I was in Clermont visiting a friend of mine for a long weekend recently. He lives a couple of miles from The Crown so was already familiar with it. We ended up here 2 nights in a row. It's not a complicated concept here as everything dive bar is not only embraced, it is celebrated. The one rule they enforce (oddly) is no wearing of hats within the establishment. On my first night here, and first drink order, the bartender said I had to remove my hat. This big guy with a giant ZZ Top type beard is otherwise a very friendly and cordial guy who keeps the drinks flowing. There were a couple of pool tables and a jukebox, so I fired that up with some dollar bills to keep the soundtrack rocking. If I was a marketing wizard The Crown's slogan would be "Walk in, stagger out!" The only negative is the second hand smoke, but once you get your drink on it's barely noticeable. read more

If you grew up in a town that every neighborhood had a bar of its own this place will bring back those memories. You can smell the age and the 1.2 million packs of cigarettes smoked in this place. Decor that you think their calendar stopped in 1975. If you enjoy Smokey and that musty type smell to you bar experience this is up your alley. Crown has an old style bar feel with great service. I was too early to order food as the kitchen had not yet opened. However they did serve pizza which was very good. The tap offers good variety. I will be back and back often. read more

So we are locals, I have lived in minneola / clermont for 24 years. My girlfriend and I and my sister and brother in law decided to have dinner at the tiki bar and then head over to the crown to have some drinks and play some pool. First I want to make it clear that this establishment is an older looking dive bar with Christmas lights for the indoor lights. It smells like a dive bar should smell. It has 2 pool tables and 3 dart boards. Also I want to make it clear that it allows smoking on the inside. I know this sounds good so far, but here comes the part where it goes down hill. First and foremost you cannot wear a baseball hat inside this hole of a bar. I found this interesting because everyone in Florida wears a hat. They literally have a sign saying no hats. You can wear a t shirt, shorts and flip flops but no hats. Kind of stupid in my opinion. Next on the sign posted outside it states open until 2am 7 days a week. Definetly not the case. At 11:30 there was this bartender with a bald head and a beard yelling thru the bar - last call. Now we are playing pool, half way thru a game and we are thinking we had until 2am. So we proceed to get a round of drinks and at 11:45 he started yelling again- everybody drink up and leave. At 11:50 the same guy yelled at our table and said you at the pool table you have to leave. They literally cleared the bar at 11:50pm. We still had our drinks and were not able to finish our game of pool. I review establishments often, I really try to leave great reviews but whoever the owner is really needs to reconsider their rules as well as the people they hire. Most everyone working there especially the bald guy w the beard had such an air about them. I have owned a buisness for 34 years and I would never let any of my employees treat people, who are attempting to have a good time,, the way these guys acted. I will not be coming back to the crown. I highly suggest you do not go either. read more

I have driven by more times that i can count. So when a friend insisted on taking me there i was naturally a little hesitent to say the least. To my dismay laura and the rest of the staff and fellow patrons were all very pleasant. I deducted 1 star due to the fact that my drink cost$16.00. No matter I left a $10 tip. read more

Garbage restaurant with horrible food. Has a disgusting stench to the place too. Not worth your time or money.

This place is just awful. I was only there for a few minutes before a fight broke out. The smell of smoke, alcohol, and body odor was very overwhelming. I will never go there again. This place is the same as it was yrs. back. The staff and owners are horrible. They treat their regulars great and friendly and drive away any new people like they hate them or something. I guess the regulars tip them enough so they don't care about earning anymore money. The place is not clean and the crowd ranges from elderly to underage drinking on fake ids. It's so obvious the ones who are too young and are friends of the servers/owners. About twenty five years this was a fine dining room/bar that was well staffed and clean now it's a dump. read more

The bathrooms aren't too nice and the staff is hit-or-miss depending on their ever-changing mood, but its a good place to come with friends for a cheap drink and do some people watching. Honestly used to frequent the Crown a great deal and the service has just gone down hill. Lots of favoritism going down here as well as just general aggravation with being at work by the bartenders. If you aren't a middle aged drunk woman or an old lonely man then good luck getting any decent service here. They are selective with their clientele and don't seem too keen on expanding it any time soon. read more

This place is a dive! Bartenders are only nice to certain people and some think they are the owners. Some treat you like shit and the ones that were nice quit because of management. Last time I come in here. There has to be something better! Bartenders are very rude and management is terrible! All the good bartenders quit not just there but also at tiki bar in minneola! I have been here several times and I have to say the service is terrible. The bartender's are rude and slow. They are real quick with their friends or the regulars but they choose not to pay attention to anyone else. I was just there this past weekend and a female bartender practically picked a fight with me because I ordered a beer. And it is not a restaurant either. The bathrooms are dirty, it's stinks of stale cigarettes, and once again customer service here is non existent. read more

Everyone knows this is the shittiest bar in town. If it wasnt for the owner owning the building theyd be out of business a long time ago. Smells like puke, and you get lung cancer just by walking in. Not to mention you probably will get mouth herpes if you order anything not bottled as ive had lipstick marks on my glass on more than one occasion proving they arent clean either. We went in for drinks and they delivered but the place is def. a dive. Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. Alot of underage drinking at this place. It was so obvious. Didn't or even know they had food ...just beer in a bottle so they couldn't have screwed that up. Def. also a pick up joint.....just make sure the girl is at least eighteen.....alot of underage girls. read more
