I have been going to Sunset Animal clinic for about 10, 11 years and unfortunately I will not be a customer any longer. I adopted Xavier from there and used to take Oliver as well they were kittens. When I started going there and kept going was because Dr Khuly was awesome plus there were other older vets that were great as well plus Connie was bookkeeping (I think) at the time. Everything changes and I continued to go there for nail trims and any emergency that may pop up if it happened on a day the office was open. I called yesterday on July 21 to make an appointment for nail trims and was informed that since the boys hadn't had a full physical exam in years that the next time I would schedule an appointment for nail trimming that I would have to give them each a physical. Now mind you I expressed to the young lady on the phone which btw it's not her fault at all and I understand this, but I was very upset at feeling forced to have to give my days physicals. I explained to her that about couple of months ago I happened to have sprints about 1,500 at town and country hospital due to emergency with both Oliver needed teeth cleaning cause he had stopped eating and then a week Xavier had been throwing up along with diarrhea and was sick for over a week. This happened over the weekend when your office was not open. These are indoor cats always have been.. I am 61 years old currently unemployed and having financial difficulties I try to give my cats the best care they I can. I really liked the way your vet techs clipped their nails it's a shame that everything changes. read more

Came in with an injured cat but was turned away. I understand that I hadn't been there before and was a walk-in but if you are in the business of helping animals and an injured one comes in suddenly, I would expect them to be more able and willing to accommodate service. I have a miniature zoo of animals and my regular vet is not conveniently located so I thought I'd try them since they have such positive reviews. I was even thinking maybe I can switch vets if I like them but the immediate dismissal without even asking how serious the cat's injuries are was highly disappointing. Even if they did not have a vet available to see my cat, the least they could do was act like they care. I did not get the sense that animal well-being is on the top of their priority list so I will stick with my regular vet for regular care and Knowles for true emergencies since both of those have staff that actually seem to care about the animals. If you are thinking about making your pet a new patient at Sunset Animal Clinic, make sure you have an appointment because otherwise they could not care less. read more

ZERO STARS FOR CARE. FIVE STARS FOR NEGLIGENCE My cat Saki has been a patient of Sunset Animal Clinic since October 2019. This review is regarding recent negligent lack of care of my cat Saki by Dr. Alyssa Gasset during two separate recent visits. I will preface by stating my cat Saki is a ferrel rescue cat and does require light sedation to be treated as she is temperamental when she is fearful or in pain. November 25, 2025/Tuesday Saki was seen Dr. Gasset for an inured left leg. I gave consent to sedate her in order to facilitate a thorough examination and x-rays and I thought labs would be performed. I was informed that Saki had been throughly examined and that there were no visible signs of broken bones or tears. Diagnosis was a "muscular" shoulder injury and Saki was injected with an anti-inflammatory. NO labs were performed to screen for infection or as routine baseline of health. Two day later, Saki was unable to walk without falling over, stopped eating and barely used the litter box. She confined herself to her bed and was clearly not well and in pain. I called Sunset Animal Clinic, front desk was helpful and encouraged me to bring Saki in following Monday morning. December 1, 2025/Monday I had previously confirmed my 11 am follow up appointment with Dr. Gasset twice, Saki's wellbeing was visibly demising daily. Her breathing was heavy, her heart was racing, she was not eating. Eighteen minutes prior to my appointment, as I am putting Saki and her carrier in my car, I receive a call from one of the front desk staff at Sunset Animal Clinic. As per Dr. Gasset's instructions, front desk staff was persuading me NOT to bring Saki in for her follow up. Front desk suggested I stay home with Saki and continue to monitor her as her health spiraled downward. I insisted that I was not going to cancel my appointment and would come in as scheduled. Abhorrent exhibit of compassion by Dr. Gasset. Saki was seen by Dr. Gasset who immediately commented on the noticeable leg swelling yet made no effort to examine why Saki was getting worse each day. I asked her to please sedate Saki and check her visibly swollen leg. She displayed not regard for her wellbeing and did not suggest routine blood work to rule out illness or infections. What Dr. Gasset did offer was a flippant idea to inject Saki with an arthritic drug. Recent scans show Saki does not have arthritis. I kept insisting on other options since she was in so much pain. Dr. Gasset's response was " We are limited when it comes to cats". After my constant insistence, she suggested injecting with an antibiotic in case Sake had a stomach ailment which was preventing her from eating. Dr. Gasset displayed zero regard for my cats health. She intentionally chose to not suggest blood labs and rule out any infection, chronic issues. She refused to sedate Saki when I kindly asked her to do so in order to assess the additional swelling. Saki was left zipped up in her carrier without a physical exam of her swollen leg. I was sent home with pretty much a "good luck let's watch her" sentiment. Upon our arrival home, Saki was lethargic and not well. Four hours later I walked into a room full of blood. Saki bled out all over her bed, sheets, floor due to a burst abscess. An abscess that formed as a result of negligent care and improper diagnosis from Sunset Animal Clinic's Dr. Gasset during not one but two visits with her. Saki was rushed to Town & Country Animal Clinic, total saving grace. Thank you Dr. Jennifer Seco for not allowing us to leave without compassionately diagnosing the cause of Saki's diminished health. Dr. Seco ran labs and carefully examined Saki's swollen leg. She found Saki had an infected bite wound which had caused a painful abscess. Dr. Seco cleaned her wound and did not release Saki until she was stable. I am happy to report that Saki is on the mend thanks to Dr. Seco. Dr. Alyssa Gasset lack of treatment prolonged Saki's breeding infection and suffering. Look elsewhere for care. read more

Visited the facility about boarding & very disappointed with the staff. She did not introduce herself so I don't know her name; unfortunately not much compassion or concern during the visit. She asked about shots & bordetella update, among other questions & discouraged us that they can't take our precious Jelly because they are full. Really, why didn't she say that in the first place. I used to take my three dogs there years ago until one of them ran away and came back preggo. After she gave birth I had to get something at their office and the extremely rude girl said I "had to bring her in and anyway I also had to bring in the puppies" so I said I'm only picking up something may I speak to dr Khuly? Brought my 15-year dog in because she had symptoms of urinary tract infection. New vet, dr gasset, first time meeting me and my dog, bypasses discussion of the urinary tract infection and says my dog should be euthanized because she is arthritc, blind and deaf. She asks me, "What does she do for fun?" Switched vets, UTI cleared, and my 15-years young dog is back to her old self of enjoying walks, fancy dinners with family, and an occasional croissant or two. read more

I'm disappointed the last few times I have made an appointment requesting for Dr.Khuly they have either canceled or did not tell me until I arrived that another doctor will be seeing me.... With that being said, Dr. Duenas was kind and professional along with the staff... the prices are on the higher end compared to other clinics in the area. They charge for follow ups and rechecks, which I have experienced other clinics not doing. What bothers me the most is that my request to see Dr.Khuly felt as if it was ignored, and not once, but enough times to realize that it was time to look at other clinics.. read more

I have 2 dogs that are such sweethearts, until you touch their nails. My gosh, do they turn into little demons. But this staff was outstanding in laying them on their sides and getting the job done safely for the team and my dogs. The vet, Dr. Stephanie (sp?), was so sweet and attentive to my thoughts. Cost is typical of vets offices; not great, but not a rip off. The waiting area was large and let me separate from other clients. I LOVED the separate areas for dogs and cats. I have to say this animal clinic is incredible ! From the front desk to the vet tech and Dr.Kat. I have two frenchies who are so well taken care of by sunset animal clinic. It' makes me very happy to know my dogs go somewhere where they are treated so kindly and genuinely treated. I recently had to put down my presa about 2 months ago and I wouldn't have wanted it done any other way. Tasha, Alexa, Ronnie and Dr. Kat made the experience so much easier and peaceful. They even gave my Uno food from their own individual lunches to ensure he had the yummiest last meal. This clinic is heaven sent I wouldn't want to take my doggies anywhere else. If I could give this place half a star I would.... Read this before you take your adorable pets to save yourself the money grab and rudeness. Ok, here is what happened. My dog Milly is 11. She has been through A LOT. To make a long story short, she was my brothers dog, his best friend. Two years ago there was a house fire in my younger brothers home, after battling the blaze firefighters pulled both my brother and Milly out. My brother did not make it, but Milly did. She suffered third degree burns and smoke inhalation but after two surgeries and countless days in a Burn Rehab center she is back to normal. The doctors in Fredericksburg, VA, Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Jupiter, Florida saved her life and they are angels and heroes! Fast forward to today..Milly has a lump on her ear so I called all of her doctors(again she has a bunch) and they said it was most likely an ear hemotoma and she would need to get it drained and bandaged. So since Milly has not needed to go to the vet since the fire and my wife and I moved to Miami we had to find a new vet nearby and we found this place. I made and appointment and took her in. They said yes it's an ear hemotoma and they then gave me a detailed invoice. The invoice was for $250 and it said they would drain it, wrap it, put her in a cone and give her meds as well as take home meds. I looked it over, called Millys doctors and they agreed that was the procedure so I said yes and green lit the procedure. Again, let me repeat I said yes and was good with paying $250 to nip this at bud and fix my baby. Well when she was done her ear was drained but it was not wrapped, so I asked the doctor why didn't they wrap her ear? And why was my invoice $175 now instead of the $250 I approved. Don't get me wrong I like to save money but not at the expense of re-injuring Milly. The doctor said she didn't need it and she was fine. So I paid the $175 and went on our day. Two days later, guess what, because her ear was not wrapped the ear hemotoma came back just like before, so I called and took her back. I go to pick her up and this time they drained it and wrapped it and put her in a cone. So literally they exact same thing they did 3 days prior with the exception of wrapping her ear. And then they handed me another $106 bill. Hold up. WHAT?!?!?!?!? So I told the doctor, "so because you didn't do the procedure correctly the first time and didn't apply the bandage on her I had to bring her back, in the middle of a global pandemic, waste my time, waste your time, AND now I have to pay you an extra $106?!?!? " Let me pause and be clear here. The first visit I paid $175 vs the proposed $250. However I approved the $250 and was happy to pay that amount of it meant her being healed and this being done with. But instead they charged me less only to have her suffer again so that I could bring her back and they could charge me more. MONEY GRAB.... And at the expense of the poor dog?!? Ridiculous. Now if the doctor would've said ok, you're right it should've been done correctly the first time and you should've paid $250 not $175 then OK! No problem! That's what I green lit the first go around anyways! But to do it again and then Overcharge it, makes it a clear Money Grab at the expense of the dogs well being. Again it's only a $31 if you add it all together, it's not a big deal money wise but it's a HUGE deal in principle. The poor dog had to go through this twice now. Now the doctor explained "well that's our procedure" and I told her that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MILLY's DOCTORS said that not applying the bandage the first time was not correct but she said that's how they do it there. Finally here is the worst part. After I thoroughly explained my position she went to talk to her manager and then she comes outside and says "Ok I talked to my manager, you don't have to pay that anymore but go find yourself another vet" Speechless.... So first a money grab. Then make poor Milly go through this TWICE. And finally the rudeness to ban Mbecause of their unethical practices. Shame on them. I STRONGLY urge you NOT to take your pet here... It's simple customer service and COMMON SENSE...And this place doesn't get it. Instead their unethical money grabbing practices are what they enforce. Very very SAD. Update on Milly: We have found a new vet who took a look at Milly and said she's recovering well (see pic below!) and needs another 5-7 days in her bandage and cone. Oh, and the vet literally LOL'd when I told her the story of what this clinic tried to pull. Completely unethical... Putting a pet down is one of the most difficult things I've ever had to do, but now, looking back at it, I cannot even imagine doing this again anywhere else but here. I had been going to a nonprofit vet for a while, and although it was cheaper than your conventional vet, the wait times and quality wasn't the same. When I saw that my fur baby was approaching her final days, I knew I needed to take her somewhere where she'd get the best treatment, and somewhere where I would also feel very comfortable. I called Sunset Animal Clinic after my boyfriend told me how great they were, since our other dog goes there. They quickly picked up the phone and I explained to them my situation - I felt like my dog's time was coming to an end, but that I wanted a second opinion from a vet before making any decision. The person on the line, who I met up later that day in person, was beyond amazing. At one point in the conversation I felt like I was talking to a friend about my dog, and not just someone at the vet clinic. She was beyond empathetic, made me feel understood, and was able to squeeze me in that same day, even though it was Christmas Eve. When I got to the clinic, the staff welcomed me and Steffy, my dog. I then spoke to the vet, who after examining her decided it was best to put her down, to end all suffering. He explained to me my options, in the most honest way possible. My fear with certain vets is that they'll recommend expensive treatments to profit off these situations, but the staff at Sunset Animal Clinic did the opposite of this. The whole process of putting a pet down is difficult, and it was the first time I had to do this. The vet explained everything to me, gave me the space to be with my dog for the last time, and only treated her with care, love, and compassion throughout the whole process. The staff even hugged me as I left and told me they were available if I needed to talk, cry, or anything else in between. Although I miss my dog dearly, I know she is not suffering anymore, and I am glad that her last times on this world were spent with a compassionate team, eating yummy snacks, and being loved by those around her. My little wolf tore his ACL running after a squirrel in my backyard. The irony of it all is that he was wearing a Dolphins jersey during the incident. He was limping and i honestly wasn't prepared to deal with this during exam week. I scheduled an appointment here for my pseudo-service wolf and was promptly given an appointment time. I carried Junior inside as they examined his leg. I honestly thought it was broken but they were able to offer me some medicine for him to deal with the pain along with a treatment plan for his recovery. Surgery wasn't necessary but he was a champ and recovered quickly in time to go to Doggie Day Camp with his buddies. I went to refill his prescription about a week and a half later and I was in and out within minutes. They accept insurance and have an online pharmacy for puppy supplements to keep his buddy in tip top shape. read more

This is an amazing veterinarian. I discovered Sunset Animal Clinic when I needed help for one of my cats who was very old and her body was just shutting down. All of the team at Sunset are truly genuine and love what they do and it shows. From the front desk, the techs who have to do all the necessary stuff to the vets themselves. I was truly floored by the service and the humble pricing also. It wasn't painfully expensive for this trip. Now, I bring all of my animals and even guest animals when we baby sit (unbelievably- not everyone takes their dogs for annual check ups and licensing). A few weeks ago I started to notice that my short haired tabby, Ripley, was excessively grooming herself. At first I thought nothing of it. A few days later I noticed she had developed a bald spot on her front right leg and was still, licking and biting away. As I examined the area I noticed it was becoming raw and red. I became extremely concerned and started to call around. Due to COVID and it being the weekend (Saturday afternoon), no one was able to see her until Wednesday. I called Sunset Animal Clinic and was surprised when they were able to squeeze me in, Monday morning. When I arrived I was greeted at the door by a very friendly staff member, her name escapes me now :/ but, she listened to my concerns and was genuinely empathic. She informed me the Doctor on staff had to do a house call but, she would ask and see what could be done. I half expected the staff member to return and tell me I would have to come back (I was early for my appointment by an hour). To my pleasant surprise the veterinarian herself, Dr. Kat Kuscevic, came out to greet me. She confirmed some of the information I had provided and, told me not to worry that she would give Ripley a look over and just needed twenty minutes. I half Expected she was going to tell me I had to come in a few hours. I was blown away by her sense of urgency and bedside manner. I wish more medical doctors were like her. When she returned she took her time and explained everything to me. She had to be somewhere else, a house call no less, I was early, and she still took the time to walk me through everything. She answered all my questions and even emailed me photos and a report of what we had discussed (and it was a thorough report. Not bullet points). Even more surprising, my cat ego, normally freaks out at the vet was...calm. Not just with the staff but, with her. She prescribed me two antibiotics, had already reached out to the nearest pharmacy for me (one of the antibiotics was not in stock at the office), and was just brilliant to interact with. I went to this place many years ago with my cat and at that time I thought they were excellent. The owner Dr Kuly did the test and attended my cat and I felt a if I was in a human hospital. My cat ended up having cancer and they discovered it after expending money in other places without actually finding the root of the problem. But this time I went with my dog for a simple nail trimming. Remembering how good they were with my cat I called and ask if they could trim my dogs nails. The receptionist told me to go and wait for a technician to be available. I went and they were not busy and I waited patiently for 30 minutes and ask the lady if I was going to be help she said yes I waited more when I saw the receptionist talking to a tech about me waiting to be attended. The tech a lady made a face like oMG how annoying and told me I'm sorry we don't have time too many appointments or something like that. And she was so rude. I understand what I went for was not as important but why made me wait that long almost an hour to tell me that they had no technician available. Specially her face of sorry we are not here for that! I will never come back to this place for anything. This place changed. Specially the customer service that I saw while waiting there that hour was not good. Rude and with and attitude of highness ( altivez) don't know how to translate that. Not nice or empathy at all. Oh and the poor receptionist look scared and unhappy. read more

I took my cat to emergency MVS and after waiting 3 hrs, I wewent to Sunset Animal Clinic. Within 5 minutes they took us in and the doctor was seen my cat in 10 minutes Dr. Gavilia exam her and her assistant; both were great. I came to drop off a very senior dog for an 8:30am appointment today. I walked back to my car carrying the dog to get my mask as a sign by the door says they are required regardless of vax status. I normally wear a mask so this is not an issue. The issue is the unmasked receptionist who unlocked the door, invited 2 unmasked people inside who arrived after me with their dogs and told me I had to wait outside holding a blind & deaf senior dog in the blazing sun- literally zero shade. This old pup belongs to very good friends of mine whom I actually referred to Sunset when they moved to Miami; I have recommended Sunset to several other families as well. This flagrant lack of courtesy combined with unprofessional practices is disappointing... further, no explanation was given as to why I was left outside and 2 unmasked people with their dogs were invited inside. I asked what was going on and was told "the lobby is closed" and that they "were busy" - it's 8:30AM- I'm standing outside your door with a dog who has an appointment. If your lobby is closed as you stated, why were two unmasked people with their pets whisked inside? Not cool. The procedure for this particular dog was an ultrasound; again, the patient is very senior dog who had not eaten and gets anxious when hungry. I told the tech she hadn't eaten and asked when I could pick her up and the tech said they'd be done by 11-12. She took the dog in (I was still sweating on the sidewalk in the sun talking through a door crack) and she took my phone number and assured me they'd call. I just called shortly after 12pm and got a voice mail that they were closed for lunch until 2pm. No call, the dog has been there since 8:30am and she has neither eaten nor had her meds. So they open at 8am, (but don't call them at 8am bc they don't answer the phone) they close for lunch from 12-2pm and then close at 4pm... I will not be recommending Sunset ever again. read more

I came here for about 2 years and I can't tell you to STAY AWAY enough. First of all, they never let me enter the room to be there for the appointment and required for me to drop my cat off. At first I understood due to COVID precautions but years later, they've maintained this stance and so my cat would stay locked up in a cage in their office not feeling well until they had a moment to see her. SAC had a habit of not being clear about the cost of certain procedures and the end bill was more than what was quoted. They had recommended vitamin B12 therapy for my cat. They said that I would have to bring her in every day for a couple of days starting the next week and I agreed. I paid for the B12 shots that same day and then they had the audacity to tell me when I requested a refund a month later (because my cat wound up feeling better and not needing the shots) to tell me "no" because they apparently gave her the shots. It was BS. I never took her in for the shots and they essentially stole my money since I had to move a short while later anyway. The last time I took my cat to SAC, she came home with an internal ear injury and it seems it was because they were far too rough with taking her temperature. Worst of all, their examinations are not in-depth whatsoever. For 3 years, I took my cat here for various issues. Never ONCE did they tell me that she had a heart condition that merited further examination and medication. It took moving away and going to a new vet that specialized in cats only for them to tell me that my cat had likely been suffering with heart failure for at least the past 2 years. All the issues I had taken her to Sunset Animal Clinic for wound up being symptoms of heart failure, and SAC misdiagnosed her and insisted on the diagnosis despite my questions. At my new vet, they did many tests and unfortunately due to negligence from SAC, my cat passed away from congestive heart failure. If SAC would've done more in-depth tests and been receptive to my questions and concerns, my cat would've been put on medication that would've eased her suffering and perhaps prolonged her life. Edit: After receiving a message from SAC asking me to take down my review, I'd like to share what was messaged to me: - They told me that they "never held COVID protocols past 6 months related to keeping the pet separated from the owner during a visit." I took my cat to SAC 8 times since late 2020 up to 2022 and they did not allow me or my husband to be present during the visits. - They also said "we don't recommend vitamin B12 injections along the lines you describe". I have the receipt detailing this was prescribed with directions. I'm not sure how there's such a large miscommunication between staff but again, another reason to not bring your cat here. read more

I usually never post bad things about any place i go because, despite of my experience i think they can do better. But at this time i have to. I come here to check my dogs eye they literally did not touch her or did any exam and even when the dr came in told me "i cant do anything you have to go to an eye doctor". And they still charge me when they did not completely anything in the visit. Not recommended at all. read more

After our beloved Dr. Donocoff (we love you Dr. D!!!) moved to New York to lead a research study at a university, we thought we would never find that connection with another veterinarian again. We continued as patients at the same clinic, each visit more disappointing than the last. I was starting to think we would have to fly to New York. I found Sunset Animal Clinic on Yelp and was instantly drawn to Dr. Khuly because of her bright pink hair. I have yet to meet a person with hot pink hair I didn't love (see: husband). Of course, someone's hair color is not reason enough to entrust your pets life in their (very cool) hands. Upon further research I found Dr. Khuly's website where she has several columns, blog posts, and an extensive list of awards and qualifications. This awesome lady has been published everywhere from The Miami Herald to a magazine about chickens and USA Today. Obviously she had to be my dogs new veterinarian. The clinic staff is awesome to start. Making an appointment was a breeze, and they took care of transferring my pets records from their old clinic. Yes, you read that right. They ACTUALLY transferred the information without hiccup. Amazing. The clinic itself is cute, clean, and chic. They have an entrance for dogs and an entrance for cats. The patients in the waiting room were all calm and happy. They even had baskets of toys for you to play with your pooch in the meantime. My wait was about 10 minutes after I filled out my new client form. I'm happy to report that the exam room was so modern and clean as well. I waited there another minute or two before Dr. Khuly and her vet tech arrived. Dr. Khuly really filled that room with joy. She was bright, bubbly, and friendly. I instantly felt at ease and I could tell my dogs were too. My dog being seen that day is normally a nervous wreck. I told her about our efforts to socialize him and that we were working with a trainer. She talked to him, Pet him, and played with him until he relaxed. She was very attentive to his body language and was very concerned with him feeling comfortable in this new environment. She was knowledgeable on my dogs breed (sheltie) and what vaccines and medications did and did not mix will with them specifically, something I usually had to inform the other veterinarians about. She even offered alternatives to heartworm preventative that we did not know existed as Shelties often cannot tolerate Hartgard. While they did not carry it at the clinic, they do have a pharmaceutical website we can order from without a prescription which was AWESOME. Another thing I loved is that they did not frown upon the fact that one of my dogs is not neutered. We show dogs, and the purpose of dog shows is to evaluate breeding stock. Naturally, this means a dog being shown cannot be neutered (although we do not personally breed). Our vet did not push neutering blindly and understood that it is possible to be a responsible owner with an in tact dog. I really appreciated the knowledge and insight on the topic and loved that they recommend neutered on a case by case basis depending on what's best for that dog. Overall my experience at Sunset Animal Clinic was phenomenal. From the communication, to the helpful and informed front desk, to the awesome techs, and the adorable chalkboard wall with all of the patients names written on them... this place is truly a gem. I wish I could make a second appointment already just so my husband could experience what I did today. He is already sick of me telling him how AWESOME our new vet clinic is, and of course the wonderful Dr. Khuly. Thank you!! read more

Such great staff, beautifully clean facility, incredibly knowledgeable Vet that made us feel welcomed and safe during these trying times. Took my 15 week old puppy here for her vaccines because I didn't trust the vet the seller recommended.
