I have often referred to myself and a lazy person. Mostly because like most of us, sleep is awesome, food is delightful and working out is...well....WORK. After having kids, and that darn metabolism slowing, my body had become a skinny fat...I knew there was time for a change. I tried every crash diet on the planet, I worked out at home, spent hundreds of dollars with a trainer, went to boot camps in parks, yet never found a true passion or love for what I was doing. So time and time again, I failed. And remained unhappy and unhealthy. I remember watching the Crossfit games on tv once, & ironically was on a elliptical at a gym. I wanted to be THAT badass!!!! .....but never did anything about it. (LAZY and no confidence) It wasnt until coach Dan (the owner of CFO) reached out to me to join his box. Something as a simple, invite to try the foundations class and try it out. I started with CFO August 24th, just after my 29th birthday, and from that first WOD I was hooked. I wake up every single day excited for what we are completing today. Coach has given me the confidence and ability to push my limits. In the few short weeks I've been doing Crossfit, I have pushed myself to limits I didn't even know I had. And I'm better for it. The community is tremendous, you feel a sense of comradery, and support that you would never get in a traditional gym, but each workout is set up to push YOU to compete with yourself and no one else. I no longer feel that I'm a lazy person. I've stepped up my fitness, and my eating habits, those around me are not only noticing, but following suit! I brought my husband in for a trial class one month after I started and he signed up on the spot! We are a Crossfit obsession family, in and out of the box and I am grateful everyday that I found this group of people with their talent and drive for health!!! I fall into the category of people who should list the body parts that ARE functional, so I was always apprehensive about crossfit. After meeting with the coaches, I felt confident that they would be able to scale any workout to meet my physical limitations. I have been there for about 6 months and can attest that they have always accommodated and have regularly guided me away from moving up in weight before my form would permit. The coaching staff is friendly, knowledgeable and trustworthy. These things are very important as God only gives you one body. My wife and kids also do crossfit @ CFO and enjoy it thoroughly. One of my sons just completed his first Crossfit competition and seeing the support from the coaches was amazing. He is 12 years old in the middle of the Phoenix convention center with hundreds of people watching and he didn't feel nervous due to the preparation he received. I am a 42 year old mom of 3, and I am in the best shape of my life thanks to CrossFit Obsession. Throughout my life I have done many different forms of exercise (boot camps, personal training, Zumba, weightlifting, and lots of running!) but none of it compares to the results that I get from CrossFit. As other reviewers have said, CrossFit is addicting and you will actually WANT to come workout. I know--crazy, right? All you have to do is show up and the CrossFit coach will walk you through the workout of the day, and will train you through the movements. I was on a 10 year sabbatical from all things exercise when I was introduced to CrossFit. I didn't care about fitness and certainly didn't care about what fuel I put into my body. After I started working out here on a dare from Coach Dan, I found something I was missing for 10 years. The real me. He made me care about me. Not just the exercise part, but my body as a whole and everything I put into it. This box (what we call our gym) is made up of amazing athletes, coaches, kids and teens, husbands and wives, friends, and most importantly family. The focus on form and function has kept me injury free and at 35 years old, I am now in the best shape of my whole life because of this place. I have had a few typical gym memberships in my day which amounted to nothing. I would show up, maybe run a little and lift some weights. No accountability, no pressure, no positivity. Just me and my mindset. Not at at my new home, Crossfit Obsession. You ARE held accountable, you HAVE friends pushing you to your fullest, you HAVE friendly competition, you HAVE great coaches that help you, push you, teach you and protect you from injury. After denying my muffin top for as long as I could, it was time to do something about it. I'm not a big fan of the typical gym and I'm definitely not self motivated enough to do at home workouts. A friend suggested Crossfit and had high praises for Coach Dan. I was a little intimidated, but Dan put me at ease and did a great job training me on the basics. He's so patient and encouraging. I appreciate his desire to help us reach our goals in a consistent, safe way. The other members were very welcoming and we all cheer each other on to the end of each workout. Your family and you dont even know it yet!!! This might be the best community I have been a part of, yeah you work your tails off but you do it with some of the nicest, caring people on the planet and that makes it so much easier. This box is a true joy to be at. The coaches take extra time to focus on you when help is needed, They are here to build you up not break you down. When I came to CrossFit obsession I was just 8 weeks post partum and so nervous about coming into the gym as out of shape as I was. The word CrossFit can be intimidating but boy was it the best decision I have ever made! The community is so welcoming and supportive to everyone who walks into the gym! The coaches are incredible and make sure you have good form so you don't get hurt and not only that they make the difficult workouts fun! This was my first CrossFit gym I joined! I was scared and worried! They have made me feel at home from DAY 1. Not only the coaches are welcoming but all the members! They let you go at your own pace but challenge you when needed! I love the fact that they have an amazing childcare program that allows me as a mom to work out in the morning! And this is by far the cleanest gym I have ever seen!!!! They truly take pride in proving a clean, safe and fun environment! I've only been doing crossfit (or anything remotely active) for 4 weeks or so and all of the coaches and my fellow gym goers are so supportive! They make sure that everyone is doing the movements right to reduce the chance of injury (I'm a clutz. What can I say?). This has been my first experience with a crossfit gym, but not my only experience with a gym. Everytime I've gone to a gym I've not know what to do, that's why I started crossfit. This place is awesome. I was nervous that I would feel unwelcome or that I wouldn't be able to do anything because of my physical fitness. CFO is so inviting and friendly. As a prior Level 1 CrossFit coach I was very picky when choosing my next Crossfit gym when the one I belonged to and coached at closed. The Crossfit gym I loved closed. I tried a new box and it wasn't what I was looking for. Within 5 minutes I knew Obsession was my new home. This is fun place to come workout here. I have been doing CrossFit for 4 years and started to come here for over 3 months and find it a great environment to come to. The coaches are excellent and care about the safety of the athletes. What I like is the coaches are to help with technique and will help with appropriate scaling.
