Update: Dr. Gearhart has retired, but every vet at Adobe who has cared for my dog has been amazing. Particularly Dr. Giles. The entire office is amazing, from reception to vet techs and nurses to veterinarians. I am almost hesitant to write this because I don't want them to get too busy for me, but I love this place and they deserve all of their amazing reviews. Dr. Gearhart and all of his staff (associate DVMs, vet techs, receptionists) are wonderful, caring, warm, accommodating, communicative, thorough, and efficient. They all truly seem to love their jobs. My pup, who I adopted as a stray, has been in their wonderful hands for a spay surgery, teeth cleaning under general anesthesia, annual routine care, and some minor but urgent issues. Dr. Gearhart goes above and beyond to call me during my pups appointments to update and explain things to me. I hope I'll never need to bring her in for a major issue, but I would absolutely choose Adobe first if something came up. They always find a way to make time for her in a reasonable amount of time, whether as a walk-in, or via appointment. I love how they handled (and continue to handle) the pandemic. Their parking lot has ample space to park and wait for your turn. They are very cost conscious and good about asking your permission before providing services or running tests. They are also very responsive and have always quickly emailed my dog's vaccine records upon request (for matters like boarding). Sometimes I find services in El Paso can be a bit of a SNAFU with respect to businesses doing exactly what they say they'll do, and doing it well- and that's why my relationship with Adobe has been so gratifying. My neighbor and several of my friends have switched to Adobe Animal Hospital, and they are all very happy also. I'd recommend them to anyone living in, or passing through, El Paso County. read more

***PLEASE BE CAREFUL, THEY MAKE MEDICATION ERRORS!!! About 3 weeks ago Adobe Animal Hospital made a big mistake, (THEY EVEN ADMITTED THEY MADE A MISTAKE! NOT ME) When I got home & took a closer look at the receipt & notice they overcharge me $24.50 for tags & injected meds into my dog's it didn't even need. (And yes my dog is doing ok thank god) I did end up returning the tags via mail but after speaking to Dr. Jim Gearhart today I found out they never received them & now he is saying it is "my mistake" for returning tags via mail) I've been unsuccessful in getting a refund from them & after weeks of trying to negotiate a solution, I decided to do chargeback today for the amount of $24.50 & definitely will not be returning back to this place again, never! My next step will be to notify Consumer Affairs. (This incident occurred on 07-28-2020) UPDATE: Form submitted to Consumer Affairs. UPDATE: 09-10-2020 I'm still waiting for the chargeback I did but it hasn't been posted yet. If he denies it I will go to next step. I had a appointment this morning at 9:30 for a 9:45 new patient vet appt with my dog Jack to be examined and receive a few shots. I'm sure this visit would have given Clinic a happy sum of money but instead, we walked out. This clinic doesn't rate five stars, four stars, not even one star...not with the gate keepers at the front desk anyway. There are OTHER Vet Clinics in town that can serve our needs. I was rudely greeted & ignored until I put my mask on. Jack is a large dog and I'm a aging woman so I asked if Jack could go into a room as the receptionist ask that I fill out a new patient form. I had already filled out the form completely online on their app & there was no room for Jack to go to. The receptionist couldn't find my completed new patient form on the app nor even knew I had a appt! WHY BOTHER WITH THE APP THEN Jack freed himself from his leash, now running around. He was nervous, had numerous times almost knocked myself & a customer behind me down. I was at my wits end needless to say & walked out. That's the worst customer service I have ever received. The only customer service received was when Jack ran from his leash, the other office clerk actually got up asking me for his leash. I didn't even realize Jack was gone. I recently got two new puppies and already had a senior dog. Even though this vet clinic is on the other side of town, this is the place I always go to now. The staff are so kind and loving toward my pets. My senior dog is going to have a teeth cleaning and operation this coming Tuesday and once that's all done with I'll write a review about how it went. My poor Chihuahua dog was hit and after calling around local clinics, this was the only one that would take me right away. It took us about 45 minutes to be seen but the vet and vet technician were very accommodating and helpful. We thought we were going to need to put her down but vet advised we take her home and give her a day or two to see if she would get better. After a few days my dog was better, nowadays she's back to normal. The bill was a bit expensive but it was worth it because the service was efficient. Great experience. read more

Our kitty was hospitalized yesterday 8/26/20 at her new vet and she was diagnosed w/Pancreatitis. They shaved her paw to administer an IV to give her fluids & meds. She was dehydrated, lethargic, had no appetite, she hadn't eaten in 4 days, She wasn't using her cat pan, she had excessive tears ( looked like she was crying all the time ) Her purrrrr was muffled & sounded strange. She was just so sick! Anyone who is owned by an animal knows the sickening worry when they're sick and don't feel well. So the team at Adobe Animal Hospital did an AMAZING job w/our girl!!! They answered all our questions and were very attentive to us. We didn't have to wait more than 30 minutes after we arrived at the vet & they registered us - when they took her in & started working on her. We loved their professionalism. Everything ran smoothly and I give them 5 STARS! They put our worries at ease and assured us she was in good hands. I am so disappointed with my visit. I use to work as a veterinary technician so I of course know what I'm doing/talking about when I bring my animals to the vet office. First of all when I made my appointment I told the receptionist I needed a consultation for my cat to get his teeth removed (due to having stomatitis) and a rabies vaccine. She gives me a 3:00 apt and lets me know that when I come I can set up his surgery. No problems at this point. When I arrived I got there 15 mins before my apt time... I waited and hr and a half to get seen with an apt. I walked outside due to the dogs in the clinic scaring my cat (if anyone knows how easily stressed out cats can easily hyperventilate and can lead to death) so finally around 4:30 they call me back. The nurse was nice, asked all the questions, she asked which vaccines I needed and I said JUST RABIES. Y'all I have worked in multiple clinics and never heard of a clinic not giving a regular rabies vaccine to a cat. They just told me it had another vaccine with it (doesn't even say which one it was on the invoice) she didn't tell me it was going to cost me $65 for a rabies vaccine. She told me they don't give just rabies to cats... y'all cats and dogs rabies vaccine are the SAME. So if you're giving it to dogs then you can give it to my cat. Then the doctor comes in and pulls my cat out of the carrier by his scruff. He was already super nervous. I could have easily gotten him out of it and made his experience so much better. They LOVE to scruff animals here without need. THEN the vet told me that she's the only dr who does that surgery and she will be gone by the time he needs it done... so why am I here? For a consultation. This makes no sense at this point. They also just wanted to put a bandaid on his condition knowing he inevitably needs them extracted, trying to just put him on steroids... that's a good way to just get money out of me without fixing the cause. Y'all I spent $85 on his spiked rabies vaccine since they apparently don't do regular rabies vaccines and a vaccination certificate?!!! I have never heard of you having to pay for the registration/certificate being separate from the vaccine. That was $16. A normal rabies vaccine costs the $16. So unprofessional. I am completely disgusted by this clinic. read more

We took our dog here back in April as we were new to El Paso and this is the first vet we went to because it was close to home. They put our dog on antibiotics and said they believe he would need at least 5 teeth pulled. They never called or followed up, and had initially told us it may be June before he's scheduled for his surgery. I called today and found out they had cancelled our dog's surgery without even notifying us. Horrible vet! No sense of urgency, compassion, or care for their clients or their pets. If you love your pets like family, DO NOT BRING THEM HERE! These people should be ashamed of themselves and should not be in business. When we have had concerns after hours we have always been able to speak with the Doctor. When we needed to board our puppies...although not glamorous, the care was exceptional!!! I and my wife Lisa have brought our furry family members into Adobe Animal Hospital for the better part of the last twenty years. The degree of professionalism, knowledge, and compassion by "all" members of Adobes staff is unparalleled. They have shared in all of our joy and in our sadness and have gone to extreme lengths to make sure that our furry family is taken care of at the highest degrees. I and my wife Lisa do not even have the words to give proper credit to Dr. Gearhart, his wife, Russ, Shandra, Crystal, Josh, et cetera, et cetera. They have treated us as not just mere clients...but as part of the Adobe Animal Hospital family, and we see this with everyone that comes in there! I have heard people make comments that they are "to expensive" or "rude" and I just would like to say...you evidently have not gone to the same place I have for the past nineteen years! Case in point...recently I lost my best friend and shadow Grace, a nine year old red point Siamese in May of 2018. She went into renal distress in early 2017 and due to Dr. Gearhart, Dr. Meyers, Mandy, Russ, and Shandra...Grace was given over another year on this Earth with us. For the past year until she passed I have had to give her three different medications a day and bring her in for SubQ fluids one to two times a week. For anyone that cares to do even a little bit of research Adobes charges for the fluids are a full 1/3rd less than what others charge...by and large this applies to the greater bulk of their services in comparison with other vets. On a personal note...Thank you Dr. Gearhart and staff! I could go into greater detail here about the quality care and personal attention we have been given there...but some things are simply to much detail and I would end up writing a novel. We've been bringing our baby here for the better part of the last 3 years. In the beginning, when we first saw Dr. Gearhart, he was professional, listened to our concerns, it was an overall great experience. Since that first visit, we went thru a sleuth of different DVMs, and apparently so did the clinic. The less staff they have, the less they seem to bring in really qualified or caring vets. For the last 2 years, during the annual exam, the vet barely touched our dog and missed doing tests that are annually necessary, even though we asked for them at check in. This year, they skimmed through the "physical" for our dog. I believe the vet was in there for less than 5 minutes. Sure, it's a Saturday morning, and they take walk-ins. I dont know about anyone else, but when I go to a place without an appointment, I expect to wait for a little bit and it doesnt bother me. The vet and the tech accompanying her seemed to be in a hurry. The tech seemed bored and irritated by our presence there and she said" whatever you want" when I asked to have a heartworm test done. I need to ask.. how do they give our heartwork preventative meds WITHOUT checking for heartworm? Unfortunately, given the last 3 or 4 visits there, we are inclined to believe that Dr. Gearharts practice is no longer a choice for a vet for us. We will be looking somewhere else. read more

Went there with my Neo who had a swollen ear. I was told he had a aural hematoma. What I liked was they said let's try this first if not go from there. My Neo had surgery there and it's so nice to call a vets office and know that they will help. I even had Dr Gearhart call to let me know that Neo made it through surgery alright. Prices went up during COVID-19 pandemic!! You have lost a patient..not like you care anyways!

We now live in CA, but this was always our vet when we lived in ELP. We have had positive experiences in the past and still bring our dogs to Adobe to get their teeth cleaned. However, today was not a pleasant one. Our 6lb dog busted a nail and a big part of the quick was exposed. While waiting for the doc, the vet tech examined her & was insistent that it was the nail, not the quick. My husband repeatedly told her it was the quick, but she clearly didn't listen. She SAID that the doc would look at it but she DID the opposite. She took our dog to trim her nails and cut the quick!! My husband could hear her crying in pain. My husband was upset. He explained to the doc that the tech had cut it, but at that point there was nothing to be done except putting antibiotic ointment on it. Perhaps the doc would have done the same thing as the vet. However, as the pet owner, we should have been able to make that decision AFTER the veterinarian examined her. It was very unprofessional of the staff to assume they knew what's best. We pay for the vet to examine & diagnose our dogs, NOT the tech. read more

Took my Saint Bernard puppy after she collapsed in my arms. The vet saw us right away. I was explained all my options and given several choices for treatment. I felt that they did everything they could for my puppy. Unfortunately, my puppy passed away. A staff member called to check on my puppy and I explained that she passed. A couple of days later I received a beautiful card expressing condolences signed by the entire staff. I can't stress how much that card meant to my family and I. The loss of our puppy was heart breaking and it was nice of someone to notice. I highly recommend this place to pet owners. read more

I absolutely loved my visit!!!!! I visited Adobe with my 11 year old cat for the first time yesterday and I was completely IMPRESSED! I had a horrific experience with a different animal care clinic over the weekend and my experience at Adobe was the complete opposite. The staff is warm, genuine, and compassionate. The atmosphere is inviting and comfortable. My cat is critically ill but unfortunately bit a technician at the previous clinic so animal control became involved and required a home quarantine and two rabies checks. I decided to change clinics to Adobe because I was unhappy with the treatment I and my cat received at the last clinic. They were so understanding and empathetic. I was greeted with this immediately upon walking in. The doctor, the receptionist, the technician, every employee I encountered treated me and my cat with respect and compassion. I am so grateful to have found this place and I know that my pets are finally in good hands! Thank you so much Adobe! Additionally, I received a phone call from them this morning just to check on my cat! I'm extremely happy with the service I was offered. read more

After a traumatic 3-day journey in the car during our move from AL to TX, our kitty picked up a nasty cat-cold. I called Adobe and not knowing me at all, they provided helpful insight over the phone- not the "bring her in now no matter the symptoms" type advice I expected, but actual practical helpful info. Once we determined this illness wasnt going to magically disappear as we had hoped, Adobe not only accepted her as a walk-in, but also didnt make me feel like a terrible cat mom for not getting her in sooner. Was in and out with meds and peace of mind in 45 minutes. Kitty is well on her way to recovery and should be eating me out of house and home and getting into trouble again in no time. read more

Dr. Gearhart is professional and addresses your concerns. I won't deny that. However, you are running the risk of running tests on your pet that you will have to pay for just to tell you that your pet is severely ill and it is not promised that they can treat your pet. They provide you with the results and refer you to a different animal care center who can treat your pet BUT you may have to pay for testing that was already performed. This happened to me. I went and I paid $524 dollars for the testing performed on my dog. I was referred to an emergency care center who would have to run the same tests on my dog that I already paid for at Adobe just to tell me the same thing so I can commence with the surgical procedure. Not only is this unfortunate but very inconvenient and stressful. I had no idea that my dog would be diagnosed with a severe infection for testing that would cost me as high as it did and not be able to get her treated right then and there. From now on I will only take my dogs to the emergency care to be on the safe side as these are facilities who have the capability to treat your pet right then and there. I would only take my dog to the Adobe animal hospital for vaccinations or some sort of annual checkup. If you feel that your dog is sick, do not bring them here. They can only tell you what is wrong with your pet but may not be able to treat your pet the same day. read more

I took my husky yesterday for certain vaccines. Things went okay with the visit. But what disappointed me was seeing an injured senior dog unknowingly destined to be euthinized. I asked what was wrong? The lady explained it was a rescue but the Dr. couldn't do anything and besides the dog was old. It broke my heart because a while before the little dog was rubbing its face on the grass. I asked myself why couldn't the Dr just remove its leg and leave it a tripod? Why also destroy the innocent dog for being old? Disabled or senior doesn't warrant killing the animal. read more

First of all, let me say this clinic is one of the most expensive clinics in this area. The owner of this clinic is clearly avaricious and does not have any interest in truly helping your pet. In the entire time that we took our pet, not a single time did he offer to do anything that would require any effort outside of his comfort zone. He was glad to always take our money of course. He is limited in his knowledge of complex cases, but won't bother to make a phone call to other doctors/specialists about what can be done to help your pet. Just so you know, I have 3 old English sheepdogs. I have taken them to Dr. G. since we got them, 1 for almost 7 years & the other 2 for almost 5. I thank God that their there for me. It's like visiting friends when we have to go for any reason. Everyone makes you feel like they really care & they really do. They always go out of their way to make my girls feel comfortable as well as me. I love the staff. Thought my oldest dog Shania was dying on me, she really is. One of the staff members knew we had to do a biopsy on her liver & brought in their dogs in, in-case we needed blood transfusions & we did, Can't thank them enough for thinking of me to do that. Dr. Meyer has done above and beyond the job as just a vet. Shania is in end stage of cirrhosis with large amounts of copper findings. Dr. Meyer consulted with a specialist & she has made it a month longer than the specialist had given us. Granted we are giving her a lot of medication to extend her life & as long as she is not in pain we will continue to strive for quality of life. Poor Dr. Meyer has to go in & drain the fluid off her abdomen, a lot. They still give her the best quality of care even thou we all know she is dying. I'll be crying & everyone there will give you a hug trying to help you knowing there is nothing anyone can really do. Only God knows when her time is up but it's kinda nice to know their there. I contacted Dr. Stephanie Meyers about my Dogs needs. I also inquired about the Rattlesnake Vaccination and if it applied to Cats as well. Since I live in the Desert, protecting my Animals is an obligation I take seriously. Dr. Meyers didn't have the answer, but took the time to contact the Company that makes this Vaccination. When she called me back, I was able to get my information. Yes, but with some risks that apply to Felines in particular. Careful observation after the injection is required to observe if a Cyst develops so that preventions can be taken. The point is, that this Clinic took the time to find my answers when others I called simply said no. Was my Bill higher than first thought, yes, but I chose to have additional procedures done and there was a cost involved with each one. All within reason. I will definitely be bringing my Cat in for the Vaccinations as well, each of my Animals serve a vital purpose on my Land, and giving them the best care has become part of my purpose as well. read more
