My family an I were on our way up north to meet friends in from Japan, when my truck started acting up. We made it to Autozone off of Chicago Dr., an Troy Kragt, an Jon Nagelkirk, "store employees" were the best help anyone stranded could ask for. We were there still working on the vehicle when the store was closing. They allowed me to continue to use their loaner tools an before I knew it, Troy was turning wrenches with me! Troy an Jon both had been calling all over trying to find us a rental or hotel. I honestly don't know what my wife an 4 boys would have done without their help. My 4 young boys was offered drinks/snacks, which made things easier. We are from southern Indiana an travel regular. I've dealt with hundreds of parts stores in my day, but I've never had the help/ friendly service like they gave us! If all Autozone parts stores had a Troy an Jon, the others would be shut down. Not sure if this even matters to anyone or not, because I don't do reviews. Due to the superior service an help we received, I had to let the world know how GREAT of employees store # 2191 656 Chicago Dr., Holland Michigan has. My wife even said she'd call corp. an let them know how amazing they were to our family an I.If you know my wife, that speaks volume. We made it back home with safe an sound. Saturday afternoon. 5-8 people waiting. Two people in back stocking (or whatever they're doing). Clearly oblivious to their waiting customers. The workers were great, but management gets a FAIL. (And being understaffed doesn't appear to be an isolated situation). This surprises me considering all the other auto part store options in the area. read more

I went into the James Street store to return a new product. This had never been used but I didn't have a receipt because my husband won it in a drawing from one of AutoZone's corporate accounts. My husband works for an account that AutoZone is currently trying to do business with. He simply wanted to take this new item and exchange it for something else that he could use that cost more money and pay the upcharge. Although we didn't purchase this return item, someone did and it could be verified. This is clearly not a stolen item or a scam. I offered my identification and was willing to help do some digging to get some proof of purchase but the guy harassed me about company policy and having to do a forced return which he couldn't even do because it needed a manager so I waited for a manager. When I explained for the second time what was going on he said only the head store manager could help and he was out to lunch. My husband had already called ahead about this issue and I wasted my entire lunch time just to leave with the original return part. Not only did Autozone lose the upsale to another more expensive item, they lost a customer since I live close enough to walk, but worse yet the commercial account they were trying to get purchases from will also not purchase from them any longer. They have lost potentially thousands a year over a terrible "policy" that I know can be over written at manager's discression. This manager simply didn't want to deal with it. I never would have been treated this way at the competitors store which is where I will be sending all my business from now on. read more
