This Planet Fitness turned out to be a solid stop with plenty of room to park and an easy walk…read moreinside. The club itself is bright, clean and well laid out, with lots of treadmills, ellipticals and weight machines so I was not ever waiting around for a piece of equipment. The Black Card area was well maintained with working massage chairs and tanning for those who do that. I'm not a tanner, but some love it. The locker room and shower area was clean with good water pressure and enough hot. I'd love more changing space but it was good. Being tucked into a somewhat busy shopping center next to the Ace Hardware made it convenient to get in a workout while doing some errands and the business of the parking lot was good for security. Getting in and out was easy with multiple entrances and exits, but these roads really aren't that busy. Overall, a dependable PF and an easy choice for this part of Charlotte. The Mt Holly Huntersville location has people experiencing homelessness in the area. The morning…read morestaff at this Planet Fitness allows the unhoused to be inside the facility. They recline on the equipment, use the restrooms, and stuff their pockets full of candies that are at the front desk. They do this right in front of staff who look away and pretend not to see them. I don't want to be the bad guy, but this causes discomfort and safety concerns for customers. This also prevents customers from using the equipment that the unhoused are "hanging out" on. I do not recommend this Planet Fitness location for customers who prefer morning workouts.

Confession-this review is strictly for there once a month lady safe class that focuses on self…read moredefense for women. The class is free for women to attend and only $10 for men who's like to attend. This gym offers all different kinds of classes for boxing, aikido, Muay Thai, and tai chi. The professors/senseis team up The first or second Saturday of the month to teach a self-defense class for women. The class is usually from 1 PM to 3 PM and consist of maneuvers and strikes. They are very informative and very patient when teaching. They don't mind going over the techniques over and over again until you are sure you get it right. You definitely feel like you were in a safe space with people who truly care about you, trying to teach you. They check in with the students to make sure that nobody is uncomfortable especially for those who have suffered an attack before. I can't say enough good things about this particular class. The only reason I have not signed up for one of their aikido classes is because the schedule doesn't work for me. You can follow them on Facebook to learn about their lady safe events, give it a shot and that will help you determine if you would like to continue coming to this gym for other classes.

I started Muay Thai a couple of months ago and the training is impeccable. Learning from the ground up I have learned so much in two months. As much as I have always wanted to learn martial arts, I have always had a love for weight lifting and this place is perfect for that as well with a free weight room and many powerlifting amenities!! The best of both worlds, a great place to sweat, work hard on yourself, and learn about the arts. This place feels super intimate and you start feeling welcomed and comfortable after a few weeks. It's like a 2nd home for me :)

This fitness studio is just unlike any other in the best way! Everything from the owner to the vibe…read moreto what you walk away with is just remarkable! The first class I ever took was actually with the owner and not only is she a great instructor, but she is an absolute gem! She is so sweet and understanding and is trying to get to know everyone who steps foot into her studio, which I very much admire as that can be difficult to stay personable and connected with members as you grow. They have several different class types and instructors. I've taken 7 classes and experienced 5 of the instructors. They are all great in their own way. Caitlin (the owner) has a light and presence about her that just makes her classes enjoyable in every way. Jenni's restore keeps you moving, but is so relaxing you don't even realize class is over when it is and you truly do feel restored. If you want to get down to business and feel the burn, Rebecca is your girl for Drip & Flow! She keeps the workouts timed and on schedule so you know what to expect. The yoga flow is soothing in between the strength work, but man every class has kicked my butt (in a good way)! Becky's midday Flow Burn is a great boost of endorphins to keep you motivated going into the second part of the day. Usually a smaller group of folks in this class, but the intimate feel allows her to genuinely focus and help the class as needed. She's a positive light with great energy you don't want to miss. Julia's pound class is fire!! I may be partial to it since I used to take it for years, but it's great to see it back at a local place! I don't know any other kind of class that makes you smile as much as that one, especially if you get off beat (lol)... but it takes a great instructor having fun to have fun yourself and Julia does that! Still several more instructors to try out, but loving the vibes so far! They have an unlimited membership with two pricing structures... One for long-term commitment and one for month by month. They come with first access to classes (2 weeks out) and a couple guest passes to hand out on a monthly basis. There are options to buy class packs, the more classes purchased, the cheaper each class is per session. There is also a four class pack per month available as well... It's not considered a "membership" as there are no guest passes or early access to booking classes (available only a week out), but is at a great pricing per class - 3 month commitment with that. If you're needing to adjust or freeze membership or classes for whatever reason, just talk to Caitlin. She's flexible in working with each individual as needed as everyone's situation may be different, but overall that's the run down of membership/class packs -- visit the website for pricing specifics. If the rest of my review doesn't push you to already be heading into the studio for your first class... The fact that (1) you never have to worry about what to bring (and can just show up) , (2) you get an affirmation card (which always seems to hit home and is spot on) at the beginning of every class and (3) your fitness experience (regardless of the class) ends with a cool down, cool (lavender) towel and a delicious piece of chocolate -- should be extra motivators to get you there!

He even guided me towards learning how to use the YCLT+ app on my phone so I could check in without having to use the handheld membership pass. This gym is clean and well ventilated and I love it. I usually go in the morning, so not a lot of people there. I've been to many YMCA in Charlotte and this is one of my favorites. In the morning, it's an older crowd. Which is great for me I'm not looking for a show stopping crowd. I go to the gym to work out and for my health not for a runway show so if that's what you're looking for this is the YMCA for you. This YMCA also provides workout classes as well that you can choose from that's included with your membership. There's also a swimming pool and a locker room where you can shower after each workout. There's a basketball court and also childcare area, but I'm not sure how that works. There is also lots of parking.

I was in Charlotte on a rainy day (postponed that day from being a spectator at the PGA Men's Golf…read moreChampionship). Researched YMCA's close to our hotel and went to the McCrorey YMCA in Charlotte. Used my reciprocity with Silver Sneakers membership from Jamestown, with use of the facility for FREE. The indoor pool at the McCrorey Branch was fantastic, a nice respite on a very rainy day. The lifeguard and entire staff was friendly, helpful, and professional. Everything was clean, from the front lobby, locker room, to the pool. I highly recommend the McCrorey YMCA for everyone.
