I have never taken any type of self defenses or martial arts training before. In the beginning I was hesitant because as a female I was worried about getting injured or bruised. However the instructors are really thorough with their communications and making sure you are moving the techniques properly. Every other day they offer yoga, strike lab and krav classes. Self Defense at its finest! This was my first experience doing Krav Maga, although one of my best friends has been doing it for years. I was really impressed with the interactivity the teacher brought to the class. You are put in real situations, like "someone is pointing a gun at you." And you are given specific instructions on how to handle that situation. Our class was in how to handle a gun in your back. It was amazing. Your confidence soars, and you realize that there is a hefty science and practice to defending yourself. As someone who has been mugged at gunpoint, I can tell you that these skills could have really changed how things went. And although they don't recommend instigating violence, they do offer ways to protect yourself and defend yourself. I cannot recommend this type of class enough. Protect yourself! read more

Drove by this place every day on the way to work and have always wanted to try Krav Maga so I gave it a shot. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable, and you would be hard-pressed to find a tougher workout that also teaches real-world skills and applications. I'm trying to get back in shape after not having (seriously) worked out in years so my brothers and I signed up for Crucible Krav Maga. They offer a kettle bell class, and several different classes in addition to Krav Maga. The staff and owner are super nice, so I'm happy we made this choice. Crucible Krav Maga My oldest daughter took a women's self defense seminar that was given by Crucible Krav Maga. She enjoyed it and learned a great deal. She was so excited and motivated that she convinced me  to take a closer look. Both of my daughter started attending training and they were soon taking out baddies left and right. Then the men in black started calling and Dev Group(SEAL Team Six) and Delta Force were fighting over recruiting them to help out with black ops. Just kidding... But seriously as a parent of two girls in this day and age Mike and his other awesome instructors have taught my girls to understand that the world is great but it may not always be the safest place. He taught them to be aware of what is going on around them; how to react and defend themselves against larger and stronger opponents. They are also learning how to deal with armed opponents.  So I can't recommend Crucible Krav Maga enough. I only wish that they had started their Kids Classes sooner. If you are thinking about self defense, martial arts training, or are just looking for a great work out for, kids, women, or men Crucible Krav Maga is the place for you. read more

Excellent instruction in Krav Maga. Go yourself and send your spouse and teenagers to learn self-defense here. They also have kettlebell classes. Everything gets you in and keeps you in shape. The first problem I had with Crucible was the language. There were students as young as 13-14 in the class and the music that was played during warm-ups and drills were along the lines of Limp Bizkit, Korn, and Metallica and was laced with profanity. Granted, Krav is not your typical "discipline based" martial art like TaeKwonDo is but I believe a great sense of respect and discipline should be instilled when teaching impressionable minds. I know heavy music helps to get psyched up but the point of Krav is last resort survival and defense. Not go out and find someones face to break... Krav comes from the Holy Homeland of Jews and Christians and something about the F-bombs just rubbed me the wrong way. Just seemed disrespectful. (Even some of the Crucible Demo vids on youtube feature explicit language which I find to be unnecessary). Secondly, There were several students who just were not getting some of the moves and the instructors moved from one move/topic to another before everyone got down the previous one. My school of thought is take your time to make sure each student knows what they are doing before progressing. If not, you're only hurting them in the long run, especially if they need to use it to defend themselves. Instructors do go around during the drills and make corrections but I saw several instances where students were still confused or needed more repetition but we moved on regardless. Lastly, the warm up and stretches seemed abbreviated due to time constraints. Instructor had students hold some stretches for maybe 5 seconds before moving to the next and that was with semi-cold muscles. And after the brief warm up students were told to go as hard as they could without sacrificing form or safety. In my opinion, this is going to cause more injuries. Never stretch cold and never sacrifice a proper warmup. With that being said, everyone was friendly, the facility seemed more than adequate and the pricing is very reasonable compared to others so I'm not writing them off yet. I will give the class more time and see if there is improvement, or if I went on a bad night. read more

I really like this place and would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn a skill in addition to sweating. I came here for the kettlebells, so that's what this review is about. Training with kettlebells requires skill and attention to form. If you just want to zone out on a treadmill, this is not for you. The training will get you strong and well-conditioned. The instructors here have certifications from the two top kettlebell organizations and they care about teaching their students. The other thing I love about this place is that they're building a great community of people. The gym I went to before this one turned out to be pretty sleazy and not a place for women or families. But this is a clean place and scores very low on the lechery scale. From what I can tell, they're really good people who do business with honesty and integrity. I've gone to Crucible Krav Maga about half a dozen times now. So far I always leave sweaty, sore, and exhausted -- in the best way possible. Most evenings there are back-to-back classes: "Strike Lab" and "Krav Maga". I usually do both and stay for two hours. I learn a lot, have fun, and feel like I might actually be able to protect myself if I ever wind up in an unfortunate situation. That's saying a lot for me, because I'm a tiny, uncoordinated, little girl. The instructors always give each person useful feedback, there is a lot of opportunity for practice and personal instruction during classes, and everyone is super friendly. Classes all start off with a warm up and stretching, and sadly for me, are usually enough to get me wheezing (I have asthma, okay?!) and sweating. They then demonstrate the technique they'll teach you, break it down, make sure you understand it, and as you learn one thing, they add on and teach more and more until you've learned a combination of useful moves by the end of each class. Overall, Crucible Krav Maga offers a great workout while teaching potentially life-saving self-defense techniques. The memberships are month-to-month, so there's no long-term commitment. Students can get a special discount for their memberships. They'll even let you try it out for free. I highly recommend that everyone give it a try and see if it's for you. I LOVE coming here!!!! All of the teachers/trainers are so incredibly positive and encouraging! The owner, Mike, is even on site and trains us, too! I'm very overweight, uncoordinated, and have zero experience with this (I'm a huge nerd/geek) but I feel totally at home and welcome here. Everyone is super friendly! My girlfriend and I have been members of Crucible for going on 5 months, and we love it! Krav Maga is a self-defense system that is effective, realistic, and intuitive. One of the aspects I enjoy most about this school, is that the curriculum is varied each night. For instance, Monday may incorporate gun defense techniques (higher level), and Tuesday will focus on blocking defense techniques (more basic level), with this approach to Krav I am definitely engaged more, versus the same technique for days, weeks, or months in a row. While this may seem daunting to newer members, trust me, it's not. The instructors at Krav are very welcoming of people from all walks of life, and are patient and thorough when demonstrating techniques to newer and seasoned members alike. After practicing Krav Maga, you gain the confidence that you will be able to handle yourself in situations in which you have to defend yourself or a loved one. Kettle bell is an excellent supplement to the Krav class (one hour time slot before Krav). It is not set-up to wear you out before class (although you can if you want), but to help strengthen you, especially in the areas of the body that are typically more utilized in Krav techniques. I have been in martial arts for years and I have been to many martial arts schools in the DFW area (BJ, Muai Thai, Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido, and other good Krav Maga schools) with world renowned instructors and owners. I would rate this school as the best for a total experience; health, fitness, and self defence. It is my martial arts school of choice and this is the perfect school for the beginner to the expert. I have 3 black belts in various martial arts, trained with some of the "known top names - BJ, Muay Thai, etceteras" in martial arts in the DFW area, trained at other good Krav Maga schools, but consider this my home for martial arts. If you want a school that has it all (fitness and proven self-defense) and does not waste your time or give away worthless certificates and you want to be better when you finish training - this is the school to go to. Mike is a top instructor but does not carry a chip on his shoulder or a big ego, but helps students learn applicable self defense techniques. I highly recommend this school. Since the moment I walked through the door for my FREE TRIAL CLASS!!!, (I scheduled mine online) I was instantly sold by the actions of the instructors alongside the Men & Woman training. I have played sports my entire life and was looking for an alternative way to go about cardio and conditioning. (Old age creeps up pretty quickly.)I have found Crucible Krav Maga to be a great energy outlet, as well as a structured program for a new guy like myself to easily integrate into the training/classes. The ages can vary but DO NOT BE FOOLED. My first class I worked with a 5 year Veteran to Krav, and Today I trained with a kid who looks no older then 13. If you keep an open mind you will learn just as much from either encounter. I came in looking for a phenomenal workout, and left with much more. A place I can go to exert the weekly energy, WHILE educating myself with invaluable tools to protect myself & my family. I showed up and did a workout here, because I had heard about these classes, and the high energy, up tempo pace. I was looking for something different, and this was perfect for me. It was an intense workout, that was a lot of fun. It was unique in that I was learning something new, having a great time, and working my butt off. 3 things that don't often go together. I love this place. All of the trainers make me feel included and they actually care about my well-being. I started coming here because I was overweight and had fallen behind on my health after car wrecks. I feel at place in Krav Maga here despite being a young woman- it has really helped my confidence level and makes me feel more secure. Mike Coffin, Nolan and all the trainers are authentic patient people. I never feel like I am falling behind even though I am nowhere near fit.The Kettlebell instructor Sandy Burris is especially welcoming and really, really cares about her students. She is very educated in everything that could affect my progress and dedicates a lot of her time personalizing my workout for my level; she helps cater to my vegetarian diet and is always looking for ways to help me feel better on the inside and the outside. After only a few months I feel much more active, my mood is better, and I can already see a great change in my physique.
