't ever be discouraged to try it out. This place changes you from the inside out. I am 55 years old and tried all types of gyms and never could stay consistant. I have been at Crossfit Ignite for 4 years now and I am in the best shape of my life. You have a choice of a few Crossfit gyms in the area, but you will not find one that makes you feel more wanted and friendly competition then Ignite.
