Things really picked up after we ordered. Good for them. After a long wait which is understandable when things are busy we see multiple tables served before we received our carryout. I challenge the waiter on what was going on, points fingers at others. Maybe this is fair, however nobody takes responsibility. This place is serving gas-station-level food at a much higher price, but the food was honestly the least of my concerns. The service was absolutely terrible. I'm 18, so I obviously cannot drink alcohol. I ordered food and waited for service, but apparently the only way to actually get someone's attention is to walk over to the bar yourself. When I went over there trying to get help with my order, I was yelled at and made into a scene by one of the servers. All I wanted was the food I had already ordered. I understand that working in food service can be exhausting. I'm 18 and have worked as a server myself. I know there are bad days, difficult customers, and times when you simply don't feel like smiling. But when you're working with the public, basic courtesy and professionalism still matter. You don't have to love your job every second, but you should at least treat people with respect. What makes this especially frustrating is that this is a small town that gets a huge amount of tourism from people visiting Mount Rainier. This restaurant has an opportunity to leave visitors with a great impression of the area, and instead the experience I had was rude, disorganized, and unnecessarily hostile. I really hope management sees this review and takes it seriously. The food needs improvement, but the service needs even more attention. Train your staff, communicate with customers, and treat people like human beings. That shouldn't be too much to ask. read more

We were staying in town that night and stopped here for a bite to eat. It's a typical bar/grill setting, with juke box music playing and tv's showing a ball game. Our server was friendly and checked on us several times during our meal. Our meals were cooked just right, both the ribeye steak and the grilled chicken. Both meats were flavorful and moist. My chicken came covered with yummy mushrooms and onions. The meals came with a nice sized dinner salad, a roll, and either potato or mixed veggies. I chose the veggies and they were still just a tad crunchy, not mushy like you sometimes get in a restaurant. If we lived in this area, we would eat here regularly. read more

Yes, the Blue Spruce Saloon is a dingy dark dive. Yes, we have witnessed the staff shout across the room at each other and customers. Yes, there are limited food options in Packwood since it's a small pass-through village without a single stop light but here's the deal, it doesn't matter. The food isn't 5-star but it's great for a dive bar. The appetizer list is extensive with plenty of options, the main menu has something for everyone (hot & cold sandwiches, burgers, wraps, steaks, and salads). Hubs is a sucker for a Reuben and devoured theirs along with the thick potato salad. Oh! And the pie, delicious. We've been here several times. There are rules of what can be played on the juke box, we enjoyed the pull-tabs, had a couple beers, and a couple cocktails. We will definitely stop here again on our way through. read more

We were a large group of 15 and the waitress was amazing. She asked if we wanted to do separate checks (3 families) which was very considerate. Drinks and food all came quickly and was all accurate! My "prawns" were GFS butterflied shrimp. Same crap you get at a typical FF joint. Completely false advertising. I believe the menu was deceptive!! The place was decent but the lights were so low you couldn't tell if it's dirty or just old inside. The wait staff was blunt but was still unable to communicate what size/weight the chicken chunks were. "Like it's a whole basket full"..... like what kinda basket??? This place is fantastic! We had the beer catered cod with tots. I normally don't like fried food, but me and hubby ordered since I like fish and he likes fried foods. The tots were so fluffy and flavorful. The cod was also super delicious. Then we had rhubarb /strawberry pie with ice cream....so good! Absolutely horrible service. We are locals and frequent regularly. The wait staff is never great but the food is good. Tonight we were greeted by a young waitress who threw our menus at us and because of that we did not order food just a drink. We just thought she was having a bad day. She was totally rude. I gave her a 50 percent tip thinking she would be nice. No she grabbed it and on her way. I will never go there again. We observed all the waitresses were rude and not nice. Such a great pit stop on US 12 with a delicious menu! It was decorated for Christmas when we stopped which was so festive and pretty! The staff were friendly and attentive! We met some locals and learned some history of the town, so fun! We had a pastrami sandwich and a chicken wrap, both with side salads. Everything was great! read more

So I have been here a handful of times. You would think that a small town bar like this would be friendly and welcoming. The bartenders do not have great attitudes. They act like they are doing you a favor when you finally get their attention. It wasn't even busy. This place is lucky that there's not another place that serves hard liquor in the vicinity. Also, why are you charging me $.50 for a tiny side of blue cheese for $15 chicken wings? Last time I checked every other place on the planet gives you at least one sauce of some kind. If you are a local and thinking about opening your own small town bar this is the place. You would take most of their business, despite the longevity of the establishment. I lose count on how many times we've grab food here. It was summertime and Blue Spruce is the only restaurant in the area that closes late. So most nights we grab dinner here and let me tell you, it was always a good service every time. Staffs were friendly and despite the busy office staff were still able to check on us from time to time. Never judge an eatery unless you've tried dining-in. We almost tried every dinner menu they got and some sandwiches for brunch or to-go for the road/trail. Love their baked chicken and hamburger dishes - really tasty. Their sandwiches are pretty good too and filling above all. The dressing on their green salad is so good! Yum... Every night they gets super busy and people come and go to play some gambling game. They got jukebox in here too. Can be noisy at times but if you are just like us that comes here to dine and try to take care of our stomach then be their guest. Just passing through Packwood, decided to try this neat looking bar. Wasn't a big fan of the water in a gallon bucket, so I brought in my redbull. Instead of asking in a better manner, the waitress decides to say "sorry no outside drinks," and tries to take it out of my hand. I threw it away and would've gladly if she had asked. Not a bad saloon to go to. We went here when we went to Packwood last summer. Curiosity was really what brought me here. Since we were in a part of the state we don't go to often I wanted to see if they had beer taps or cider taps from businesses we may have not visited before. And sure enough there was a cider on tap from a nearby town that we haven't tried before. So the curiosity paid off. What was even more of an advantage is that this cidery doesn't have their own tasting room and appears to be production only(I believe the cidery was out of Eatonville) so it made us feel even better stepping in here. Staff is decent. Some are more friendly than others and it's a bit sluggish in speed but I attribute that to being in the era of a pandemic, summer and a very, very busy little town filled with tourists. read more

Went to get take out for dinner. First red flag, the sign. Snarky blaming of the governor for the necessary mask mandate. I go in and see most of the staff wearing their masks below their noses. A cook comes out of the kitchen...no mask. The place is pretty crowded, tables didn't seem distanced. I begin to order, the server with her nose exposed, and as I continue I notice her nose is red. She sniffs. Probably allergies or the sniffles, but I've seen enough. I cancel my order and bail. They are not following mandates.
