Lunch menu: Brisket sandwich (top) and smoked trout salad (bottom). Both were great!

Excellent lunch! We came here on the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend just before noon (it opens at 1130). The whole menu looks delicious and the choice was tough but we went with the smoked trout salad ($17) with quail eggs, apple, potato, asparagus, and picked onions along with the brisket sandwich on marble rye bread with maple mustard (and side salad). Everything was delicious and service was great too. When we left around 1pm, the place was packed! Would love to come for dinner one day but I hear you should make a reservation . Definitely worth a visit! Go check it out if you are in the area.

I went to this restaurant last week for lunch while up north for vacation. I have driven by hundreds of times & thought it was overdue to try. We sat outside on the patio. It was gorgeous & couldn't ask for a prettier view looking over Lake Rosseau. The food was great. I had the sandwich of the day for $12 which was a veal schnitzel on a bun with fries...soooo good. My boyfriend had the fish & chips which were given a delicious review as well. The lunch food portions were really big. The waitress was really nice & knowledgeable about everything on the menu. Overall, the prices were pretty standard for a lunch menu at a nicer restaurant & I really enjoyed this meal. The dinner menu is completely different & a little more fancy so make sure you check it out first. You shouldn't be disappointed.

This place is really quaint. The atmosphere is really nice year-round, there's a good selection of fine dining local-ingredient-inspired food as well as pub food. The food is delicious and the patio is quite nice also. As a regular visitor to the area, I would love it if the business hours were more accommodating, but considering its location in cottage country where the annual and seasonal population changes drastically, I understand why they can't be open late on a Tuesday in the middle of January. :-) I would recommend Crossroads for a nice dinner (any time of year) or for a casual drink and appetizer on the patio in the summer.

the intersection of a busy street

I walked past the Crossroads this afternoon. I don't know the exact Covid-19 regulations for Rosseau but it was clear nobody seemed concerned about a disease killing many Ontarians. I didn't see anyone maintaining any resemblance of social distancing nor wearing masks except for the waiters. Crossroads irresponsible??

In Rosseau, there isn't that many excellent places to eat. But this place is a gem. Our server Amy was awesome. She made the night go by so smoothly. The food was top notch from the pork chop which was perfectly cooked to the veal chop that was also perfectly cooked to all the fresh ingredients. All in all an excellent experience. Be sure to make a reservation because they get busy.

Fine dining, varied menu, good wine selection, slightly pricey but you are in the Muskokas.

Depending on your appetite, one pizza is enough for two people. We had plenty of leftovers to bring back having ordered too much. Every table offers a great view of the water with a choice of sun or covered dining areas. Lunch for 6 people with one cocktail each was pricey at $445 CAD including a generous tip which was well earned in our opinion. Certainly not inexpensive but also on par with other nicer restaurants in the area.

I came on a Friday night and there was plenty of seating especially by the waterfront. Funghi pizza: Delicious pizza but the portions were small, it's more an individual size. The pizza dough was on the thick side. Decent amount of toppings. Pasta: Nothing too special, quite standard pasta. It wasn't bad but wasn't particularly a standout. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The waterfront views at the patio were amazing to see Rosseau Bay. I came during the more quiet season so, I would imagine this place to be more busy during the peak summer period. Worth the visit if you are looking for beautiful views and a nice dining experience.

We had a party of 12 so this might explain why our food took so long to come. Some people at our table got their food straight away but I got my food 1 hour later and even then my order was wrong. I asked for pan fried pickerel got deep fried and it was very dark even burnt in some places . Not golden brown like fish and chips usually is. My friend got the lake fish and was told that she got trout even though it clearly wasn't trout. I was disappointed as this restaurant looked pretty good and was such a cute little place. Side note there is a store downstairs and might not want to get any food down there because it is overpriced and stale.

They had ordered all 4 types (white, pickerel, etc). They were different and delicious in their own way. The homemade coleslaw that it came with was unique and light. The breading on the fish was thin and crispy. The fish chowder was filling and great for 2 people. Service was a little slow but the servers were kind. There is very little parking so plan accordingly.

And we hadn't been bothered by mosquitos yet in Muskoka (apparently it had been "too hot"), so we'd been rather cavalier with the mosquito spray. Cue "Lord of the Valkyries" from "Apocalypse Now" with the entrance of the mosquitos. The mosquitos particularly seemed to be fond of the picante pizza. That's when they made their first appearance - I'm guessing it was because of the honey on the pizza - and they dissipated somewhat when the food was gone. Some candles would have been nice to help with our mosquito naivete but the restaurant didn't have any. We got a seasonal special of Niagara-on-the-Lakes peach caprese. They had me at peach, caprese, AND Niagara-on-the-Lakes (one of my favorite places). The dish consisted of peaches, bocconcini (small fresh mozzarella balls), cucumbers, and peach gazpacho. It was good but small and honestly I thought it would be better. We were told the aforementioned picante pizza (salami, fior di latte mozzarella, honey) was the most popular. The salami was cut too big so some bites were all salami and some bites were no salami. It was good but I'd get a different pizza in the future. There's a similar pizza ("the sweet and heat" at State of Mind) in Palo Alto near where I live that works a little better that's topped with bacon, jalapenos, and honey. The husband and daughter liked their margherita pizza. My favorite dish was the pappardelle with short rib ragu. Short ribs always make everything better. The server was really nice and volunteered some places to visit in Muskoka.

Don't be surprised if your food hits the table before a tipple. Both the Great North mule and spicy vodkarita were well balanced with enough alcohol to create a kick that reminds you there's 2oz in the drink. And while the pink raspberry lemonade looks and tastes refreshing, the fake raspberry flavour just didn't cut it for me. We all agreed that their fries rock. The parmesan truffle fries ($12) feature cut potatoes that arrive sizzling hot and covered with enough grated parmesan to create a melted crust on top. The truffle oil was a bit muted but I'm fine with it not being so overpowering. Their sweet potato fries ($12) are one of the best I've sampled, fluffy and cut thinly so there's a lovely crunchy crust to encapsulate the sweet soft interior. The fries going wonderfully with the buffalo chicken dip ($15), a gooey creamy sauce that has quite the cheese pull as well as large chunks of chicken breast. I only wish it was served with the "warm flat bread" noted on the menu instead oily fried pita that was so heavy paired with the dairy. I just stuck with the fries for dipping. In between a starter and a main lies the seafood chowder ($20), which arrives hot with a few scant slices of toasted baguette. The soup has a wonderful flavour but is more potato than seafood... I tasted some white fish and perhaps a bay scallop but little of the lobster and wild salmon that is touted on the menu. If you're looking for something to soak up the booze, their handhelds are the way to go. The turkey burger ($23) features a surprisingly juicy patty (when compared with their beef burger) that gets a bit of extra flavour from the feta and spinach that's mixed into the pulverized patty. The sweet and savoury tomato preserve was an interesting condiment that lends the burger a hint of cranberry sauce taste.
