I have purchased 2 cars through crown. Despite being a young driver, I have been treated just as my parents have here, and I appreciate that. Their vehicle service is great and they have a nice waiting room for clients to sit in while their vehicle is being taken care of. In addition to just changing your oil, they do an inspection of your vehicles alignment and other mechanical functions. Which is great because I know nothing about cars, and want to make sure my car is going to last me several years. read more

My wife brought our RAV4 to Crown Toyota for a scheduled oil change, when she drove in to the bay area to drop off the car the service adviser told her "Oh I hear a ticking noise, you must have a torn boot" they quoted us $495.74 to replace the front boot on both sides. I made an appointment and I was told that I also needed both front Sway Bar Links replaced and that the boot comes with the Sway Bar Link as one unit (which is not true at all). So I dropped it off to have them take care of what needed to be done, later that day they call me and told me that they could not do the job because the parts was not OEM. I am glad they were not able to because I had a lift kit added. I picked up the RAV4, ordered the parts myself and had and went to an independent mechanic instead. To my surprise the mechanic called me and said that there were no torn boots, and the Sway Bar Links were in good shape. Nothing needed to be replaced. I had him check out the car from front to back and everything was good. I am very disappointed in Crown Toyota, I can't trust them with their service. read more

We had been searching for a while for a Buick Avenir with a stunning attitude. They had exactly what we wanted. The dealership itself is also the headquarters. The architecture, the whole layout, in fact, is exciting. It's got a Southern California style. Kind of homey; my wife and I used to live there. Then there is the salesman. Dominic was thorough, detailed, and, in particular, mellow. The next time we buy, I hope he's still there. He stayed on top of touch-up work the preppers missed. I was recently car shopping and found a car that I wanted to test drive at Crown Motors and was texting with one of the managers. He set up a test drive for me and I was there within the next hour. His sales associate was busy with another customer and allowed me to take the car on a test drive by myself (which I actually wanted) which made it a more laid back and less pressured experience. Once I was done, I got to spend time in the car, explore it, play around with it without feeling the pressure of an associate trying to upsell me and figure out what was making me want the car without a lot of pressure. At the end of the day, I did sit down to discuss the options of purchasing the car and they worked with me to find the best option financially to trade in my current car, get the best value for the car I wanted and set up the time for me to pick up the car. The financing department was kind and not pushy, I was felt like they treated me as an adult vs just trying to pull one over on me! I really appreciated their style of selling me a car. While Holland is not within a short distance for me to have them be my "dealership" for regular maintenance, they have sister dealerships that I can work with to have maintenance done on my car if needed, which I really appreciate. read more

Crown put in 3 different starters last year and IF that 3rd one caused a problem, then the flywheel torque converter was worn down and needed to be replaced at $3100. No one I told that to said it made sense. So a year later the starter was acting up again, took it elsewhere for a diagnosis....they said I had a faulty starter and my flywheel was fine. They fixed it in 2 hours. At Crown, I had to drop it off overnight and pick it up at the end of the next day because they take it to an independent mechanic to fix and charge up to $1000. extra. So they put in a faulty starter, knowing it would fail and then set it up for an expensive fix. Outrageous. The mechanic at Crown also said I'd need new brake pads in April at my next oil change, but April's mechanic said my brakes were fine and where did I get them fixed. I didn't. He was confused but this cleared things up for me. There is someone back there I don't trust anymore. My brother (a master mechanic told me to take it to a Honda dealer. I said, This IS the Honda dealer........ ..... .... oh.) I'm so disappointed in their lack of ethics and honesty. I would never recommend them to anyone I cared about. read more

Buyer beware! Service falls apart after the sale. I went to Crown service to get my 2nd oil change and tire rotation. I mentioned I had some terrible road noise and would like it investigated. I was informed there was nothing wrong with my car or tires. I left and it was still a problem. I went back for a 3rd oil change and tire rotation, and they then tell me I need ALL NEW TIRES. I asked why it was not addressed at my last appointment, and he states, " we only had an express technician working on your car and he must have missed it". What???? Got my new tires and they state "we recommend a front-end alignment after new tires are put on" ($188). I went to a front-end clinic ($55) he tells me front end is spot on - no charge have a great day. I wouldn't trust anything the service department says! PS-the service coordinator called me to schedule a recall and she insisted I have my CarPlay looked at because she could not hear me clearly on the Bluetooth. But, of course "there is nothing wrong with my CarPlay". read more

The scheduling process was smooth besides long time on hold, 3 people picked up and told me to continue to hold or they'd "try another line". Day of appointment / oil change , I get there & they tell me they don't do oil changes on jeeps, that I would need to take it to another crown motors location on central ave.... Ok? Annoying because they could've told me in advance where to go when making my appointment, when I specifically called this location 196 reagent blvd. Then I get to the central location at 2:55 pm & THEY DONT START MY OIL CHANGE TIL 3:45 !!!!!! My " APPOINTMENT " was at 3pm. THREE PM. Unbelievable, won't be back. Bad buisness. read more

DO NOT buy a car from this place. I bought one and within the first 2 months the clutch went out (4000 dollar repair) now the oil filter housing blew out and dump every drop of oil all over the road (another 2000 dollar repair) and mind you not a single one of these repairs are covered under the warrantee that they present as such a gift they were able to swing for me to purchase. Their people act like they are your absolute best friends, like they doing everything above and beyond to help you while selling you garbage shined up. II've been to Crown Motors once before and what happened then, repeated itself today. When calling Mazda service initially, I was placed on hold for nearly 10 minutes to reschedule a service appointment to later that same day. I bit my tongue as this was the first service I was to have at Crown. The service itself was fine, nothing unique per se. Today, called to cancel an oil change, on hold for 9 minutes with 3 people picking up the phone, 2 saying nothing, 1 saying something inaudible and placed back on hold. When someone finally answered, I mentioned how long I was on hold, and was told, "we only have 2 schedulers". Now, I don't know what that means to the volume of calls, length of a call, how that equates to wait time, etc., after all, why would I? This was very poor customer service, I don't want to hear their problems, just apologize, relate, and get it done. However, it turned out to be significant push back from the scheduler. I will never go back to Crown if they don't understand the basics of service and of the value of people's time. read more

I bought a vehicle from them in october, I had it three days and noticed that there were transmission issues, not to mention they gave me a 3-month $3,000 mile warranty plus I purchased another one, they tried to say that none of the warranties would cover this, they ended up putting in a new transmission, that ended up having problems so they had to put in another transmission, plus the brakes and rotors were rusted out from sitting so long because there was a recall on this car prior to me getting it, also found a huge rodents nest in the engine, when I got it back at the end of February, again after purchasing in October I noticed that there was still transmission issues now they are refusing to fix that and now there is a huge oil leak from the engine that they are refusing to cover, they have known about every issue since plus needing an alignment since day one that they have not done, after talking to the service manager he said that they already did the brakes and rotors that they weren't going to do anything else, his name is John he is the service manager at crown motors on regency avenue in Holland Michigan I have since sent messages to the GM waiting on a response for him, I have also sent a message to 13 on my side, because I don't believe after financing $16,000 and getting two different warranties that I should have this much problem when I haven't even drove the car two and a half months read more

Everytime I get my car fixed here it's a horrible experience. They always say there are so many things that need to be fixed which is not right because one of the things was brand new before I brought it in. I just recently brought my car in for a leak and they charged 1,400 and "fixed" it but the day after I picked it up the leak was back leaking the exact same amount as before. I brought my car back and they told me they fixed the wrong thing and they found a pinhole so they tried charging me $500 more for fixing what was actually wrong with it. ( The part only cost them $30 so charging 400 some for labor that should have been fixed the first time) That is for sure the last time I'm taking my car there, and I will definitely never buy a car from them again. I have a bad experience every time, I just didn't leave a review til now. I'm guessing all of the good reviews are from friends and family. read more

I recently leased 2 vehicles from Crown. The first was a non-event and the sales team was more-or-less responsive. The second more expensive vehicle was not what I'd expect after purchasing 2 vehicles in a 5 week window. The new car arrived without a working second key, the license plate didn't have the recreation passport although we requested it, the dealership failed to follow up with Honda Finance and I ended up paying for 2 cars at the same time. I made multiple calls to the team and was treated like an inconvenience. I guess I should have observed the red flags. The carpeted floor similar to when my dad got his 1985 Oldsmobile, the lack of a follow up asking how the car was performing and most alarmingly no purchase survey from Honda Corporate. I recently got the oil changed in my Honda Civic at a service station that I've been using for years. They informed me that my skid plate was extremely difficult to remove because the screws that were there were too tight, and in other places the screws were missing so zip-ties were used. I was confused because I always do my oil changes there, however, it was pointed out that the sticker on my windshield was from Crown Motors because they offered a "special" rate for an oil change so I took advantage of it. I called them to correct the problem with the skid plate and was told that they use zip-ties when they don't have the hardware. First of all, why wouldn't a dealership have the basic hardware, and why wouldn't they tell me if they didn't? I was told to make an appointment which would cost $50-$60 for parts/labor. Why am I paying for their mistake? I will not go back. read more

I brought my civic in to have the tire sensor checked because the sensor kept turning on. I took it in three times and each time they said it was fine, but, before I would get home the sensor would come back on. The third time I brought it in, they "rotated" the tires but said the sensor and tires were fine. Again, on the way home the sensor came back on. So, I then decided to take it to Fox Honda, 45 minutes away and where I bought the civic. Not only did they find the problem, a damaged tire that could not be repaired and had a bad seal, but they ordered the tire and gave me a loaner car. Fox Honda went above and beyond to fix my car and listen to my concerns. Crowne motor had my car three times and didn't catch that the tire was damaged and needed to be replaced. Fox Honda diagnosed it on the first try. Never again will I take my Honda to Crowne. read more

Very poor service advisor. You explain the trouble and Marcus doesn't write down what you said. I have a New CR-V 2022, been in several times with multiple trouble with the computer system. Driving on the highway cruise control system stopped working, code inoperable code lane departure cruise control system inoperable. Blind spot detection system code inoperable. Comes back on happening frequently. Marcus claims that I must have turned it off. They said it's working now, not what he wrote on service paperwork, the explanation of the trouble I have Marcus neglected to list the trouble with the computer system. Phone keeps getting pushed out of system, been reset several times, Marcus claims it's because of the Waze app on the phone. BS is what I get from him. The worst service advisor I have ever talked with in my 52 years in the auto repair business. Let's see if they fix the trouble with the computer system, I'm not holding my breath. read more

We bought a Certified Honda Pilot from here at the end of January. The whole process of buying the vehicle was pretty good, can't complain on the purchasing of it. However once we drove off the lot is when the problems started. Two weeks after purchasing the BRAKE light kept coming on while driving, not the one that there is something wrong with the brakes but the light that comes on when you are getting to close to something. Every time that the light came on, there was nothing even close to the vehicle. After it happening numerous times, Crown finally said we needed to bring it in to get it looked at. So that is what we did, they called saying that the sensors on the front of the vehicle needed to get adjusted, so they did that. That fixed the problem. Forward to May, the Emissions System Problem and check engine light came on. Again after numerous times of the lighting coming on, they suggest we take it in, so we did. They ran the code and it said what the problem was. They said that they couldn't fix it because according to Honda a part has to "fail" the test before they fix the problem. Even though the light telling us there is a problem going on, they couldn't do anything. The service rep called with the news, in which Marcus, was very unpleasant to talk with, telling me that sometimes the customer wants something wrong with their vehicle and get upset when there isn't anything wrong with it. We had some very heated conversations with numerous people at Crown over this. They told us we must have had bad gas, that it was a fluke thing and the car must have fixed itself. Needless to say we left there with the intention of getting a second opinion. Before leaving they said that if the light comes back on, to bring it back and they will fix it. They also mentioned that the vehicle might need a transmission flush, that bad transmission fluid can cause this. When we bought the vehicle, we also bought an extended warranty, in which the transmission flush wasn't covered. They were constantly trying not to fix the problem, just put a band-aid on it. While on the way home from Crown, the Emissions System Problem and check engine light came back on, not even 10 mins after leaving. So the next day I went back and guess what, all the people we had talked to, since I wanted to show them the light was back on, weren't there. We told them that they should buy the vehicle back, that they have sold us a lemon. They wouldn't even buy it back!! So sad that they won't even stand behind one of their Certified Honda vehicles! Supposedly in order for a vehicle to get certified, it goes through a intensive inspection, one in which I don't think happened. Let just say, the vehicle has been nothing a LEMON. We will NEVER NEVER buy from them again, nor will we be suggesting anyone we know to buy from there. read more

took my grand Cherokee in for 3 areas to get checked after the service tech "inspected" the vehicle the price was 5400.00 with numerous other things added to the invoice. I had them check the trans cooler lines-yep needed changed, check 2 electric connectors "it would take to long to sodder those wires so we will change out the whole wiring harness- 650+ dollars, 3rd item checked a vibration at 50-60mph that was because the drive shaft, transfer case are leaking and need replacemen. I called another dealership send them the invoice found out that they are charging the highest rate per hour for labor in the entire area including Grand Rapids, added items air filter 60.00 plus 21 to change it I have a KN filter, replace all fluids - never asked them to check it because it was just done. I was also informed by the other dealership that they are making up parts 20% from book price. DO not go here they will ripe you off..... read more

During the test drive of my 2008 Honda Accord, the salesperson and I noticed a rattle in the rear of the car. The salesperson, Lee (Edson?), promised my wife and me that if we were to buy the car, they would have it fixed before we picked it up. Some time after purchasing the car while I was driving it, I noticed the exact same rattle. When I called to report it, Lee said that because we purchased the car so quickly, they didn't have time to fix the rattle- which is a direct contradiction to what was promised before purchase. Issue 2: A month after selling Crown Motors our 2012 Hyundai Genesis, I received a phone call at my place of employment. This call was from a prospective buyer of the car, who had some questions about the vehicle's history. (Let it be noted that I never approved the release of any of my personal information to Crown for any purpose). After talking with me on the phone for 5 minutes, the man interested in the car decided to purchase the car. I called Crown and talked to Lee about this. He talked to the man who sold the Hyundai, who has been in the business for 23 years, and assured me that they would never have released that information without contacting me first. This, to me, seemed suspicious and we were sure to remove all documents and effects containing personal information from the vehicle before selling it to Crown. On the same note, after surfacing this 'confidentiality conflict', I looked into the glove box of the 08 Accord to find all the personal information of the previous owner- name and home address, showing that they are not taking any reasonable measures to ensure the safety and privacy of previous vehicle owners. read more

We had our 2008 Enclave towed to the dealership with a bad transmission early afternoon 8/16. The dealership did not contact us regarding the status of our vehicle, it took several attempts at contact on my part to determine status. In the meantime, we needed a vehicle to substitute for our Enclave. Thinking that our repair and a car rental was covered under the extended warranty we purchased, and having received no consultation from the service department and nowhere to direct questions, we rented a medium vehicle. When we turned in our receipt for reimbursement on the rental, we were told that we would not be reimbursed because the transmission was fixed under a special GM warranty and GM Would not reimburse for the rental because we didn't rent a GM vehicle. Had we known the repair was covered by GM and that we needed to rent a GM we would have, but no one helped us with this. When we left the Enclave for the service, it was never mentioned to us that the repair might be covered by GM. In that void of information we assumed that if the repair was covered, it would be through the extended warranty. Either GM or Crown Mortors owes us a cash reimbursement for the cost of our rental (not half the amount in a service credit that was offered) because we were not provided with information. read more

The sales person I worked with was very helpful. We were able to negotiate the price and the deal over the phone before I came in to the dealership since it is a new vehicle and I know all the options on the car. The entire buying process was pleasant until the very end. We had to sit through the process of declining all the warranties such as extending the 3/36 bumper to bumper to 7/100 power train for $1,875. We declined it of course since I have never made a warranty claim on any of the vehicles I have ever owned. The manager dealing with us was rude. We can tell from his tone, and his face, and his body language. He didn't even say thank you for buying a $25k car from them, nor was there even a handshake. He left a bad taste in my mouth. Crown Motors will not be my first choice in the future. read more

Getting a new vehicle should be a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, my experience with Crown Motors was a nightmare. The only good thing was that the price was right. After that, it was horrible. First, I was told that there was a good chance that they could get the HR-V I wanted in red. Turned out note to be true and things only got worse. I wanted the custom floor mats and cargo tray and discussed this with the sales rep and was certain that the cost of these was included. On the Friday before I was to pick up the vehicle the sales rep, Chase, called me and said that the mats would be an extra $270 (this is an estimate) and that I needed to pay this. He later called me and told me that the registration transfer fee was also not included and that I would have to pay an additional $16.00. Once again I thought that this was included in the deal. Same on me for trusting the sales rep and not getting all these details in writing. Chase pressured me to pick the car up by the end of the month. He told me that Honda incentives were not going to good after June 30. I knew this was not true and that Honda has extended the incentives until July 6. I mentioned this to Chase and he said he wasn't aware of this. He later told me that in fact the incentives were extended. I would think that the sales rep should be aware of the details of an incentive and not have to get this information from a customer. We set up an appointment for Monday, June 29 to pick up the vehicle. I wanted to pick it up at 10:00 am. and once again Chase said this would not work. He had a sales meeting so we agreed to meet at 11:00 am. Chase showed me a few things on the vehicle but never mentioned anything about how to change some of the settings, did not explain the paddle shift switches, did not verify that there was a spare tire and jack, and did not show me the odometer reading. We spent about 5 minutes going over things. Chase also told me that the floor mats and cargo liner had not come in (even though I told him I wanted these when we made the deal on the vehicle). I actually think he forgot to order them. I then had to meet with the finance person and this is where things got even worse. Even though I had an appointment for 11:00 am I did not get into the finance guys office until 2:00 pm. I just sat and waited and waited and waited. Waited almost 3 hours. We went through the agreement and, after listening to him trying to sell me some insurance I did not want, I signed the necessary forms including the odometer reading form that states the car had 139 miles on it. I got into the car to drive home and noticed that the odometer read 189 miles. I was going to go back in and point this out and I wish I would have, However, I was extremely frustrated and thought I might say something I might regret. I just drove home. My question for everyone at Crown Motors is who is checking the odometers? Also, why wasn't this reviewed when Chase was going over things with me? Just a recommendation for Crown, why don't you have a check list. I drove home and a couple of days later I was showing a friend the vehicle and he noticed some adhesive substance on several areas. I was told the car was prepped, buffed and waxed. My opinion is that the person who is doing this needs some addition training. I was able to get the adhesive off. Chase also delivered the floor mats and cargo liner to my house a few days later. I have purchased many vehicles over my lifetime. Never have I ever had such a frustrating experience. read more

In June of 2022 I went into Crown Motors and purchased a vehicle. Was so proud of myself as I felt I did good and didn't need a guy to go with me. Man was I wrong an hour after pickup check engine light, tires sensors came on but I was out of town due to basketball later that night noticed no headlights ‍ they gave me the run around for days after. Finally I called the manager and he told me to take it to the shop my brother in law helped and called the manager and explained that the car hadn't worked after I got and the manager had them work on it. Got it back and then again check engine kept happening Crown then had the vehicle for the first 90 days. I fought them to just give me a different car as this isn't safe for myself nor my kids and that was pointless. They wanted a $2000 restocking fee. Finally got it back in October 2022 ran okay until January 2023 had to take it back to them and again given the run around and they said my extended warranty wouldn't cover the new areas that needed fixing. They hadn't even called my extended warranty, because I called my extend warranty and they said it was covered item. I decided to take it to another dealership maker if the vehicle Ford who took my extended warranty and they fixed the other problem earlier February but now again I am back due to the same issue ‍ moral of the story don't go to CROWN MOTORS. I haven't even had the vehicle for an entire year and I have been in more loaners then anything. Ford has taken the vehicle for repairs now because Crown wouldn't call the insurance. I'm a single mom of two and wanting money out of pocket isn't helpful. read more

Horrible service department-- broke front panel which has taken over 2 months for them to get the part to replace

Purchased and paid cash for a 2017 Promaster. Immediately noticed a strong radiator smell in the cabin area. The microphone didn't work either. I called, they asked me to bring it in. I drove over an hour to get there. I nearly had to beg to have them look at it. Was told that it was covered under the extended warranty that I purchased when I purchased the vehicle and it would be a $100 deductible. I didn't feel we should have to pay the deductible the vehicle was like that when I purchased it. Also had it certified. When I took it into get an oil change at a competitor, every filter needed to be replaced and the oil was dirty. 2500 miles later after purchase? Yet I was told the vehicle had been serviced after I purchased it and before I picked it up. Was told by the service manager they would order the parts and call me when the parts came in. I called the service manager a week later to follow up - no return call. Called the next week left another message with the service manager-no return call. The third week I called again left a message for the service manager and then confirmed he still worked there - no return call to date. Great customer service when I was buying the vehicle. It stopped there. As the saying goes ' have a bad experience tell 10 people, they tell 10 people ...' If I could return the vehicle and purchase the same vehicle elsewhere I would do it in a heartbeat. It's no wonder their ratings are so horrible.
