We wanted to do a large renovation and spoke to a number of GCs (about 10 in total). After getting quotes ranging from $70K to $160K based on incredibly opaque price transparency, we ultimately decided to hire subcontractors separately (GCs make car salesmen look like amateurs). These guys truly, truly went above and beyond and trust me, we are not easily satisfied. Without going into details, I will be happy to give personal recommendations to anyone who messages me.

Contractors and trade should be honest from the start, beginning with the initial estimate. Other red flags (in retrospect) worth mentioning that are consistent with other recent reviews: -The employee who provided an estimate showed up over an hour before the scheduled time, examined our garage framing from only the outside, and did not return to finish the estimate an hour later as promised. -LBW scheduled our job a week later than initially agreed. -The lead asked open ended questions about the scope of the job upon arrival at the job, making it unclear whether he knew what work needed to be completed. As pleasant as the lead and office administrator were, it feels like we were hustled. If you engage with LBW, make sure you need the work!

Holly called me back same day and the estimate was scheduled for the next day. The gentleman who came for the estimate arrived on time and was extremely professional. He clearly understood what needed to be done for each project we needed. Being the fairly new owners of the home, I wasn't sure if the previous owners had left some paint behind, so I requested the estimate include the cost if we had the paint, as well as the cost if they needed to provide the paint. He said I'd have an invoice by end of day. Nine days later I still hadn't received an invoice, and because I'd initially been impressed by the company, I called to follow up. Holly apologized and said she'd send it over immediately, and she did. However, the invoice was missing almost half the projects we'd discussed and only included the cost if we provided paint. I contacted her back pointing out the missing items, and received another estimate. The second estimate still had missing items. After a couple of emails and five updated estimates later the info still wasn't correct. We received five estimates from five different companies for our job and it was coming down to Mr Fixit Fast and another company. We ultimately went with the other company, even though they charged $600 more. I really wanted it to work with Mr Fixit Fast, and maybe another time we'll give them a call and try again, but for this project we didn't believe the work we needed done would actually get done because the estimates kept leaving them off and the costs kept changing.

He provided a quote which I felt was reasonable and scheduled a repair for the next week. The day of the repair came and there was a downpour. This would affect part of the repair process, so I called and spoke with Holly. She seemed unaware of what exactly was going on and was unsure if the repair man would be coming or not. This struck me as very strange, but asked if she could find out. How could she not know? In any case, I get a call from the handyman about 2 hours after he was supposed to be there and we agreed to reschedule for the next week..exactly ONE week later. Here is the reason for this ONE star review: the next week rolls around and it is 9am..when he is supposed to be at my house. Nothing. I wait patiently...all the way until NOON...after noon I had heard nothing and decided to give them a call. Once again, I spoke with Holly who had no idea what was going on. She said she would call the handyman. About 40 minutes later the handyman calls apologizing claiming he forgot that today was my appointment. He said he forgot to write it down the last time we spoke and asked me to call Holly to reschedule. What's worse? Holly the owner NEVER called me. To this day, I have yet to hear a word from her. Not so much as an apology or anything. Not a peep. I did a little checking and it seems she contracts repair work out to independent contractors. Whatever the case, there is a serious disconnect between her and the repairmen she contracts with. And to make it worse she doesn't seem concerned with following through with her clients and making sure they are taken care of. Brad arrived on time and clearly explained each step of the roof evaluation. We received a detailed report with photos and explanations the same day, followed by a prompt price quote. During our phone discussion, Brad reviewed the findings, explained available roofing options, shingle types, and described the TX Proof hail-rated roof they offer. He also noted that their team can assist with HOA approvals if needed. Overall, Brad was professional, informative, and a great representative of High Performance Roofing.

There were some problems with sub contractors, but the owners tried to make those things right. 5 years later, it feels like every time we turn around we find another problem. Not cosmetic, but problems with the quality of work. Just a few problems have been trim that didn't get put back up under low windows, shelves mounted with the screws in the wrong place, pebbles left under the flooring, I can go on and on. Our most recent was that a shower door just fell off. As my husband looked at it to put it back up, he found that they had mounted the heavy glass door into the shower surround with nothing behind it for the screws to hold to except some glue!!! Efforts to repair this problem found that they mounted the whole shower surround with nothing behind it but the studs. No shower board, Sheetrock or anything!!! The subcontractors cut corners everywhere possible and no one monitored the quality of work. Use the utmost caution if you hire this company and monitor EVERYTHING because they won't.

His workers came over and did a good job in repairing and replacing a lot of items in our kitchen cabinets that needed to be repaired due to mitigation. I signed under duress as ne promised to make things right and shook my hand. I fell for the "I already paid the subcontractors" I trusted him to be man of his word. Nope Then there is a Jeremy Darling saying that I insult them. Since when has a fair evaluation ever been insulting? 98% is excellent so if you want to risk 2% to be questionable aesthetically, structurally and "is this even legal" they'll probably be ok In my case that 2% is a big deal. They are extremely high priced. So with the price tag comes the expectation of awesome high end results. Not my experience.
