We had gotten her from a rescue, but had a roller coaster experience (they were very back and forth) that left a bad taste in our mouths. We decided to go to a breeder and get another dachshund, this time a cream color. After some extensive research, I found Crown Dachshunds. Crown Dachshunds specializes in shaded cream and pale cream dachshunds. This kind of color is actually pretty difficult to find I think! It's very unusual. They're located in Riverside, so it wouldn't be that far of a drive for us (as we live in San Diego). I sent Susan a message through her website and she got back to me immediately. After planning which litter we were going to put a deposit down for, she and her husband invited us to their home to see Bailey and Cotton - their two doxies! Their dogs are SO well taken care of. Healthy fur, very happy and active, and trained well. They were very well mannered, Bailey showed us a lot of her cool tricks, and both were total cuddlebugs! My fiance and I loved it. Mocha is very independent, very active, and not a huge cuddler, so we were hoping that her sister would be able to complement that. Susan made sure that we received updates when the puppies were born, sent us pictures every week, and it was so wonderful to see Latte get bigger and bigger! When we came to pick up Latte, they had already gotten the dogs to eat solids and trained them to use pee pads. Since then, Latte has grown up with no issues whatsoever. I have raised several long haired dachshunds over the last 30 years and this has been by far the best experience ever.Crown Dachshunds does their due diligence in training and providing lots of love and nurturing to their puppies. I know this because we brought home our little Gracie home at 8 weeks and she is the sweetest, loving and precious little girl. she is nearly fully potty trained on puppy pads which is just phenomenal with this breed as they can be pretty stubborn. I literally just tap and point at her puppy pad and she goes. As far as the process Crown Dachshund will allow you to pay over time while you wait for your puppy after the initial $1000 deposit. I had heard horror stories about breeders and puppy mills. To say the least NONE of them are true about Crown Dachshunds. Over and over I say thanks for having our paths cross. Cammy (Street Fighter II, The New Challengers) came home as a timid 2.75 lb peanut dog. Two months later she is easily one of my greatest blessings and she loves her blood cousin Link so much.
