    Biscuits and Gravy

We stopped by this place early morning on a Monday on our way out of Mt. Rainier. The breakfast was really quite incredible. Everything from the biscuits and gravy and country fried steak, to the cooking it the eggs and pancakes. The service was fast, quality, and kind. I always appreciate a waitress that doesn't even need to write down the orders for a table of four and then just nails it.

We needed a place to eat along highway 12, so glad we stopped here. Quick service, decent food.

Standard breakfast for hubby, reminding us of our hometown diners in Tennessee. Yummy, definitely a solid breakfast place !

We truly enjoyed this place in Morton, WA. Went for breakfast but would come back for lunch or dinner!

Stopped in for lunch on the way to our campsite near Randle, and was pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. The interior feels half dive bar, half diner, and combined, makes for a cozy country café experience. Our waitress was extremely friendly and sociable, if a little befuddled at times, and engaged our kids in conversation while taking our order. The cuisine is your typical classic American diner fare: burgers, breakfasts, sandwiches and hearty dinners. Our orders came swift out of the kitchen, and included three kids burger baskets, the bacon cheeseburger for me, and The Gobbler sandwich (a relatively new item on the menu, we were told) for my wife. Everything was hot, fresh, juicy and tasty, as they should be, and portion sizes were significant without being overwhelming. The ratio of quality to price was definitely on point here. A good sign for any restaurant is if the kids actually finish their meals, which they did; all three baskets were barren afterward. All of them were, actually. I don't think we left with a single left over to supplement our campground cuisine! Previously, Morton was never more than a blip on a map to me; a place to pass through on the way to other places. That changed after our experience at Papa Bears this last weekend. Next time we are in the vicinity, I suspect we'll be hitting the brakes, putting on the blinker, and heading to Papa Bears.

Wonderful local establishment--don't miss this place if you're in the area! I ordered the Captain's Platter, & the chock full of the freshest seafood, very lightly battered--& the clam strips are the best I've ever had! I enjoyed a Pear Cider with dinner, & it was perfect! Their coleslaw is very fresh, but I'd prefer it with a bit of dressing (which I grew up with in Indiana) to hold the components together. This is "the place the locals go", so don't expect "fancy"--expect being comfortable & enjoying great food & drinks! Families enjoy dining here--you simply can't go wrong! Service is friendly & fast! Next time, I'd love to try the Patty Melt with Onion Rings, but the seafood is so good, it will be a tough decision!

This is a amazing small town restaurant with a very homey vibe, amazing food, great service and a vast array of delicious foods on their menu. I got the Philly cheese steak with chicken but ended up with beef in my sandwich. Honestly though I have no complaints with my experience and loved this place, popping through on my trip.

Meat lovers omelet with sourdough bread and coffee

Food was great and portions were huge. Didn't think it was that big and as usual, I order with my eyes rather than my stomach. The meat lovers omelet would have been enough if I shared with another individual. The server was very nice and helpful with suggestions. This place was the perfect spot to stop after leaving Mt rainier National park. Lots of free street parking in a cool little town. Stop by if you're hungry because you'll definitely leave full and satisfied. Two clean restrooms unisex private restrooms and a chill vibe.

Captain's platter. I don't know how they are able to serve this for 16.99 but it's freaking good.

At first glance it seems rather -- bleak. Four tables, a pair of pool tables, a large video golf game. A small counter that once had some seating but now doesn't. It may be necessary to get the server's attention because they are pretty busy in the lounge. Yeah, ambience-wise this place leaves a lot to be desired. But this little place has some of the best diner food in town. The portions are large. Substitutions are not a problem. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Their burgers and sandwiches are burly and always fresh, I am not exaggerating, some of the best burgers in Olympia. Hot food is served really hot, straight off the grill. Fries have to take a minute to be cool enuf to eat. Salads tend to be iceberg lettuce based but are always crisp and fresh. To be clear, this is all pub/diner fare, nothing fancy. The coffee, alas, is the same weak stuff everybody else serves. But for food that will tame the meanest hangover or Jumpstart a miserable rainy day, this is one of the best places.in town.

Cozy atmosphere. There were 3 employees that night, the woman who initially waited on us actually appeared to roll her eyes when we ordered. She seemed pretty rushed and just didn't want to work that night or something. The bartender was friendly and came for our second round and he actually seemed more welcoming and friendly. The drinks menu is a bit small (compared to other nearby bars). We got 5 drinks, one espresso one which wasn't great and the rest were alright. Nothing that made us go "Oh man, try that!" but they weren't bad either. The food, looks better than normal bar food, which I loved. We ordered "Balls of Gibralter" - North African meatballs, which were *SO GOOD*, so delicious EXCEPT the texture. The flavors were all amazing, but it was as if there was too much egg and not enough breadcrumbs because it gave the impression of being wildly undercooked, even though you could see no pink. If they were firmer, they would've been perfect. They seem to have a rotating grilled cheese special I wouldn't mind checking out next time. The ambiance-lovely. We initially walked in just to look at the menu, and everything sounded good enough that we decided to stay. It felt like a nice dinner restaurant, even though it wasn't very busy, which makes sense for a smaller town. Ray ordered the chef salad with blue cheese dressing and a bowl of French onion soup. I ordered the Thai chicken wings, and they were absolutely delicious. The sauce was full of flavor, and the wings were not skimpy at all--large, meaty, and very satisfying. There were about six wings, and I couldn't even finish them all. The French onion soup was impressive--not basic at all, with a more elevated, "fancy" flavor profile. The salad was fresh, crisp, and well prepared. You can definitely tell there's a good chef in the kitchen. Our server, Maria, was excellent--very kind, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The atmosphere was very quiet ! If we ever pass through Chehalis again, this will definitely be a place we return to. Highly recommend giving it a try.
