This place was wildly underwhelming. It's in a run down strip mall and the inside matches the outside- dusty fake plants, worn past the point of usefulness, and service was as slow as maple syrup. Food was subpar and took over 40 minutes to come to the table (3 other tables of people). A local contractor sat in his booth with his phone on speaker and proceeded to have a very loud conversation with 45 minutes about sump pumps. If you want to overpay for a lukewarm, subpar breakfast, and get a lesson in the trades, this place is for you. read more

We stopped for lunch at a highly rated restaurant on Yelp. It was a true, Nick's restaurant provided us with an unbelievably large portion on deliciously flavourful souvlaki, with crispy fries, rice and fresh Greek salad. It was a challenge to finish but we did it! It was fantastic and ver reasonable. First Impression: The exterior represents a large family home once you pull into the parking lot. The seating area is spacious, easily accomadatable for a group of 4-6. The dining area was packed with locals in the area, with seating being a choose-where-you want situation. Food: We ordered a Combo 1 Hungry man that was shared between my parter and I. The bacon, scramble eggs tasted good, with everything tasting not too oily or burnt. We also ordered a regular sized Greek Salad that was also sharable. The salad itself was not too saucey, and had the perfect amount of feta! Final thoughts: The food experience was good and pricing was reasonable. My only tip is that you may need to be proactive when you enter the restaurant if you're not a local passing by. As noted in the previous reviews, the waiters didn't pay us much attention once we arrived and sat down. We needed to take initative to ask for the menu and for glasses of water. Went to Muskoka with friends in the thanksgiving long weekend, found this place on Yelp. Apparently it's a very popular place in local, it was thanksgiving Sunday but still no empty spot in the room. We waited for about 10 minutes. For breakfast I always order pure pancakes (no bacons and eggs) and that's my "tool" to judge a breakfast restaurant. And the pancakes they made here were amazing! It was crispy on the edge and fluffy towards the inner side, the bottom was a little over roasted but made the outside even more crispy. Unlike many other places whose pancakes are soft but sloppy, what this place made was just perfect. My friends had the full plate with peameal bacon, they said the bacons were too salty. The service was great, don't know if that lady was the owner but she was very nice to us, given that we were the only asian table in the room. read more

We were passing by Bracebridge on the way back from camping and were hungry. The kids and hubby wanted pizza and I wanted something a bit healthier like a wrap. Enter Nick's Family restaurant. We called ahead and ordered 2 medium pizzas and a pork souvlaki wrap with Greek salad. Nick's is one of the few restaurants in downtown Bracebridge that has a parking lot so this made it very easy to navigate our SUV with platform hitch attached, to pick up our food. The food was ready on time and hot and fresh. Both kids and husband loved the pizza. It tasted home made, had a good amount of cheese and was cooked perfectly. The size of the pizza's were huge. A medium at Nick's is akin to a large at other pizza chains. The pork souvlaki wrap was delicious. Perfect amount of toppings and sauce. Greek salad was fresh. They have a charming outdoor patio that looks very inviting. Will definitely return when visiting Bracebridge again. read more

I had the Hot hamburger and my dad had his favourite toasted western. Mine came with a soup to start! I knew it would be a big meal so I only ate half the soup which was awesome! The hot hamburger was just as amazing! My dad loved his toasted western so that says a lot right there as well as he is very picky about his toasted westerns. Very hot! Also the coffee was quite good as well! The ambiance was very comfy and easy. The waitress was quite attentive. The only downfall was that here isn't a wheelchair ramp. PLEASE NOTE I DID NOT GET A CHANCE TO EAT HERE BECAUSE NO ONE CAME TO THE HOSTESS STAND FOR OVER 45 MINUTES The only reason why this place is getting 2 stars is because the food in the pictures look amazing and my sister ate here and loved the food. I got in line with my girlfriend and saw that there were 2 people ahead of us. One group went in so we thought it wouldn't be much longer until we were seated. While in line, we saw a group of people who were seated with menus in front of them. One of the ladies started to cough uncontrollably and said to her friend "no, i'm fine, i just need water". That's when I realized that they didn't even have any drinks in front of them. There was another group who had empty plates in front of them since the time we got there and no one came to clean it up or bring them the bill. After 20 minutes of waiting, we asked the person in front of us how long she had been waiting and she said 20 minutes. She also said that no one had come out to check on the line. We gave them 5 minutes and ended up leaving because even if we got a table, the wait staff was non existent. As we left (at least 25 minutes later), that's when we saw the wait staff bring water to the table with the lady coughing and the bill to the table who had been sitting with empty plates. Mind you, in the 25 minutes, we NEVER saw wait staff and we saw 3 groups of people leave. I get that COVID is causing restaurants to downsize their staff, but the restaurant we ended up at was also just as busy and had 2 staff but they still managed to check on the wait line and bring people their waters and coffee. read more

To be honest, I can't speak to the food. It looked homey, and plentiful, and it smelled great. Unfortunately, we didn't get that far. It wasn't busy on the Saturday morning my husband and I went in. We were told to sit anywhere, and we chose the porch. There was one other family of six or seven perusing the menu. A waitress walked by and acknowledged us, and went to take the family's order. She put menus on our table as she walked by, but didn't offer coffee or water. And then? We sat. And sat and sat. We sat long enough for the family to have their food cooked and brought to them. We sat long enough for the family to almost finish their meal. Not once, during all that time were we even looked at. I couldn't even make eye contact in order to beckon someone over. We just left. We walk in at 7 pm and some woman comes out of the kitchen and rudely tells us they close at 7! When I tell her what her website says , she just walks away! On a recent trip to Bracebridge we ate supper at chuck's roadhouse and had breakfast at nick's should have had both meals at Nick's it is non pretentious and very clean the menu came with a lot of 3 egg options we are both on a diet so Edna asked for 2 scrambled with an order of toast so I followed suit with 2 poached eggs and toast. Cooked to perfection! The only problem we both received a jam, a peanut butter and a marmalade (we only used the jam) it would have been better if we had a tray. I went here early one morning to grab breakfast. The restaraunt is in an old house. The interior is far from classy; I would compare it to a truck stop - but there is an intimacy to the place. The breakfast menu was well priced and had a great selection. I enjoyed their coffee as well. The service polite and friendly. The portions are quite substantial and the taste is exceedingly great. For value you cannot beat Nick's in almost all of Ontario. This place has really gone down hill over the years. I used to be a regular when I lived in town and I could always count on their breakfast being really and their poutines being top notch. Not anymore - we came back into town this weekend and I wanted to show this place to my husband and daughter. We ordered the eggs Benedict which was the daily special and the eggs came out slimy, the peameal was thicker than a steak and the hollandaise was congealed and had a dried film on the top as if it had been sitting out for ages. We sent those back and decided to get poutines instead as it was after lunch time now, and they came out with most of the fries dry, little to no cheese (which was shredded pizza mozzarella) and what little gravy they did have was saltier than the ocean and was gritty as if there was actual sand in it. VERY disappointed but other diners seemed to be enjoying their meals so it can't be all bad. If I were you, I'd stick to basics like an omelette (that's hard to mess up). read more
