I struggled between a 3 and a 4 for this one. A lot of the menu is frozen to fryer type of food you'd get at a bar. I opted for the chef salad and I would probably give it a 4 because while it is just a salad, they loaded it up with toppings so it wasn't primarily lettuce. We had the cheese curd appetizer and while good, it was pretty much frozen to fryer, nothing special. Probably what sealed the 3 for me was getting a slice of my son's pizza. The crust was crisp, which is definitely a positive, but there was so much cheese and sauce on it that the weight overcame one of the pieces while picking it up and it collapsed. We would not go out of our way to eat there again. Another interesting thing was all of the windows were taped over, it actually looked like it wasn't open. My husband and I stopped in to pick up a takeout pizza and ended up waiting more than 30 minutes for our order. While waiting, I ordered a beer and sat patiently until the pizza was finally ready. As we were leaving, my husband who recently had ACL surgery was moving carefully when the owner rushed past him and came directly toward me. I had forgotten I was still holding my beer when I stepped outside. Instead of simply reminding me that I couldn't take it outside, she aggressively snatched it from my hand and snapped, "Close my door, you're letting the cold air out." I understand the rule, but there was no reason to handle it that way. A polite reminder would have been enough. We were already feeling a little uncomfortable as the only black customers in an otherwise very white establishment, and this interaction only made the experience worse. First restaurant in Packwood so I was slightly shocked you needed to order at the counter and sit down. From Ohio we typically have waitresses. But the for only having to ladies working I got it. These 2 ladies rocked it. Youngins just don't wanna work anymore. Ran the counter, served the food, and made sure everyone was happy. The place was wide open and pretty cool. Even had a vintage video game room!!!!!!!! . (Always makes dad happy). It was clean and inviting. The pizza we got was great, had good crisp and perfect flop!!! The burger and Ruben were above par. Little worried about trying these small businesses in small mountain communities, but the reviews were good so we gave it a try. This place did not disappoint me. The first thing I noticed was the friendly cashier. I asked her about the sandwiches and she suggested the French dip, so I ordered one. Also got a pepperoni and cashews pizza and a garden salad. Not too many pizza places have cashews, so this was a pleasant surprise. The food was very good. The pizza crust tasted fresh and was soft and tender. I like my toppings on top and cheese on the bottom, but this place has cheese on top, but it was still pretty good. The French dip was nothing special but it was good with plenty of meat and au-jus sauce was good. So if you're in Packwood Washington, I recommend Cruiser's Pizza. read more

This is the only breakfast place we haven't tried yet in Packwood area. Hoping for a quick breakfast before leaving for Olympic Park, we came in around 10am. No wait so we got seated right away. They mainly serve pizza but they got some breakfast options available. Simple American breakfast to choose from which is not a problem until an Asian person like me comes in. Lol. Packwood has limited food options and definitely American cuisine most of the time. Haven't tried their pizzas here as every time we come back from hike they are already closed if not they already made the last call. But my husband came in one morning to grab breakfast (hash brown & egg sandwich in English muffin). Hash brown is real good and has a nice crisp on it and his sandwich is just mediocre on his palate. And with the price tag on it, no, he decided to just go somewhere else where his money will give justice on his meal. Friendly customer service and dining area is pretty spacious and clean. During summer they won't serve anything except for pizza and salad because according to them it's too hot in the kitchen and they cannot take any risk (they're talking about the possible fire it may occur). This is the only place in Packwood open for breakfast. I don't think they enjoy making breakfast. The service was really short. I sat down and there was zero acknowledgment for a good 5 minutes. Zero communication. I got my order in and they dropped a big ol insulated carafe of coffee on the table, that is the BEST feature of this place! I ordered the bacon and eggs. It took a good 30-45 min to come out, again with no communication. The bacon was pretty good and there was a lot of it. Everything else was mediocre. The hashbrowns were patty-style, very similar to what you might find at McDonald's. The eggs were luke warm in temperature. The toast was basic. I went to use the bathroom, and there was a very political, home-made sign on the women's bathroom yelling "WOMEN'S BATHROOM FOR WOMEN ONLY". (note: there wasn't a equivalent sign on on the men's restroom) Then I went to pay and there was a paragraph-long hand-made sign yelling about how terrible their customers are. We checked out cruisers on a holiday weekend after a long day of hiking in Mt Rainier- it was busy but not packed so we ordered at the counter and got a booth. The sandwiches came out pretty quickly and the personal pizza I got came out soon after (I am a pineapple on pizza fan so very thankful to find this as an option in Packwood!) The pizza was very good but the pricing was not. There are three different prices: online, the paper menu from the store the day before we ordered, the price they actually charged. Both the fries and pizza were upcharged from the menu they print and offer in the restaurant. They are also completely taking advantage with the price of boxes to go. Pizza was a decent size for the price but the fries should've been doubled for what they charged. They also quoted 20-25 mins and it was closer to 45. Their hours state that they open at 8 am but when we tried to go for breakfast, they weren't opening till 11. I came upon Cruisers Pizza spontaneously as I was driving through the small mountain town of Packwood, WA. I actually had just completed 4 full and adventurous days of hiking around Mount Rainier. Coming here to Packwood was my first opportunity in a short while to sort of freshen myself up and grab some real food. When I noticed this place, Cruisers Pizza, I just knew I could go for some homemade pizza. It's what I was craving. During this past year and summer of 2020 and during the pandemic...I showed up on an early Sunday afternoon and the place was pretty quiet. I was excited about this because it seemed like this town of Packwood was a popular tourist attraction and good for vacationers hanging out and frequenting the restaurants. So...a positive for me, it was quiet when I arrived. When stepping inside, at first I thought I should wait for a host to seat me, but that was not the case. Actually, what you do is look over the menu and when you're ready to order...head straight to the counter. Then after placing your order and paying, sit down at a table and they'll bring your pizza and or food out to you. And a very nice aspect was that they handed me a cup for fountain soda to fill up myself with unlimited refills! Btw, Cruisers is not just known for their pizzas. On the exterior sign outside the entrance, it also stated that they sell steaks and seafood in a "sports bar" atmosphere. Still...I had one thing on my mind and it was pizza all for myself, lol!! When I first glanced over the menu...they had 1 entire page dedicated specifically for their pizzas and a 2nd menu page for hamburgers, sandwiches, salads and entrees. So...basically, Cruisers is your typical All-American food kind of joint, but once again...and after all the hiking I did at Mount Rainier...I just craved a good, hot and fresh pizza. They sell their pies in 4 sizes: -Personal - $8.50 - Small - $13 - Medium - $15 - Large - $18 And...all these sizes and prices included 1 free topping. After the 1 free topping, it's extra $ for each additional topping depending upon the size you choose. For me being here alone, I knew I was hungrier than just ordering a personal pie. I asked the lady behind the counter how big a small pizza was and I believe she said 10 inches. So...that was good enough for me. The topping I chose was Canadian Bacon. It's not often you see Canadian Bacon as a topping for pizza parlors but when I noticed it here...I was sold. I love Canadian bacon! With my soda, tax and a few dollars for a tip I believe I spent about $18, which was fine. I was excited to be here and to satisfy my hiker hungriness after eating mostly cold cut sandwiches over my time hiking at Mount Rainier. I grabbed a table, filled up my soda cup and was anxious for my pie. I maybe waited about 10 - 15 minutes and then when it came out...yes, just what I had been anticipating! The pie looked terrific. It was 8 slices for a small and it had large pieces of Canadian bacon layered around every slice. And the pie was baked nice and golden brown and a little on the more well done side which is just the way I like my pizzas. In all I was very happy with the appearance. And the taste delivered! Woohoo! Each bite I took had a crispy crunch to it with the right amount of dough, sauce and cheese. The pizza was almost perfect, lol...but more it was exactly what I had been yearning for. I slowly took my time eating...refilled my soda cup a bunch of times and relaxed for a little after hiking for miles on end the previous days. In all, Cruisers was the ideal place that I needed to reenergize myself after my time at Mount Rainier. And from here in Packwood I was headed to Mt. St. Helens along my cross country journey. Cruiser Pizza really was top notch for me, especially after discovering it on a whim and without any prior knowledge about it while driving through Packwood. Cruisers is a solid option to satisfy a hungry stomach or a pizza craving! We came by on 8/30/2020 for takeout while staying at a nearby campground prior to our Mt. Rainier backpacking trip. This would be our last non-freeze-dried meal for a few days, so we were looking forward to carb-ing up. There was a line to order, along with calls coming in from people ordering and cars lined up outside for their to-go orders, so it seems like Cruisers is pretty popular. We saw a few people sitting inside to eat, but we opted for one of the three picnic tables out front and waited for our pizzas to come out. (If you're a PoGo player, there are a few nearby gyms you can take over while you're waiting for your food. Like Beth M. and others mentioned, it can take a while.) FOOD: + Tater tots: these aren't on their printed menu, but check out the additional options on the "Combo Meals" board to the right of the cashier's (see photo). One member of our party was tempted to get the deep fried pickles, but the tater tots won out. We got the large size and were super glad we did. These came out first and we quickly devoured them - they were hot, crispy and absolutely delicious. + Packwood Special pizza: pepperoni, green pepper, onions, and... cashews?! We were pretty interested in how the cashews would go with the pizza, and it turned out surprisingly good. There were a ton of toasted cashews on top, which added a wonderful crunch and flavor. + Garlic chicken pizza: chicken breast, green onion, onion, tomato, white garlic sauce: the white garlic sauce was creamy and made this one on the heavier side. The fresh tomato slices on top helped balance it out a bit and add a more refreshing aspect to it, but the Packwood Special was definitely our favorite of the two. The pizza crust itself was also really good - it was thick enough to hold all of the toppings (and there were a LOT of toppings) while still letting the toppings shine, the inside was fluffy, and it was toasted to a nice crispy level on the bottom without becoming hard. OVERALL: An order of large tater tots and a large pizza (half and half) was more than enough to satisfy four hungry stomachs - we couldn't finish the last slice of pizza without becoming uncomfortably full. I'd definitely come back for the tater tots and Packwood Special if I'm in the area again. read more

Crispy exterior, soft interior. Amazing. And there were 12 of them - a number divisible by 2, 3, 4, and 6. So nice. Why do restaurants serve appetizers in groups of 5 and 7 so often? The four of us each got 3 breadsticks. Perfect. The pizza is a round, thicker pizza but not Chicago-style, deep dish thick. The cheese on top gets hit with the broiler and it's just yummy. The crust is like their breadsticks, so it's out of this world. My wife ordered a burger which she said was "pretty good!" I tried her curly fries. I think we tried to be adventurous and got burgers 1 night, but that was disappointing. Stick with the pizza...their tots are good too. We ordered their Large 3 topping special for $20. It fed 3 adults easily with a few slices of leftovers. I recommend you call in your order ahead of time but there's only 1 line to the cashier regardless if you've ordered ahead of time or not, so there most likely will still be a wait. Very very slim pickings in Packwood food-wise - so if you have access to a kitchen, I recommend you haul your own groceries into town and cook instead.
