The food made myself my husband sick. Unfortunately this is not a rare occurrence. Ive spoken to others that avoid this restaurant do to either poorly cooked food, over cooked food or food that taste like it is going bad. We wanted to make are own judgment about this restaurant so we gave it a go. The rush to get home started soon after we left the restaurant. Its unfortunate because staff are so kind and helpful. Believe me, I'm as sad as the restaurant may be to read this review. After seeing all the positive reviews I'm wondering how on earth we could have had such an underwhelming and unsatisfying experience. We had so much hope! A blt with avocado...let's talk about a $17 BLT first of all. But to have it served on rye bread that was about the size of the palm of my hand (I chose rye out of white or whole wheat)...barely a full slice of tomato could fit and then to be charged $2 for avocado when the amount of avocado was hilariously miniscule. I subbed onion rings for the fries which cost an extra $3.50 so all in all my very underwhelming lunch was more than $22. For anyone who enjoys a proper Eggs Benedict with hollandaise sauce please be prepared for a vegan sauce, no butter or eggs put toward that. It was all a little weird to be honest...how a couple of extremely standard dishes could be soooooo .... sigh..... blah. Maybe chicken fingers would be a safe bet next time? read more

What an amazing experience at Main St. Local Kitchen in Huntsville, labour day weekend. As a person who always has difficulty finding Gluten Free options on menus, I was pleasantly surprised to find many, made from scratch and in house, GF options. Chef Ryan was especially most accommodating to everyone at the table regardless of dietary restrictions. Chef Ryan personally visited our table and was extremely welcoming and friendly. He ended up sharing with me his homemade GF bread that he labored to perfect and it was PERFECTION! We had such an enjoyable, inclusive, accommodating and above all delicious experience and will definitely be coming back. We stopped in to grab a late lunch before hitting the slopes and our waitress Carrie made our visit so comfortable and lovely. We ordered smoked brisket sandwich with a side of Caesar salad, roast chicken wrap with a side of Greek salad and a pancake breakfast with a side of fresh fruit and sausages. The food came out promptly and the portions were gargantuan. All our dishes were pretty well executed with smoked brisket being nice and juicy and my roast chicken wrap came rolled tightly in a toasted tortilla with lots of veggies. Only miss was the pancakes as they were almost burnt. Not a bad spot for lunch but as in typical Huntsville style, this was another pricey meal at almost $90 for lunch. read more

Rating 4 stars for food, 3.5 stars for slow service. We came during lunch and were told it would be a 20 min wait for a party of six so we left. They texted just 10 mins later that the table was available but we had already sat down at a different restaurant. So we came back for dinner the next night and had no trouble getting a table as it was almost empty at 6 pm. The food was pretty good. We ordered a turkey burger with Greek salad that my husband thought was excellent, and the pepper pasta with tofu or chicken which came with a delicious tomato basil sauce and two large slices of yummy garlic bread. The fish and chips had a huge portion of haddock and another huge portion of fries (which we upgraded to sweet potato), and we also ordered the western sandwich which was fine. The drink options were limited but I thought the Pinot Grigio was fine and my husband liked his IPA. The ice cream came with four scoops which my kid devoured. However, the kids chicken tenders was a pretty small portion and a bit dry, also with a ton of country fries. Also, when we literally sat down and were being handed the menus, we were asked what we wanted to drink (we did not yet know) and again a few minutes later which felt a bit rushed. This was in stark contrast to our wait of over 45 mins for our food, even though there was only one table of six ahead of us. So it must be a pretty small kitchen. When we asked for the kids food to be brought out first, the server was helpful in getting that expedited and also in finding us some coloring paper and crayons. All in all, we had a good meal. Pretty good stop for a bite along the main street of downtown Huntsville. Main St Local gives off a homey feel, and it translates to the food. The big winner was the coconut cream pie: smooth and silky, strong but not overpowering coconut taste, and a nice crumbly crust. We also got onion rings (had a smoky flavour to them; and the lemon dip went really well with it), fish and chips (a bit disappointing as the batter was too thick, and the side coleslaw had a weird almost chicken taste; the fish itself was nice and a good portion) and philly cheese melt (great portion size for the beef in perfectly thickness for the shavings, tasty cheese melt, standout pretzel baguette). We walked in with no reservation and they welcomed us despite being under staffed and crazy busy. We shared a calamari appetizer which was different in a great way--a little kick to it and perfectly breaded. Not greasy at all. Then we shared a Greek Salad with the orange citrus dressing. Again, excellent, large potion and the side garlic bread was so good. They never turned anyone away the whole time we were there! And lots of hungry/no reservation people--we would return again! So glad we found this place while looking for a good place to eat in Huntsville. We had our doggie with us so we opted to get takeout and eat by the docks. I ordered the grilled cheese (comes with fries) from the kids/small bites menu. The portion size was surprisingly not that bad for a kids menu! The grill cheese was amazing. Main Street local was such a treat. We are from out of town visiting Huntsville and absolutely loved our experience at this restaurant. We came on a Sunday at 10:30am and they were fully packed, we waited about 20 minutes and then got seated. The menu here has a great selection of staple appetizers, breakfast and lunch items. We ordered the Breakfast Skillet, Steak and Eggs, Poutine and Greek salad which were all very delicious, loved everything and it came out in a very timely manner. The real star of the show for this restaurant though was our server, Carrie. This restaurant is a hidden gem. Like the name suggests, the restaurant has a casual atmosphere. But the food is better than some dishes prepared in well decorated restaurants. I had Avocado Snapper for dinner. It is amazing. Snapper is well portioned. It comes with grilled veg and either rice or potato. I selected rice. The chef has good control of the flavour of food. We searched online for a spot to eat and this local gem didn't come up as an option, but we're glad we found it for our date night! Was really excited to try this place, the reviews were good and the food looked amazing. Unfortunately, the food left a lot to be desired. The burger patty was dry and flavourless, the bun also dry. Fries were a bit too mushy for my liking, although you might like if you like homestyle. The chicken tenders were tasty, but ordinary - I would compare them to inferior Chicken McNuggets, at double the price. The soup of the day was sweet potato and coconut, which reminded me of instant tomato soup with coconut milk. My partner said the the best thing we ate was the hot water with lemon we got at the beginning of the meal. On the positive side, the space was beautiful and modern, and the servers were lovely. The restaurant is bright and airy, the staff are so kind and welcoming, and the food is just delicious! We have been staying in town for a few weeks now on business and surprised at the lack of diversity in the food options that are available seems like you either have very expensive high-end restaurants or fast food. This place is a real lifesaver for a guy like myself who is looking for some nice food at reasonable price with the option to take it back home. The food here is absolutely incredible! Made from scratch you cannot get any better than this! It's incredible what you can get for 30 bucks. I am just thoroughly impressed each time I try something new on the menu. Regardless of the temperature it was probably the worst eggs Benedict I've ever had because of some sort of misguided orange infusion in the hollandaise sauce.
