Stopped in for linner with a friend on a Monday. There was 4-5 other groups and a handful of people at the bar, lending to a pleasant buzz to go with the festive decor. Got their pot pie fries from their seasonal menu, and it was HUGE but delicious. A little light on salt, but the filling was delish. This one will be quick, Stopped in on a random weekday for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Went on a Tuesday shortly after they opened. They were empty so I sat at the bar. After days of eating bagels, pizzas, and sandwiches on a work trip I was wanting something a little different and possibly with veggies. I was staying at a hotel nearby searching yelp of course and the Würstbar was the perfect choice for a switch up! I thought about dining in to try their beers, but I read the food can take a bit and I'm not really a fan of dining alone for long periods of time. I decided to order this through door dash to relax and wait (I could have easily walked). I got the country roads Vermont cheddar brat with apple fennel slaw, jalapeño aioli, and chives and also the Brussels sprouts as my side (found in starters). Even though the brats have a slightly high price tag (around $17) I found the quality and portion size worth the price! Also the bread the brat was in was a pleasant surprise. It reminded me of elevated Hawaiian rolls because of its hint of sweet plus butter on toasted goodness! I was expecting the apple slaw to be a little sweeter but to be fair they didn't specify the apple type. The jalapeño aioli also was not spicy to me but had a really good flavor, in fact all the flavors played well together. Now the Brussels.... Whew!!!! I ate half of them before even taking a bite of the brat! The spicy Thai peanut sauce had some heat to it but was sooo good! I mopped up as much as I could of it! A friend of mine dragged me to jersey city as there was a goth party in the area,but first she wanted to take me to her fav food spot as she used to live in jersey city.They have a happy hour section from 4-7 which is awesome & we did make it on time for it,but the happy hour didn't have much variety of food.I looked at the other side of the menu & all the foods were regular prices.Those should be included in the happy hour not just what they have already.I ended up getting the haus poutine as I saw on the reviews it's the best.It was good although I'm not a fan of gravy & there should be choices for sauce toppings.Also the food should have something else instead of just a bunch of fries,cheese & gravy.Add some type of chopped up meat or ground beef or chopped up bacon which is why the 4 stars on food.The service was great,the whole restaurant is clean,a lot of table seatings & I would go back again for the non happy hour foods. read more

I want to downgrade my previous review from a few years ago. I've since gone to Wurstbar several times since then and EVERY. SINGLE. TIME Wurstbar takes what seems to be an unreasonably long time to be able to make our food. I usually shrug it off, but my latest visit is the reason I will never return to Wurstbar again. When my partner and I walked in on a random Monday, we advised the host that we wanted to make an order to go. So we looked at the menus, figured out what we wanted, and then no one took our order for a good several minutes as we stood at the bar. So we called the bartender to ask if he could take our order, he nodded, took our order and put it through their computer, and then we were advised that it would "take about 45 minutes because they're busy." Not a problem. We said we'd be back and we walked around the block until our 45 minutes were up. I came back in thinking the food would at least almost be ready. After walking in, I was not greeted by the staff for some time. Then I had to stop an employee to ask if I could inquire about my take out order. They asked for my name and I said that our order was made in the restaurant, and not using an app. The bartender confirmed and mentioned our order was listed under "TO GO". Another ten minutes pass, and I had to stop another employee and inquired again about my order. Another 15 minutes pass, and I had to stop the same employee, to which he responded "it's not ready" and I explain that I've been waiting an additional 20 minutes than when I was told my order would be done. He kind of just shrugged and walked to serve another party. Then another 10 minutes pass, then another 10 minutes, and I have to stop ANOTHER employee and ask about my order. Five minutes later he comes out of the kitchen and hands me my order and all he says is "here." My order was not an order for a large group, it was for a party of two and it only included THREE ITEMS - Haus Poutine, Maui Bow Wowie (which changed their ingredients), and Rancho Grande. Maybe there were a lot of customers, but I cannot fathom why it would take TWO HOURS to make these three items. As a worker, you should have a much better understanding of how long food will take to be made. If you are off by 10-20 minutes, I can understand, but to be off by a whole hour? And these are sausages with a few ingredients and fries with gravy and cheese. Maybe I am missing something, but these dishes are not something that would take long to make. And to add to this, I had to stop every front house employee that evening to ask about my order (some of them on more than one occasion), and not even a single apology from any of them for wasting my time. Two stars for the food because I enjoyed the taste and quality of food, but not good enough to endure that again. read more

Wurstbar has got to be one of the best happy hour places in all of Jersey City (or in the greater NYC area, dare I say). Their happy hour goes from 4-7pm Monday-Friday, which is great within itself. The drafts during happy hour are $5 which is such a steal. For this particular happy hour, I got the Czech Yourself, which was a Haus Kalibasa and Green State Lager all for $10. The Haus Kalibasa was incredible and the pairing of these two were perfect. I also decided to get the house fries with a side of chipotle mayo (as recommended to me by the kind server). All I can say is YUM! Of course, I came here on a beautiful day and got to enjoy my food and drinks on the outdoor patio, which it all the better. Immediately upon opening the packaging for the sandwiches we noticed a little bit of oil on top of the bun. No big deal. But then we picked our sandwiches up and saw that the entire sandwich was absolutely drenched in oil. The chicken was also such a cheap cut of poultry that the sandwich just didn't taste right at all. The fries were soggy and incredibly oily as well. A bit too sweet for my liking but nice to sip on with a dense meal like this. I actually really enjoyed the Haus Wurst! The sweet roll was nice and fresh and they didn't skimp out on the toppings. I don't eat pork so I had limited options here. They were out of the chicken wurst so I opted for the beef frank. The Beef Frank needed to be a lot thicker and meatier than how it is. In a wurst like this, it easily gets lost among the other ingredients which was a bit disappointing. The haus cut fries in the Brotherly Love Loaded Fries were crispy, thick, and delicious. I'm usually not a big fan of cheese curds but these were great; slightly melty, not salty, and had a good texture. My only problem here is there was not enough Philly steak. There were more caramelized onions than steak which again got lost for me. Good try, all in all! If I find myself back here, I'd try other items on their menu. read more

Interestingly enough, I was craving a hot dog recently and when searching the area, we found Wurstbar which is a much fancier option since their dogs are dressed up! We decided to order delivery and opted to try the following: Picnic Table (Beef Frank, Creamy Coleslaw, Onion Frizzle, BBQ Sauce), Maui Bow Wowie (Beef Frank, bacon, pineapple jalapeño relish, chipotle mayo, cilantro) and The Puppy Dog ( kids menu), mostly because I wanted to ensure that my craving was met and this was the "traditional American" hot dog on their menu. For delivery, the quality translated well and the Puppy Dog was a decent portion size for a kids menu item (there were fries as well). The Puppy Dog hit the craving I was having so I was super satisfied with that! The Maui Bow Wowie was pretty unique and we liked the different flavors overall. My one takeaway is that while I am a fan of BBQ sauce, I didn't love it in the picnic table hot dog so I'd probably opt for a different one next time. Pictures of the place look chill so we'd definitely be interested in having their food at the restaurant in the future! First off great location and great drinks. I'm a big cider fan and they have plenty to pick from. I got the lost tropic cider and the pineapple cider. Both were good, but I preferred the lost tropic. The food was good, the fries were awesome, I wish you got at least two sauces. We did get two fries so we got ranch and garlic aioli, which we both enjoyed. The burger and chicken sandwich were okay, will have to try the dogs next time, since that's what they're known for. Some long wooden tables for groups or sharing and some 4 seater tables. My group of 4 started with the beer hall pretzel (large but a little dry), fried cheese curds (not a lot of cheese inside - they were basically hollow), and Brussels sprouts (delicious but small portion). Came with a party of 4 right as they opened at Noon on a Thursday day trip and was very pleasantly surprised by Wurstbar. Love the interior decor and it was easily one of the cooler bars I have ever visited. Our bartender Shawn was accommodating and polite, provided samples and was in general just pleasant. The food was delicious, I had been craving a good sausage and this place delivered, the Rancho Grande was flavorful and there were plenty of toppings, it was a little bit messy but I would come back and try more of these "fancy" preparations. Cheese curds were crispy and delicious and the chipotle aoli was good but the gochujang ginger aoli was outstanding and ended up on just about everything we ate. The cider list is excellent and having three options on draft was great, had never tried the Albany made Nine Pin before and the mulled cranberry was excellent.
