One of The best fried chicken around our city! Crown Fried chicken has been around for quite a long time and they never disappoint! The service is quick but it can get very busy at times bc of their reputation of having some of the best fried chicken around! There is availability in parking spaces and it is across the street from Lincoln High School. I have heard people mentioning that it can be a little sketchy around this area, but, never have I encountered any problems. Just mind your business, get that Yummy Fried Chicken and you're good! Usually, when I order from here, it's early evening hours and weekends early hours before 5pm and the line can be pretty long but it's not that bad of a wait. Best fried chicken spot in Jersey City, and in the words of the great Rick Ross, "You ain't even kno it". It's tucked away in one of Jersey City's many "up and coming" neighborhoods (i.e. the type that many will lock their doors and run red lights while driving through at night). It's a shame because like many places in JC, the neighborhood is gritty but you won't be subject to random acts of violence (I think). Ok maybe the 3" bulletproof plexiglass guarding the cashiers might tell you otherwise. But still, it's worth a trip out here! The chicken is delicious and super cheap, and the hot sauce packets they give out are phenomenal. There's a constant flux of customers coming in and out so they always have chicken ready for your consumption. I've always been meaning to try something else here, but damn the chicken is so good that I always wind up going for that. People claim to really love they're food but don't believe the hype. They get a ton of business from people all over and make lots of money which means that they have way more than enough cash to clean up their business. It's unfortunate but most of the people who buy their food willingly ignore the uncleanness of the place just because they enjoy the taste of some of their foods. I'm not one of those people who's willing to sacrifice cleanness for taste, it's very unsanitary and unsafe health-wise. When I first read the reviews for this restaurant, it sounded like an intimidating spot where I would probably not want to go on my own. That said, I made my husband accompany me there over the weekend. It was a sunny day and we were there around 4:30pm. It didn't seem crowded, they had at least two people on the registers and a few people in the back. The smell of the chicken is enough to make your stomach grumble and your mouth water. We ordered a box to share, with a side of mashed potatoes and a side of potato wedges. It came with a lot of rolls which we didn't touch, they aren't made on site, and we didn't really need more carbs with this meal, and you definitely get what you pay for. The serving sizes are large. The chicken didn't disappoint. The outside was perfectly crispy, the seasoning was delicious, it had a great bite to it, and the chicken was perfectly tender and juicy. The mashed potatoes were nothing special but they hit the spot, the potato wedges were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and very delicious. If you are looking for some good comfort food, look no further. We've had other fried chicken in the neighborhood, and it doesn't even compare. So why 4 stars? Despite the number of employees working and the lack of customers waiting, it took a while to get our food, but when we did get it, it was delicious. I had food from Crown chicken on Monday and the next day I didn't feel like myself. I went to the bathroom a couple of times and my stomach felt queasy. I went out that night and was farting quite a few times accompanied by a sick sour stomach. The night before I had 4 pieces of their chicken, fries, 2 biscuits and a small sweet potato pie. The chicken seemed cooked but the drumstick had a little pink by the bone. Also very salty. I will never eat there again. The breast was a little dry also. This feeling lasted about 3 days and I feel a bit better now but not 100%. Avoid this place as I have also heard that they have rats running around on occasion. Yuck! read more

This place is so dangerous on the late night and the cops aren't going to assist you with any trouble you may encounter with the local residents/customers. You will get jacked (robbed/accosted) if you get caught slipping on Communipaw and Crescent Aves once the skreet (intended misspelling) lights are on. The ambience is reminiscent of Mary J Blige's Burger King Commercial. The chicken is crispy, Eyetalian Cheeseburger kicks Pauly in the Walnuts. The ribs are the bomb diggity. This was actually my first time here. When you first walk in, the smell of fried chicken clutters the room. Your first thought is you're about to get your hands on the world's best fried chicken, and you start getting excited to place an order. I got a 4 pcs, with mac & cheese. I thought yummy.
