I had a wonderful experience here at Crossroads. I brought my kitty here who was not feeling well. He was very lethargic and not eating. We were very concerned and this is very unlike him. I have never had to bring an animal to a vet and found Crossroads. Overall I was very pleased with the service provided. They were able to fit in my kitty the same day. The assistant (I wish I could remember her name) was so sweet and kind. They did take my kitty to the back to examine him and administer care, which I didn't care for. I would have preferred to see what was happening. They advised me they were going to cut his nails and take his temperature. After a few minutes they came back and said he was very hot. They went back again and kept examining him, looking for a source of infection that could be causing his fever. Dr. Lerner came in periodically to update me and discuss treatment options. They have my baby an antibiotic shot and something to bring down his fever. The next morning the assistant called me to check on him, too, which was so sweet and such great service! Thankfully my kitty was feeling much better within a couple of days, and I am very thankful to Crossroads for the care and attention they provided. On a side note, they also advised that they participate in the free Spay/Neuter/vaccinate program in Miami Dade county. This was one of the worst veterinary experiences I have had. I've taken my dog Winnie to plenty of vets over the years trying to find the right fit. I never write reviews but I feel pretty strongly that this place should be avoided, there are so many better options out there. When we moved close by I decided to try this out. First off, they take your dog into the back to do everything which typically I don't prefer but I know this is common. Before the tech brought her in, the doctor came into the room complaining about how Winnie doesn't like her nails cut. I was surprised because they told me they were taking her for vitals and never mentioned nails. I would have easily told them not to bother that we do it at home. I have never experienced a place that doesn't ask permission to cut the dog's nails first or at least ask the parents if she's ok with that considering most dogs aren't. When I told the doctor for them not to cut her nails he made a snarky comment. Since then Dr. Lerner gave off the impression that we were incompetent and he spoke down to us the entire time. He did not speak in full coherent sentences and It felt as if he was all over the place. It did not inspire confidence one bit. He made snarky remarks the entire time and overall gave an impression of an older vet who thinks he knows best and shouldn't be questioned. They never told us they cut her nails at all and I was under the impression that they had tried but couldn't because Winnie was too squirmy. When we got home we took her outside to play and go in the pool and now her two back nails are bleeding badly. I was so furious because this easily could have been avoided if they just asked us before. Not only did they cut her nails without permission they cut them too short and now she's crying when she walks. I have a feeling they cut them short and put quick stop and didn't want to tell us. When we got home and she ran around they probably opened back up and that's when we noticed. I strongly suggest that if you want a veterinarian who would treat your dog as their own and who would make you feel that they are cared for and open to answering questions do not come here. read more

I can't say enough about this office and Dr. Méndez. We came to them about six months ago after our schnauzer's vet passed away unexpectedly. Our little one came with diabetes, lymphoma and losing her sight. She wasn't looking great. In a very short time and an adjustment to her regimen, she's looking better than she has been in years. If you want a great veterinarian that truly cares for your pet this is the place. Dr Gordon was phenomenal in her care of my dog Lola. My dog had an obstruction due to having eaten over 25 hair ties over an unknown amount of time. She had been vomiting and not eating. The X-ray showed the obstruction and emergency surgery was needed. Dr Gordon performed the surgery Friday evening and thankfully the surgery was a success. During Lola's 4 day stay at crossroads Dr Gordon kept me updated via daily text sometimes even multiple times a day. After 4 days in the office's care Lola was very comfortable around the staff and even walked around looking to be pet while I was receiving discharge instructions. You can tell my dog had been well cared for during her stay. Can't say enough about Crossroads except thank u for saving our Lola. read more

I really like this place. The staff is friendly and informative and you can count on them to give your puppy a great service. They answer all your questions nicely and give recommendations for meds and toys and products and all sorts of things. My puppy is comfortable and loves the people and he just get so happy with their treats and love and care. I love the vet there. She is so nice and sweet and really seems to care about the pet and you and wants you to have a great healthy dog. I have had such a hard time finding a veterinarian that I trust, can afford and that my pup is happy and comfortable with. Crossroads Animal Hospital was the answer to all my prayers! Dr. Gordon Méndez is the absolute sweetest, along with everyone else I encountered on staff from the first woman I spoke on the phone with to the man who brought out my dog after his appointment. You can tell they truly love your pets and they took such good care of my crazy little Boston, Gizmo. He's really hyper and playful and the gentleman who initially helped us at our car and returned him to me when I picked him up was so good with him. He came back fresh as a daisy and with a couple of new meds, and I could tell he was happy as a clam; you can tell when your dog is scared or has been in fear, but I didn't see an ounce of that in Gizmo when I picked him up - just his regular playful self. I also really appreciated that they had the courtesy to call me to keep me updated on what treatment they thought he'd need and why, any medications he was recommended to take, informed me of the price upfront, asked me if I was okay with it, etc. I was just very impressed by everyone there who helped me today and I had an excellent experience. Brought in a stray from my neighborhood the only correct thing this vet did was allow me rescue prices for the cat. Long story short they gave the cat cortisone, rabies shot and flea shot all at once without even performing a blood test. Took the cat in on Tuesday, the cat passed in my home on Thursday. The doctor killed this cat. Something that was a good deed turned into a nightmare to us. The next time I took my dog to this vet to get a nail trim we were treated rudely by their staff and with no condolences. NEVER going to this vet again HE DOES NOT KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING MEDICALLY. He also admitted to me when I called him for an explanation that a dog had recently passed away from him administering the same 3 drugs. Please Dr. Lerner, do more research so that you stop murdering innocent animals. read more

However I called recently to confirm an appointment and they couldn't find me in their schedule even thought I had made the appointment two weeks in advance. I used to bring my dog here b/c my in-laws' dog was a patient of Dr. Lerner's until she passed away @ the age of 15. My in-laws allege her death was the cause of Dr. L's misdiagnosis. Sadly, the vet at the emergency clinic where she died agreed, yikes :-/ We kept taking our pup here b/c we never had a bad experience. Until one day - my dog's nail split open (like an open hood on a car) on a Saturday @ 6p when this place was closed. I took him to my friend's vet who was open. They clipped the nail w/o a problem and sent us home with a wrapped up paw and antibiotics. A few weeks later, my dog's nail split again. I called Dr. L's office to ask for an appointment and they told me to hurry since they were going to have to "twilight" him to clip the nail. I let them know he wasn't put under @ the other place and they said that it would hurt and they wouldn't do it any other way. It took all I had to keep myself from telling the woman to go twilight herself before I hung up. I have an English bulldog, a breed known for being prone to respiratory issues and difficult intubations, and these a-holes wanted to twilight my dog for a simple nail clipping? Here's a secret. Crossroads is #1 in giving back to the animals! Yes. Five stars. Crossroads doctors and staff have skill, compassion and love for all animals. Plus, they are fairly priced. Don't ever say they are in business just for the money! Crossroads does more for lost or abandoned animals than any other clinic I know. Rescue groups know. Rescuers know. There they get shelter, isolation, de-worming, vaccinations, comfort, kindness and excellent vet care. All this at special rock bottom rescue rates which I doubt even covers their costs. When stable these lost souls are released to rescuers for fostering or adopting. Since I live in Kendall's Horse Country more animals are abandoned in our streets almost every week-end. What are people thinking? Within hours or by next day we too often find that dog or cat dead in the middle of the street. It's heartbreaking. Every neighbor has maxed out with dogs and cats. I have adopted 7 rescues. We can only do so much. But we can bring them to Crossroads Animal Hospital. Our ranch has fostered and found homes for 5 rescues coming through Crossroads Two days ago I brought in one senior sick dog abandoned by someone near our home. She was thin, recently had puppies, filled with ticks, dehydrated and had diarrhea. She is in isolation at Crossroads now, examined, pest free, comfortable, receiving IV medication and lots of love from the entire staff. When she's ready we'll find a forever home for her. When we take our precious pets to Crossroads we're not only getting the best care, we're helping them to help to those less fortunate. Oh yes. I can't say enough about the team at Crossroads. I have been rescuing and fostering dogs for years and, as such, have been to animal hospitals across the state. Crossroads really stood out as not only being very generous with their time in working with rescues, but also giving exceptional, EXCEPTIONAL medical care. They recently removed a 5-lb. tumor from an abandoned dog, surgically implanted pins into the crushed legs of a small dumped dog, and continue to care for a dog whose back was completely severed open to the muscle from Lord-knows-what kind of abuse. The way they handle these dogs is really heartwarming. When you rescue/foster you, invest so much into these dogs and bond which each and every one.
