The atmosphere and wait time isn't what sucks about this place, because their system is actually really cool and I like the guy that opens the door, he is very welcoming and sweet. What DOES suck is the fact that the "buyers" have no idea what they're doing. I cleaned out my closet and found a bunch of unworn, still tagged stuff and I'm like "Oh cool! Let me try to be sustainable and pass them on and maybe get a little cash". Dude...EMPHASIS on "little" lmao I haven't sold in YEARS, like since the good ol days at Jet Rag so I decided to call ahead to be sure I wasn't bringing anything stupid. Not only did the guy let me know that they were "lenient towards plus sizes because they need more plus size clothes" also I asked specific questions on what condition, style, etc. they were looking for as to not waste my time or theirs. Useless. After waiting nearly an hour to be called up the guy at the counter offers me $35 total for: a BRAND NEW pair of UGG boots and a COMME DES GARÇONS polo with the tags still on it and one pair of ugly ass forever 21 pants that I've had for like 10 years lmao Ended up keeping my stuff because it's way too obvious that he would either take my stuff and completely jack up the price or he was gonna take the polo for himself. It was just such a slap in the face to offer me like $10 for that polo when there was a flimsy JACQUEMUS dress hanging above his head priced at $247 lmao read more

I've been here as a buyer and as a seller and both experiences were mostly disappointing. As other reviewers have said, they mostly refuse to buy any fresh and trendy articles of clothing bearing a tag that says Express, H&M, etc. From what I can tell, they'll accept anything (however frumpy or ugly) from Zara. Let me tell you, not everything Zara makes is cute. And I think their flawed buying system is exactly why the shopping experience is such a let down. The last time I came to this location, I tried on a few items and I found stains on two of them (see pictures). Gross. I also saw a shirt on the rack that was Entirely covered in cat hair. The only explanation I can think of is that the buyers are trained to focus so hard on finding Zara tags that they don't actually inspect the quality of the clothes. I've had better luck at other Crossroads locations, but to reiterate- this is basically a dirty, secondhand Zara outlet. read more

So disappointed in the staff. I've been a fan of Crossroads, especially the one in Pasadena, but the staff here is rude. We walked in at 6pm and the security guard rudely told us that the store closes in 45 minutes so "you better be quick" Uuumm. Ok? The store had really cute clothes and there were a few pieces I wanted to try on but when I went to the dressing room area, the staff member told me the dressing room is closed because the store is closing in 20 minutes. I told her it's not going to take me 20 minutes "yes, but you need to factor in the time it takes to pay". Are you kidding me? I've never encountered anything like this. Yes, I understand shops and restaurants close at a certain time, but 99.9% of the time, they let the customers finish and just close and lock the door to prevent any new customers. Located on the famous Melrose Avenue, parking can be awful. Make sure you read the parking signs to avoid unnecessary expenses. The employees here are decent. It really depends who you interact with. I felt extremely discriminated against here! I went to crossroads to shop for my birthday and saw that they had a half off rack. I went to purchase a pair of jeans that were marked with a half off sticker. When the clerk (a young girl with black hair) rung me up she told me the total which was half off then as I swiped my card she stopped me and said that the jean were actually not half off because the ticket was "tampered with". I asked her how and she said that it was ripped. After explaining to her that they were on the half off rack she didn't even try to come up with a fair solution. Just told me that I had to pay full price . I also felt as though she accused me of tampering with the ticket. I went back to the half off rack to find a similar pair of jeans and saw that there were numerous tickets that were ripped and torn as well so I brought them to her. I said "so what exactly counts as half off if all of these tickets look identical to the one I gave you?" She then says that those tickets were tampered with too!? It seemed as though they made a mistake and tried to blame it on the customer. Maybe they were saving the clothes for themselves, maybe they just didn't want to sell to me. I'm not sure why this place only has 3 reviews. I LOVE it! In fact, I thought it was the best consignment shop on Melrose Ave. Ironically the very first thing I picked up was 50% off ... a cool ass grey purse. That was the very first thing I picked up. I walked to the counter to see if I read the tag correctly, she said Yes and we have plenty of items throughout the store that's 50% off. I smiled. I was thrilled! I proceeded to pick up every single cool dress, skirt, pair of pants I could find and thought would fit me. That's how I like to thrift shop. I had about 10 outfits in my hand. I tried all of them on and only ended up with a bodysuit, 1 pair of slacks, 1 shirt and my purse. I tried on so much stuff lol ... nothing fit nicely on my body. That's okay My boyfriend only found a cool as Herschel weekender bag for $40 bucks. It was spanking new, still in tags so I understand the need for the $40 price tag. It was in perfect condition. HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE EMPLOYEES I TOOK A WHOLE DAMN DUFFLE BAG . Ok I get it, they might be a trending brand clothing thrift store but they should tell you that from the gec go. The employees honestly do suck listen to all the reviews. I was thinking maybe it's not bad and all these people are grumpy but oooooh let me tell you , they are terrible they think they are better than you and don't even acknowledge you. They act like you're basically bringing in trash. They took 3 of my items and I was already done with their attitude so I didn't say anything and I let it be but I had a Brand new GAP T-shirt worth $50 And they chose that along with a skirt and some puma jogging pants and all I I f****n got was $11 like wtf , like it's worth nothing to them !!! Hello hello. So I have been shopping at this store for a long time and I brought a pair of what I thought was a off white pants for $120.... When I got home, I inspected the label and realized that the pants weren't off white, but some knock off! I still had the label and the receipt and went to return the item. I explained that this was not off white and I would like to return it I showed the cas hier the label and the receipt and she told me that they can't return the item because the label was not on the pants! So pissed... Not only did they proceeded to sell me a knock off for whole sale price, refused to do a return... Super shady and really hate to stop shopping here, but I do not trust them anymore. Honestly I've been here multiple times and they've taken at least one or two of my pieces every time. Yesterday they took three or four and gave me $18 which sucks, but they do have a higher percentage for cash back than other thrift stores. The woman I dealt with was super sweet and explained in a nice way why she couldn't take my other items - fast fashion is too close to their price points & they need brand labels on the items (some I cut because they were itchy). I also had a nastygal belt she wanted to take but didn't have "nastygal" written on it so she didn't take it. The lines can be long and some of the staff slow, but overall one of my go to places to sell. read more

The two smaller Crossroads locations (Ventura Boulevard, Studio City, and Santa Monica Blvd, WeWhore) are fun and have good selections, but come to the larger Crossroads (in Santa Monica and Melrose) for the true finds. If you're strapped for funds but still enjoy shopping, or if cash isn't an issue but you still enjoy bargain-hunting like it's clothed masturbation, Crossroads is a real paradise. It's much better than Buffalo Exchange if you're looking for certain trendy, upscale brands. I think 30K Millionaires who suddenly got hit with an electricity bill decided that living in the Stone Age wasn't worth keeping a $290 pair of True Religions, which suddenly became yours for only $50. They look better on you anyway, sweetie. Almost any casual fashion item can be found at the Melrose Crossroads (and to a more limited extent, the smaller locations), and you can definitely flesh out the bulk of your wardrobe here at tremendous savings -- some items are even new, with tags and still at a markdown price. - jeans - T-shirts - skirts - sweaters - dresses - belts - shoes - jackets - bags - socks - scarves - stockings - hats - consignments - wallets - gloves - jewelry - watches - sunglasses - MORE! The only thing you'll run into trouble finding are formal suits, but come on! Go to the "real" store for your wedding gown, hotness. Also, if you're expecting a plethora of home decor items like at Buffalo exchange, you won't find it at Crossroads. Crossroads strictly serves your body, hottie. The employees at the Melrose store are a mixed bag of jaded veterans and go-getting newbs -- it's a tremendously busy location, so if you hit the spot at noon on a Saturday, don't expect the red carpet treatment, especially if a bunch of annoying hipsters are arguing with the overwhelmed buyer on duty about why she can't pay them more for their played out "vintage" garage sale stuff. Most of the workers are nice and will even offer up suggestions on what will look good on you. The fitting rooms are roomy but there are no shelves, so you either have to throw your items over the door to keep them off the floor, or... yeah, just put them on the floor. Don't waste your time here. If you have designer goods to sell do yourself a favor and take them to Wasteland down the street. I've been in here a couple times and have always had negative experiences with the buyers. This time around, I came in wanting to sell a few higher end designer items (Prada, Celine, Miu Miu) and was instantly told my items were fake, all of which I have purchased directly from the designer. In addition, when reviewing the couple clothing items I brought in, the associate scoffed and looked me up and down while saying "we don't want your plus size things". When I walked away to leave the store I could hear him laughing about it with his coworker. Would be worthwhile to train your employees in actual designer authentication and maybe a little human decency. read more

I visited this place after reading many reviews about it. I was specifically looking for a good pair of Men's jeans. Highly disappointed on the selection. Overall the store has ample elbow space. It very well organized. The shoes look a bit exhausted. I peeked at the women's jean selection and it was really good. The employees are nowhere to be found. It's so well organized that you really shouldn't need any help. They segregate stuff by accessories, bottoms, shirts, tshirts, shoes, belts, etc. They also seperate by color. The prices are very competitive. For example a great pair of Womens jeans sell for about $30-35. I saw Mens tshirts for $8. I feel I need to go back at least a couple times a week. Street parking is available. You get 15 minutes for every quarter. I'll be going back. read more

I feel like for second hand clothes the prices were still pretty expensive. The average price for everything was around $20. Maybe I'm just cheap but I feel like I could buy a new shirt from a regular store at a similar price. I did find a DVF dress for $26 that I bought. Went in two days ago to try and sell a pair of Men UGG boots retailing at about $150 and the the lady that was helping me don't remember her name but she was an Asian lady with short black hair and bangs above her eyebrows offered me $14 in store credit and $12 in cash.... I declined and went to another crossroads in Santa Monica and they offered $40 for the same shoes I had brought in. This is absolute trash that I am going to the same company stores and i was low balled at $14 for $150 worth of a shoe and the same store at another location is giving me another complete different number. read more

Where to begin...this review will cover all of the Crossroads locations as I have been to them all - frequently - as both as buyer and seller of clothes. When I first started consignment & recycled shopping, it was years before it took to the masses. It seems that every Tanya, Diane & Laura is not only trying to make a buck by selling their rags; but the quality control that used to make these stores far superior to a Salvation Army is non-existent. As a clothing seller, I am always shocked by the "expert" buyers who will refuse a pair of Rick Owens boots with a small blemish that I bring in; but rather take in the most obviously fake Chanel bags or better yet, ripped Gap t-shirts. As a clothing buyer, I seldom even go to these stores anymore as I know that I will find nothing but over priced thrift store rejects. Obviously there are exceptions to every rule and occasionally, rather rarely, you might be able to find that needle in a haystack. But be prepared to spend hours searching. read more

Just had a racially prejudiced encounter with a terribly shaky angry blond sales associate with blue lips and equally murky attitude. I let her know I called into the store ahead of time and left a message regarding a return. And she told me that was impossible because the store had no message line. I called the line in front of her face and showed her that it led to voicemail at which point she told me that it was impossible and stated it was because I had an international phone.... I promptly let her know I was born and raised in Los Angeles. To which she again replied some shaky flustered murky response. I let her know that she should try it herself if she didn't believe me. Instead of saying that she would, she proceeded to ask what carrier I had and blame my carrier for her own lack of knowledge of her own store. Any apology for her racism? Nope. Or not - considering there are not guarantees, but when you stop at Crossroads, you're mentally prepared for the hunt (aka you have eaten lunch beforehand). Of course, everyone's treasures will vary, which is part of the fun, but mine of the day were. - A nice black Zara bag for $15 - A cool velvet-ish dress (yes, this sounds terrible, but actually was quite cool) also a steal Location-specific: This location was fairly large and conveniently located on Melrose. Parking on side streets does take some luck. The only thing missing was the coveted half-off rack where the truest deals and steals are, as opposed to the smattering across the store (and a parking lot would be nice....but now we're just in dreamland). If I could give - stars I would this girl Katie the cashier she's an absolute jerk it was my 1st time selling stuff here as the misleading ads they should give u 30% to 40% of the value but truth is they give u Pennie's I came with brand new cloth with tags when I did my clean up and donated everything used and all she's I brought with boxes never used ., she took the stuff and asked me if it's my 1st time . Came back in 20 min when she called my name she picked a few items tagged them and put sensors on them already and told me ( am taking these only and the rest is no and ur getting $115 cash and $195 store credit go to cashier if ur not shopping ) I go to cashier and he gives me 112 and that's it ., long story short I refused to sell the stuff which she didn't even gave the choice to say yes or no to her offer her manger told her to get the stuff back so she came back talking smack giving me attitude that I should've understood what she meant from the beginning that I had to choose either store credit or cash offer ., and guess what they took over 28 items the least 3 would make more than $100 with their own tags proof read more

Seems disorganized and sketchy... I brought in 5 bags of designer clothing including a fun gold Givenchy cocktail dress that I paid $500 for and a box nearly brand new heels from shoedazzle. Some of the shoes had never even been worn and were still in the box. Since I had so many items they suggested a "drop off" and they would let me know what items they had accepted and that I could pick up or donate any remaining items. They didn't take one single item but eagerly offered to donate them on my behalf. I was moving to a smaller apartment and couldn't get back to the store in time before their deadline so I agreed to allow them to donate but can't help wondering if all items were really "donated" or are sitting on their racks for sale. I only say that because as I observed the items in the store there were "distressed" AKA old af forever21 brand clothing on the racks that were more expensive than if you were to buy the same item new in forever21- really?!?? Also, while we were waiting to drop off my items a rando man came into the store walked around a bit came to the counter and then bolted off stealing a faux Louis Vuitton bag hanging on the rack. The lady at the registered yelled for him to stop but he was gone. They should have a security officer onsite. Strange vibe...not for me. read more

I brought in a bag of mostly new clothes - I dealt with a blonde white lady with bangs (didn't catch her name). I realize the selection process is subjective, so she didn't take anything which is fine - I was going to donate everything anyway, but then she proceeded to give me a lecture on how they don't buy fast fashion items (as if I'd ever waste my time going back), and then she looked at me and said "sorry love", in the most condescending tone imaginable. I was told by a few higher end places NOT to come to this one. They said they don't know fashion and they don't pay. I went at my own risk. Wasteland stopped buying at 6PM and I had a car full of leather handbags, and some silk chiffon tops, kafkans and dresses I wanted to get rid of. I am moving, so I have been doing the spring cleaning. I walked in. The experience with the girls at the front was horrible!! The buyer had huge black hair at the top and and red hair at the bottom. She mumbled as she spoke. I told her I couldn't hear her, she mumbled some more. I let her look through trendy and summery clothes most with tags attached. Some designer labels. She snickered with the green eyed buyer. I honestly think she has a personal thing with wealthy white people, because she took everything out, looked quickly and passed on everything. The bags they currently sell are dusty, moldy, super worn out dark colored handbags, they seriously belong in a give away bag, not for sale, but she passed on my summer real leather brand new handbags.. All colors. I am talking about Michael Kors, Luella, Adrienne Vittadini. All New. WOW! I think I got racially profiled. I decided to donate to the Goodwill and it felt awesome!!! Save your time and energy, go to Wasteland or Love at Second Sight in the valley. They give a much better experience and about 3 times more money for your clothes! read more

This place I wont be back for a few reasons: 1. They take very little and them lowball you on the retail. You only get 30% of whatever they will sell it for if you take cash. If my shoes are $100 and I only wore them twice and you are going to "retail" them at $28 that means I get $8.40 which is about 92% less than what I paid for them. The last time I sold here, the worker was very nice and took like 15 of my items. They don't offer much money but at least it's something... The most recent time was much different and such a waste of time. After looking for parking for at least 20 minutes, I waited for over an hour for it to be my turn to sell (I get it, they were busy), and once it was my turn, the worker barely looked through my items, didn't take anything, and said it was because of the "condition". Every item I brought in was worn 1 or 2 times... She didn't even say "thank you for coming in" or "thank you for waiting". I wish she would've at least given a legit reason for not taking anything, had actually looked through my items, or thanked me at the least. Definitely a waste of time. read more

I've been here a few times times to sell clothing and have not had much success. The clothing I bring in are lightly worn, some recognizable labels, and are in season according to their selling guide. Even if they are in season and as described on their selling guide, there is no guarantee they will purchase from you. The lady who examined my clothes stated that even though they are in season, if it's not selling very well in store, they will not purchase. I also waited 45 minutes to sell the one item they did purchase which the money went towards parking. If you look around there is a sea of old t-shirts, denim, and very little of everything else which does not match the items listed on their selling guide. The reason I give two stars is that the ladies working there were very courteous and friendly. read more
