Maximize your strength training with tangible, trackable data. Coaches that put in the time and thought to the fitness and health of a demographic that is not one size fits all. The perfect Ph balanced water, whatever the heck that means. Weaknesses: You must get out of bed. You'll be sore. It never gets easier. Costs more than the Y. Getting used to the new, tastier water. Overall, I really like it. I see the results and recommend working out or doing some other physical activity at least one other time a week. Eat right. Treat your brain well. They had many racks & locations to bench press -- no waiting on the sole bench press. They had top notch Sorinex equipment throughout. A wide variety of barbells to meet any specific needs -- including one Strongman log, DBs up to 120#, about all the machines you could need, and lots of turf for conditioning drills. If you need it, they likely have it. Personnel were kind and welcoming & put up with my occasional #OldManNoise while lifting. Facility was clean, easy to get to, & lots of nearby parking.

This is totally turning into my favorite Y!…read more As you guys know, I'm pretty committed to Les Mills Body Pump, which they offer at most of the YMCAs in the Greater Saint Louis area, but I love the big bright rooms with high ceilings at this location. If you've never tried body pump before but want to, Michael B is the best instructor when it come to new folks. Go to any of his classes and learn everything you need to in order to get strong and stay safe. This location also has super new machines as it recently opened last year, so everything feels super fresh. Also, I love that they have a gender neutral restroom/ locker room. I will say this location isn't super family oriented like I've noticed other locations are, but that seems more fitting for downtown as the crowd seems more transient and younger. I've also had generally great experiences with the folks who work at the front desk. Very inclusive, accommodating, and friendly. It's my spot! The only downside is parking downtown can be a drag.

True definition of hurts SO good!…read more I've always been an avid fan of this sport but never imagined taking any classes. I was introduced to this place from a friend two years ago and have been coming ever since. When I first came, I was able to use a 7-day pass and take a few classes. I was nervous because I hate not being good at anything (especially when it comes to sports) but also because I didn't know what to expect. The first class I ever took was Mimi's class at 10am. I was able to meet with her before class to go over the basics. It made me feel comfortable, especially since I didn't know what I was doing! For that class, It's an hourlong and consists of a warm up, 8-rounds three minutes each of boxing combos, and then 14 minutes of abs and core. While she has since left, Dominic has taken over and I believe still keeps the same format. Over the last two years, I've tried out several classes and instructors, but have grown to love the 45 min class on Saturday's taught by Drea. She's engaging with the class, thorough with her instructions, has challenging workouts and the BEST music! She wasn't here yesterday and the class was taught by Jaffet instead. One thing I appreciate about this place, aside from the bomb music they play, is the consistency. No matter who's teaching, I'll always get in a good workout, learn new combos/ moves I'm unfamiliar with and leave feeling like I just conquered the world! Yesterday was no different and I was really happy with the class overall. If you're looking for a change in your workouts, a rush of endorphins, and feeling accomplished, look no further than SLBC! They have classes every day of the week and have something for everyone no matter what skill level. If you're not quite ready to commit to a membership, you can always pay per class as well! I love Leslie's 60 min class on Sunday at noon ("VIOLENCE!!") and the Wednesday evening Box+Flow (i do not do enough stretching, so im grateful yoga is on offer). With the 4-pack, I have to choose one or the other each week, but I'd like to go to both. Sometimes I have to miss a class I reserved, and usually I just eat the credit. The staff are nice. It's a great workout. If you are thinking of picking it up, I think you can't really go wrong with any of the offerings here!
