You are at the mercy of the buyer when you step foot in here. If they are in a bad mood or generally disinterested in you (for example, you walk in and no one greets you which happens almost every time) expect to be disappointed when your clothing is reviewed. They don't even have the basic decency to refold your items before shoving them back into the bag. Today I was also told to shop around or wait in the corner while they were looking through my stuff - in the past, the experience was interactive. You could ask questions, or ask to be let in on what they were choosing and how much it would be listed for. Now, or maybe it was up to the discretion of this particular buyer, they do not what you involved whatsoever. I leave feeling defeated and like I wasted a massive portion of my day EVERY SINGLE TIME. I have bought and sold at this location. I brought in a huge bag of great, name brand stuff for $20. Okay.... whatever. So today I brought in another bag hoping to cash it in for at LEAST $40.. nope. This is the best crossroads in LA. I've been to the one I'm Santa Monica, the one in east Hollywood, the one in weho, etc. this is definitely the best out of all four of them. I have yet to check out the studio city and Atwater location (they might be good because they are nice areas) but if you're in the mid LA area go here! It's right on Melrose so the people that sell their clothes are the same people that shop on Melrose so it's cute clothes from boutiques and other really nice stores. The best part is they don't mark up the prices that much. It's still the same general range for clothing. At least for men it is. Which is about the $15-$40 range. Really gross place to sell. I only sold heels I no longer wear or love. They will underprice high end names if you allow them. I chose not to sell my best stuff there. But good to sell crappier clothes you have no intention of keeping but are still trendy. Plus the people they hire there are slow and incompetent. I brought in a bag to sell, which included Gitman Vintage shirts (retails 195) some J.Crew, Gant and other men's Shirts with a pair of Made and crafted "stay skinny" Italian made jeans and shopped around while the buyer did her thing. I was disappointed​ in the selection at this location as I usually get store credit and wind up buying something but this store was filled with crap. Literally​ stuff I would find at Goodwill. When the buyer (some plain looking lady with a fake English​ accent) waved me over she proceeded to say she found my clothes to difficult to sell and passed on everything. I'm not sure what she is looking for but it seems this location only buys junky crap. The worst part is she didn't​ fold my stuff back up like I had it but balled it up and shoved it back in the bag so now its all wrinkled. I think I'm done with this company overall. read more

I stripped half my closet and decided to take it into Crossroads for resale. Bags and bags of designer jeans, dresses, shirts, hoodies, even shoes. I signed in and was informed that there was a 20-30 minute wait. No big deal, tons of neat stuff to look at. I asked the attendant if I could place my bags by the window while I browse. I looked at a rack, turned around and the bags were GONE. SOMEONE ACTUALLY STOLE MY BAGS UNDER THE ATTENDANT'S NOSE AND OUT OF THE STORE. I questioned the other attendants and was ignored at first until I started raising my voice. They then brought an assistant manager out that was clueless of what to do. She advised that I leave and go down the the police station. ARE YOU NUTS? CALL THE POLICE RIGHT NOW. This happened on YOUR PREMISES. So, she so graciously got them on the phone and handed it over to me. I don't know what I'm appalled by more, losing $1000s of dollars of clothes or the horrendous way that it was handled (or lack there of) at the location. read more

I was very disappointed with my experience at this Crossroads location. I usually have very friendly and professional buyers when I go to sell my clothes at the Studio City and Santa Monica locations. Unfortunately this was not the case here. The buyer was very rude and dismissive (I don't know her name but she worked on a Saturday morning). She couldn't even muster up the strength to give a polite smile or say 'thank you'. More importantly she was a terrible buyer - pricing high quality items including Christian Dior shoes at $20 and then throwing them in a bin. Haven't been to this store in months and months but a purchase was made on my card yesterday. Apparently it was a transaction from 5 months ago that the manager "FORCED THROUGH" which also coincided with my banking calling me this morning to report fraudulent charges on my account! The manager was very understanding and apologetic but unfortunately, it does not excuse the company for violating consumer privacy and compromising my credit account! 1. I checked my bank details and the transaction was processed and paid for in September- meaning I was DOUBLE CHARGED 2. Apparently my credit number was entered manually which meant my credit card number was printed/and or recorded (this was originally was a SWIPED transaction) 3. Surprise, surprise my card was charged various times within the course of 30 minutes the morning after this transaction was re-processed. "See you at the Crossroads, Crossroads"..... This Crossroads lures you in with promises of cash for your fashionable used clothing, especially around the holidays, yet they are extremely selective. You feel discouraged when most of your large pile of once fashion-forward, but now obsolete clothes is rejected. Maybe you get $20 or $30. You start to exit, then decide to browse for a minute. "Ooo what a cute BCBG dress, it still has the tags! Only $25? Sold!"...and so it continues until you end up leaving much poorer than expected. A couple of my favorite items I've bought here (Forever 21 dress, Bebe top) had little stains that couldn't be removed, which is frustrating. I went to sell few of my clothes from Zara, h&m and j.Crew..(2 white blazers, mens jeans from j. Crew, mens button up plaid shirt from j. I like getting to trade my old stuff for "new" treasure at Crossroads! TIPS: Iron and wash(that should be a no-brainer, don't use CR as your laundromat, pleeeease!) your clothes before trying to sell... It makes a difference. Try to trade...it's the point of the damn store, good for the environment (for all you green wanna-bes), and let's face it: you won't get rich selling old clothes. Ask them what they are buying for the season. You can call the store in advance and they have a recording that will let you know what they are looking for. This is helpful for amateur sellers getting frustrated when they wont buy your halter top in November... It's not you, it's them. Or it might be your pit stains... Plus! When shopping at Crossroads, you feel like you have found something one-of-a-kind! Even if someone else may have worn it first. It's not theirs now! Muah ahaha!!! Give the shoes a try! Do the sniff check. And if you are going to wear any of your feet finds without socks, I would recommend pulling out the insole, buying one of those Dr. Scholls ones from Target, and replacing it. The clothes they try to sell there are TRASH. I saw a consistent price of 28+ dollars for jeans that were all mediocre or missing buttons. When I tried to sell my nice jackets & shoes they didn't accept not a thing. I was surprised but I went straight over to Buffalo Exchange & they were able to take a couple items for decent price. GO THERE. plus there was a racist couple before me talking about every person of color that walked by. read more

I generally have a slow, steady hartbeat and great blood pressure. Thump. Thump. Thump. Slosh (I have a little hole in my heart that causes the discrepancy; I think it's an appropriate metaphor for my life). All of that nice regularity changes when I walk into Crossroads. In fact, as soon as I get within a block radius, the inner drumbeat becomes louder, my step quickens, my eyes brighten. By the time I step through the door my face is suffused in a rosy flush and I have that determined, going in for the kill look I get when I see guys who look like Anthony Bourdain or when a nice cheese plate is placed in front of me. God, I love Crossroads. Not only have they purchased a variety of my own clothes (I have my secret favorite buyer; he likes my style and I like his) but I always, always find something marvellous and magical there. A James Perse silk shift dress that skims my body and looks fantastic. A Missoni jacket that people can't refrain from touching. A pair of Yves St. Laurent evening shoes so sexy that...well, what happens at Miss Kitty Night at Dragonfly stays at Miss Kitty Night at Dragonfly. I no longer feel the need to shop for clothing at Nordstrom's, Macy's, or any of the other hugely overpriced stores. My aversion to wearing something used has also disappeared. The folks at Crossroads are selective, and most of the clothes are in good shape (and sometimes never worn, with labels still attached). I just wash my items or get them dry-cleaned as soon as I can, and then sit back and enjoy the compliments. I also prefer their music soundtrack to the truly unbearable and LOUD LOUD LOUD music played across the street at Wasteland. If I want to listen to some inarticulate goober guy shouting sexist obscenities, I'll turn on Don Imus, okay? Anyway, don't go to Crossroads if you know alot about fashion. Just stay away. I'm a tough Italian chick and WILL put up my dukes to fight over that Vivienne Westwood skirt. And I will win. read more

On a general note, I'd have to say that my favorite thing about the Crossroads Trading Company is that you never know what you're gonna find. No goodwill rummage crap here since they're actually really picky about what they purchase to sell in store... Crossroads also has lower price points than any other buy.sell.trade that I've seen so far! This is a pretty good resale shop, you just have to be prepared to go through a lot of crap in order to find a decent find. The only thing is that you have to be careful not to get scammed. I've been going to all the Crossroads in the LA area (the Santa Monica, Melrose, West Hollywood, Ventura, and now the Silver Lake one) for about 6 or 7 years now, and I have to say that slowly the prices are going up, but the quality and styles of the clothes have been going down. For instance I saw a LAMB clutch at Loehmans for $145 (brand new), yet I saw the exact same one at Crossroads for over $200 (used). If you're in the mood for some bargain hunting, I'd go check it out. My favorites are the Santa Monica, West Hollywood, and Melrose (in that order). I give it 3 stars because their inventory used to be so much better. This review is specifically for selling to Crossroads and Chloe, the buyer. I didn't have too much of a great experience last time selling because the buyer I got (a guy who was there today as well) went through my stuff like it was all junk and would just look at the name tags and separate them that way. He went through 4-5 LUGGAGES of clothing while she went through my ONE bag. He barely even looked at the clothes he went through, to be really honest. Today was the complete contrary. Chloe not only took her time, but she was very friendly, informative, and honest. She would separate the clothing as pass and keep, and she would explain why she would have to pass on certain pieces, which were understandable. Luckily, I looked at the guide they have online and brought clothes based on that, and she strictly took pieces that are in. I decided to get cash for the things she kept, and $40 is a steal for clothing that I won't use again. I am very satisfied with Chloe's customer service, and eye for fashion. Not only did she make my experience great, but she was just as friendly, and informative to the three women before me. Friendly service is ALWAYS worth the wait. If your attempting to sell anything, you'll be made to feel as if your burdening the employees, however they do make mild efforts to initiate small talk as they reject 95% of the clothes you intended on selling. Beats goodwill with selection, but still a bit pricy. Could get lucky with some great items that you'd only find on ebay for 4x the asking price. I always find something fun in a Crossroads store and this location was no different. I like Crossroads over places like Goodwill because they don't just take anything and they sell it for cheap. I love how organized the store is, with dresses, shirts, shoes, and pants all organized by gender and color. It makes finding things so much easier! There's also a bunch of dressing rooms if you need to try a new find on and plenty of helpful sales associates roaming. I don't know about selling stuff here yourself, but if you're in the market for some fun cheap clothes, Crossroads is a good place to shop. read more

This place is right around the corner from my house so I stop in quite a bit. Eh.... I have found a couple nice pairs of pants here.... most of the jeans are a size 3 lately though - it's hard to find size 7 ! Wtf!? Maybe I'm a cheapskate but I think they are pretty expensive. And employees are not very friendly.... not hateful or snobby necessarily - just very indifferent. Selling clothes here - they are very picky - if you don't have top notch stuff, don't even bother. I took 3 bags of stuff today and they bought nothing....Buffalo Exchange is a little better but not much. On this day selling was a waste of my time - First I went to the Crossroads on Santa Monica but could find no parking so I left - then came to this Crossroads where they bought nothing, then went to Buffalo Exchange where they bought two items for $7 but then I got a $58 ticket - carried my clothes in and when i came out to pay the meter - ticket...booo! Awesome clothes collection but hard to trade in clothes. I bought the following 1. A really sweet long sleeved shirt from hong kong. It has paint-splatter patterns on it and a frizzy collar. Definitely very unique. - $22 2. A T-shirt that says "espana" with a futbol emblem and belgium flag (weird combination!). -$10.50. Since this place has a lot of cool stuff, don't count on being able to sell a lot of your clothes here. I brought over 5 shirts to trade and they were ALL rejected. I've been going here for at least 5 years. I love this place, it's the essence of LA fashion at affordable price for us labelwhores. I've sold at least 100 pieces this store. You have the option of getting 35% cash of the resell value or 50% credit. With great finds, most ppl opt for the 50% credit. I've once purchased a pair of Louis vuitton shoes that were limited edition and only available through preorders. I tried to get my hands on them but couldn't and literally went into shock that I've found theses shoes 6 months after they came out for $300 when retail was $700+. Snatched up them, wore them for 2 years keeping them in pristine condition and finally sold these for $480 on ebay. talk about OMG! Anyways off tangent, LA is a tough place to live in, fashion comes in and out faster than your paycheck. If you like to wear things once or twice, this is the place to go especially if its designers. Go on the weekdays if possible to sell your items otherwise you'll be waiting for a good half hour. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't bring in your deodorant stained t shirts and crappy shit thinking the buyers at crossroads are stupid enough to buy your clothes. If goodwill won't transport your clothes to 3rd world countries, don't even think other ppl will buy your foul smelling clothes. Common courtesy, wash all your clothes before selling them. read more

The first time it happened I didn't post about it because I felt it was too embarrassing for the store and was trying to be nice, but at this point it is a health concern. They have also done nothing but give me a 10% off one item coupon for the hassle. Wow.. Thanks... Anyway twice I have been there and went to try on bottoms the first time was pants second time shorts and both times there was old stained female discharge in the clothes. See picture below.... Twice this happened to me. Something you would expect to NEVER happen. And both times the manager lady with short pixie blonde hair seems not bothered by it at all. Crossroads is where you come when you just can't bare to throw something in the Goodwill pile. I never expect even half the value of what I originally paid, but it's better than going through the hassle of posting it on EBay. I've had pretty good luck with selling most of my items here. Bringing seasonal items like dresses in summer and cardigans/jackets in fall helps, as well as making sure nothing is stained. The staff is actually pretty nice, which makes the disappointment of their low bid just a little easier to deal with. I don't shop here because I've never had luck with their selection, but the prices are pretty decent. The shop itself is pretty clean and organized. I'd definitely take Crossroads over Buffalo or anywhere else. read more

There are several of these stores, I like the two in West Hollywood. It's a great place to find cool t-shirts, lightly worn stuff, and they have plenty of brand new stuff from up and coming designers (guessing it's items that didn't sell at sample sales) that is probably 80% off the price of what you'd find at Nordstrom or other upscale place. Note on selling: It's really arbitrary what they buy and what they don't. I brought 8 items to Studio City, got rejected on every single one. Took the same items to Weho and they bought four of them. Selling to crossroads is a great way to earn some store credit by getting rid of stuff you don't wear to buy new stuff you will wear. It's NOT a place to expect a good return on what you paid retail even if you barely wore something. So if you spent $150 on jeans you don't wear or that don't fit anymore, you may get enough store credit to buy a nice shirt you will wear. read more

As in the world of dating and relationships, I believe finding treasures at second hand stores is all about timing. Sometimes they're stocked, sometimes not. So in Crossroad's defense, I give it 3 stars b/c I DID see some super cute purses, although I also saw some fake Louis.... I only looked through the dresses, shirts, purses, and shoes. Not bad, not great either. At one point I looked at a small clutch purse and thought, "this is cute" and I noticed the ForeverLove tag still on it and thought "great! it's new" and then looked at the Crossroads price tag for $10! I seriously think it's cheaper at ForeverLove! I was turned off at that point. I felt like their dress section was a little outdated, like stuff that I would throw out of my closet and donate to Good Will. Lots of giant sized heels and women's shoes or super small shoes, nothing in the middle unfortunately. Not a lot of size small dresses either. A lot of the dresses that I carefully looked at had stains on them, so I noted to myself they are not as careful in their clothing selection process as BE. Also, I thought it was a bit expensive (everything I looked at was generally above $25), but I figured it was higher overhead from being smack dab in the middle of trendy Melrose. Get money back for your clothes! Crossroads is not only great for shopping, but also for selling back clothes that you never wear. So for those of us who are shopaholics, have simply way tooooo many outfits in our wardrobe, and have finally managed to conduct a spring cleaning whereby we have been able to eliminate some outfits permanently from our closets, go to Crossroards before you throw it out or donate it. Maybe they'll take some of our fashionable attire and give us some money back. Pro: Get money back for money spent. They love labels, so if you are a brand-name shopper who is ready to get rid of some of your outfits, then go to Crossroads because they will greet your clothing with open arms. If you don't have time to wait, I think they have a drop-off option and swing by later that day or the next day to see how much they took or rejected (I don't know the details about it, so ask). Cons: It's not that easy because Crossroads is super picky. They will only take clothes that are in season and currently fashionable. A lot of people like to try to get their money back, so when you go, you will wait. Some people come with literally several bags of luggage full of clothes. I've also seen garbage bags full of clothes. So you need to wait until all articles have been sorted through before it is your turn. Granted, it's time consuming, but maybe you'll get some money in return. Frankly, it's a toss up though because you may spend lots of time there and have nothing that they find worthy. So if that's the case, just go to The Salvation Army or the Goodwill Donation Center. It's easy and you'll feel good about yourself afterwards :) read more

I am a regular shopper at the Studio City location, but getting tired of the attitude problem in there, thought I would try this location and see how it is...well it's worse! I mean seriously can you even say hello to customers when they walk in the door?? And that was the manager!! These girls seem to be under the impression they are on Rodeo drive (Not as if that gives anyone the right to be bitchy but still). The attitude is RIDICULOUS and can be quite uncomfortable at times! The manager didn't give me the "half-off" stamped price on at least 3 of my items, and of course they refuse to be accountable or apologize...I generally leave there feeling really irritated, but the awesome finds soon cheer me up. I will say the last time I went there, there was a young guy working, and he was friendly and smiling...but the rest suck! I'm usually skeptical about stores like Crossroads that buy and sell used clothing - but mostly because I have the hardest time finding my damned size at these types of places. Fortunately for me, Crossroads continually boasts the freshest styles in all the sizes day in and day out. I came here the other week to do some pre-Coachella shopping and was pleasantly surprised with my finds of the day - 5 cute tank tops, totaling less than $30. Oh, yeah - I was stoked! I love the whole Buffalo Exchange/Crossroads resale thing, so make sure to stop by here every time. There's something about this store, though, that just rubs me the wrong way. Although it's a big store and not very crowded, I always feel like I'm either A) in the way or B) being watched by the salespeople. The organization in this store is... confusing. I've been here countless times and have so much trouble browsing!... maybe due in part to the being watched/in the way feeling. I've only bought something once -- a cute BCBG dress for $15, a good deal. Obviously, this is rare. I've tried on a bunch of stuff, but looking at the price tag... no thank you. There were these two tops I really liked... they were a litte older, the material was frayed and pilling -- I figured they would be cheap... no such luck! Some of the prices at this location are a bit outrageous. My friend bought a dress to wear to a wedding for $35 and, after trying it on at home, discovered a big rip at the waist. This is also the only resale store where my fiance hasn't been able to find anything for himself. He's never even found anything he likes enough to try on and says the men's selection is pretty poor and badly organized. They do have a nice selection of designer and brand name clothes; the prices for these items are clearly justified. The price tag for the no-name items, however, doesn't seem to be much less. This review is solely for buying, not selling, at this Crossroads location. This store, comparatively speaking, is one of the best locations to go to look for great deals. I'm accustomed to shopping at the Crossroads locations in San Francisco, and not surprisingly, you can find a lot more designer and high-end brands here. The condition of clothes that are re-sold here is generally better than those sold at surrounding locations (and especially in San Francisco, where it seems they buy a lot more junk). I came here on two separate occasions with the sole purpose of buying clothes for work and left with some GREAT, great deals. A lot of the clothing here still has tags and appears to be brand new. As with any Crossroads, there is a certain amount of sifting and searching involved, but the Melrose Crossroads has some real gems. read more

usually takes me a long time to decide on a item, and feel indecisive and leave, and a store member decides to follow me next door to posers and ask to check my bag because i have something of theirs.
