They have been helpful by guiding the novice players that sometimes come with me in the procedures of the game so everyone has fun regardless of experience. In addition to the room manager there is always an employee there to assist players with chips, food runs, beverages etc... The owner goes the distance by providing complimentary beverages and often a great spread of food and snacks. Often there are trays of fajitas, lasagna or sandwiches for the members. Rounderz seems to be the place for late night poker action. As games break up in other places in town, everyone heads to Rounderz. I love this as I am a night owl! Other than poker there are many computer based slot style games which seem to be quite popular although that is not my thing so I am not reviewing that. In Corpus Christi there are several really nice cardrooms. The great thing is that it is well worth the drive for out-of-towners to come and visit our beautiful city and enjoy some of our wonderful poker games.

I showed up to play poker, and they kick off the action with a rinky dink $20 re-buy tournament to promote action, and boy does it. After the brief tourney, cash games started and the action was very good. The owners of the establishment were polite and made sure I was comfortable at all times, since it was obvious I was not a local and even more obvious that I was the youngest one in the room by about 20 years. Rows were very close together and not much leg room. The sound in the theater was WAY too loud. I know it's the experience but even my husband said it was loud. The 3D glasses were too big for me and hurt my ears. For the price of movie tickets these days... you'd think they could spruce up the theater.

Service has always been good and the food I've had in the past has been solid. My most recent visit was this past Saturday. We arrived about thirty minutes early like they recommend. One thing I really enjoy here is the pre-show. They play old trailers and clips, sometimes in their original languages, and it adds a real nostalgia factor for film nerds like me. We had already eaten lunch before the movie so we didn't order any full meals, but their popcorn is excellent. The real butter makes a difference. Ordering was simple through the phone system at the table. For refills or additional items, you fill out the little paper cards and the servers quietly grab them during the movie. Everything came out quickly and the staff stayed friendly and efficient the whole time. The place is always clean and well taken care of. The staff seem to always be in good spirits, which really adds to the overall experience. The seats are the more traditional movie theater style, so if you're used to the newer reclining seats that many theaters have now, that might take a little adjustment. Overall it's a great and unique movie experience. It's also nice not being packed into a loud theater. I really appreciate their strict no-talking and no-cell-phone policy too. It makes it much easier to actually enjoy the film.

No corporate gloss, no mass-production... just honest craft. Every pour had its own personality, balanced, thoughtfully made, and confidently expressive of the wine. You can tell the winemaker is hands-on; they know their grapes and can tell the story behind each wine without turning it into a lecture. The tasting experience was warm, unrushed, and genuine, more like being welcomed into someone's passion than being "processed" through another tasting bar. We left with bottles we're genuinely excited to open, and that's the best sign. Small owner-run wineries like this are the soul of wine.
