It was towards the end of the picking season, so at first the berries seemed scarce, but once you push aside the bushes, some prime strawberries appear. They came to $4.25 a quart ( you pay after you are finished) .... we also indulged in some milkshake treats after spending some time picking in the sun. (they were out of straws, but I improvised) I chose a Raspberry one, it hit the spot! Next up, cherry picking!

Walking into the 'meat shed' one finds a more gentle world with often a crockpot of samples to try, coffee, just picked vegetables and always an interesting conversation with Darryl on food and health, often accompanied with a book recommendation. Anyone who has not raised their own animals for food nor run their own farm with the constant need for upkeep and money, repairing damage from storms and following strict rules for quality practices can critique his older equipment but I wouldn't trade the experience. A small town family with a small town farm who is concerned over the care and processing of their product will continue to have my vote. Have had his beef, pork, sausage, ham, chickens, eggs and have been very pleased. On those two days he is open, it is busy with customers who have been going there for many years, just engage one of them and they will all tell you their favorites.

Come get a bite at one of the food trucks or dessert vendors, order a drink from one of the many wine/liquor/mead vendors selling drinks by the glass and sit with a view of the lake while enjoying local music. There were also crafters, artists and I got to feed an alpaca! There are no resale vendors so this truly felt home made and local. There was even a farm that was selling dinner kits with everything you needed including the steak! This really was the ideal way to unwind after a long week. I will be back to stay longer and take the house tour.

On my most recent visit I purchased a dog toy for my two golden retrievers. She made sure I knew that the toy had a 100% guarantee and I could return it if it got destroyed (which it has, so I'll be returning). Although their current selection was minimal due to the holidays, she informed me when they expected to have new items. I'll continue to shop here due to the great selection and service, only a local store can offer!
