We want to see everything, but only deep dive into things that catch our interest. Unfortunately, almost everything catches our interest making our visits too lengthy for other family members. This visit was especially exciting for us. We are both Texas Master Naturalists with the Alamo Area chapter. The CEO of the museum is also a member and one of our dear friends. We hoped to see her, but since our original plans got messed up by family interference, we were there on a Saturday. Believe it or not, our friend had come in to catch up on some work. She met with us, got us oriented, and set us free to explore her wonderful museum. We liked all of the exhibits. I especially enjoyed the section on the wildlife of the area. One night at our rental, I swore I heard a pack of coyotes nearby. The museum verified that they are alive and well on Mustang Island. We also enjoyed the Kenedy collection. The whole era of riverboat captains on the Rio Grande and the way many of them morphed into prominent ranchers excites me. It was fun to take a deep dive into one of the key ranch families of the time. The museum has a large children's section with fun activities, but we skipped it since my grandson wasn't with us. Now I wish I had at least looked at it. If you haven't been to the museum, skip the beach one afternoon next time you are in the area and visit. It is a great place.

He loved the science area as well as the cool rocks and minerals exhibits. The spacious rooms offered room to wander and made you feel free to take your time reading all the information provided at each stop. No need to rush here and it wasn't a mad house full of kids on a field trip, thankfully. It's a great place to visit indoors when there is bad weather out!

The dealers are professional and help add to the fun and social vibe of the club. They have been helpful by guiding the novice players that sometimes come with me in the procedures of the game so everyone has fun regardless of experience. In addition to the room manager there is always an employee there to assist players with chips, food runs, beverages etc... The owner goes the distance by providing complimentary beverages and often a great spread of food and snacks. Often there are trays of fajitas, lasagna or sandwiches for the members. Rounderz seems to be the place for late night poker action. As games break up in other places in town, everyone heads to Rounderz. I love this as I am a night owl! Other than poker there are many computer based slot style games which seem to be quite popular although that is not my thing so I am not reviewing that. In Corpus Christi there are several really nice cardrooms. The great thing is that it is well worth the drive for out-of-towners to come and visit our beautiful city and enjoy some of our wonderful poker games.

There are various slot-like machines on computers that pay out at random intervals, an event that patrons get very excited for, and also some other alternative gambling arcade-like games to play if slots are not your speed. I showed up to play poker, and they kick off the action with a rinky dink $20 re-buy tournament to promote action, and boy does it. After the brief tourney, cash games started and the action was very good. The owners of the establishment were polite and made sure I was comfortable at all times, since it was obvious I was not a local and even more obvious that I was the youngest one in the room by about 20 years. All in all, a solid place in my book and I will certainly return.

I'm part of the Cinemark Club and bought tickets online so scanning at the podium was easy. The not so great: Theater in disrepair. This has to be an old theater as the seats were not recliners. Rows were very close together and not much leg room. The sound in the theater was WAY too loud. I know it's the experience but even my husband said it was loud. The 3D glasses were too big for me and hurt my ears. For the price of movie tickets these days... you'd think they could spruce up the theater.

We had a great instructor, Ms. Celeste. She was very patient with my Aunt, who was a little needy. Employees all wore masks! I loved the entire place, very clean and spacious. The staff member traced my photo and it was fair. My friends dog photo was sketched by the staff member and it measured about 4x3 inches on a 16x20 inch canvas. The sketch was a joke. We had 4 photos, if the staff was unable to sketch the chosen photo, admit it. It was horrible. It looked like a poor tracing of the photo. I'm adding a cropped photo of the canvas. Waste of money and waste of time. We had to wait for help and paint. Just to be clear there were only a total of 3 people, plus 2 walk-ins.

It was easy to get around in the museum and the items were well marked. In some cases, I found it would have been nice to have more of the back story.
