Not only did they save us money on the resort they were able to bundle air and ground transportation making the deal unbeatable. My agent Taylor was very friendly and accommodating to my needs. Even with me being a seasoned traveler, Taylor gave me valuable insight about the area giving us tips about the airport, currency exchange and what to expect when we make our way to ground transportation. I will be recommending them to all my friends and family!!!

We came in wanting to go to Europe and after much back and forth, she suggested a resort in Costa Rica. All I can say is that her recommendation was spot on. We couldn't have picked a better location. (The Springs Resort, Arenal, Costa Rica) Karen set up all our travel transfers between resorts and to and from the airport. We also used another agent to book our cruise and it was smooth sailing with her. (No pun intended) We booked the cruise about 2 weeks before departing and it was so easy using the this Travel Agency. We got the best rate with them as well. Would highly recommend using Main Street Travel when booking any vacation rather than trying to do it on your own.

In the first itinerary provided after 3-4 weeks, the flights from TPA to LAX to AKL required me to arrive at LAX in time to catch a 10pm flight to AKL. The agent arranged a flight through IAD with a 49m stopover in IAD, which is much too short given that a missed flight would make me miss my international connection at LAX! I pointed out that it might be better to give me a few hours to transfer just to make sure that I don't miss the flight to LAX since that would cause a 1 day delay and would mess up all the arrangements in NZ. The agent actually said that 49 minutes was enough time. When I asked about flight delays, the agent said that would be a problem but never seemed to put 2 and 2 together. As if to confirm the incompetence in making flight arrangements, on the return, the agent had me on an Air NZ flight arriving AKL at 6:25pm and connecting to Air NZ international flight to LAX departing at 7:15pm, only 50 minutes later! The hotel reservations were equally bad. Every hotel was poorly rated on TripAdvisor compared to many other hotels in the same price range. And the chosen hotels were not conveniently located. To demonstrate the agency's overall incompetence, they arranged a scenic train from Christchurch to Blenheim, arriving a little before noon. They said there was no half-day tour of wine country and that I would have to stay over the next day for a full day tour, which would make my departure too late to fly back to the USA, requiring another night in the hotel. After I asked about taking a private tour, they said they found a 1/2 day tour starting at 1 pm. When I contacted a local NZ agent, he found multiple 1/2 day group tours! After I told them they had to do a much better job if they wanted to win my business. They asked me to pay $500 for their tour operator to continue working on my itinerary because I was also working with another local travel agent on the same tour. I told them that I was trying to find a good local agent and wanted to compare the service and quality provided on my NZ vacation since I was also planning trips to Greece and Hawaii in 2015. The manager of "Main Street Travel" said that they don't compete and said that I should go elsewhere. My recommendation is to avoid "Main Street Travel" at all costs.

I was a bit stressed as our package did not include airfare so I used my miles in taking care of that portion of it. Kudos to Jolene for her help in coordinating our schedule which included flights, train rides, and ground transportation so that our trip became a relative breeze. Now, regarding the package itself, let's just say, "Bucket list!" This was a trip of my dreams. Yes, there were bumps and bruises (literally) along the way, but, if you asked me to do this trip over again, I'd do it in a minute! Our tour leaders were well organized, respectful of our needs as travelers, mindful of our individual situations and preferences, and, most of all, caring about making our tour and experience of a lifetime. From the top notch accommodations, wonderful dining events, and unique cultural experiences, I couldn't ask for more. Our tour leaders, Ryan and Malaka, were gracious hosts and our tour leader was humorous and again mindful of our needs as travelers to a foreign country. Best description of my experience is that I can't wait to book another trip with them!
