Gym itself is good, lots of cardio equipment in comparison to the crunch in Fairmount. They could use more weight equipment though, or just a few newer pieces of equipment. It's a smaller gym so it gets packed at times. My main complaint is the fact that they allow a group of people run around making content with their tripods, it makes it uncomfortable for others in the gym, and there's also some dude that is constantly barefoot at the punching bags. AVOID. Negative five stars. At first, it is a decent gym, but they try to scam you when you freeze or cancel your account. I froze my account last year and was charged for the next month. When I asked about it, instead of giving me a refund, they offered to give me a free month when I unfroze, which was strange, but I accepted. Once that was settled, I received confirmation that my account was frozen with the statement "UNFREEZE AT ANY TIME". Everything was seemingly fine. Fast-forward: I received numerous calls saying my payments were declined to Crunch Fitness, which I ignored because my account was frozen. Finally, I received a call from a "debt collector," which I found out was a fake debt collector and was just a scam to try and threaten me to pay not only my "missed payments" but even more to account for the late fees and costs of the "collector." I called Crunch to settle this, and they claimed that there was a time limit on how long you can freeze your account, which is not consistent with what was written in my email confirmation, and they claimed that I was given a free month and charged for five months from August - January, with no notification through email of my account being re-activated. I wasn't even in Syracuse during August, so I didn't even get to use my free month and I didn't end up ever unfreezing my account. Come to find out online, buried in the depths of a freezing policy statement, it says frozen status maxes out at twelve weeks. My account was frozen in July. That was only four weeks. Not only did they claim I could unfreeze it any time numerous times, they never mentioned anything of this policy, and they didn't even give me a frozen account for the full duration of this policy. I thought Brandon, the manager, made a mistake when he first "forgot" to freeze my account last year, but after my experience and reading several yelp reviews I realize that he did it on purpose to try to scam me just as he does with others. While the amount of money I supposedly owe them (when in reality they owe me for a month) is not a terribly high amount, I've read cases on Yelp of people being robbed of up to thousands of dollars. Save your wallets. Calling the other day, the manager claimed they went under new management, and the old management messed up a lot, which was why my account was initially not frozen, leading to this whole thing, but upon further research, the manager is, in fact, still Brandon. This was a small lie that was told to me, which has little implication on all the events that went down, but showed me that no one can trust them. There is a high likelihood that a bot replies to this saying thank you for your concern, we appreciate your feedback and will be sure that this never happens again, meanwhile it has been happening at Crunch since the dinosaurs went extinct with no change. One last thing: they advertise prices of $15.99/month but then slap on an annual fee for "upkeep of gym equipment," which is whatever. Then, when you check your bank statements every month, you are being charged $17.99. I have had bad experiences with gyms before, but none for reasons that come anything close to this. Go literally anywhere else. I don't care how desperate you are to lift weights. It's not worth it. read more

Advertised prices are not real. They will woo you with 17 dollar a month and charge you with 70 dollar annual fee. If you try to cancel they will still charge you one month fee and the annual fee. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I've never had such an issue with cancelling a gym membership in my life. I cancelled my membership at the beginning of this year and randomly started getting charged again in May. Each time I call, someone tells me that they don't have a manager at the moment and I should expect a call back. I have called 5 times now and have yet to get a call back. This has been going on for weeks and it's the same excuse everytime. I keep getting emails stating that I have a balance to pay when I cancelled my membership so long ago and haven't been to this place in months...Good luck cancelling your membership if you decide to go here. In short, it's a gym. Not a terrible gym, but just under "ok". It's a cliche, big-chain, un-personal kind of gym you'd expect from the brand. If you're just looking to pay dues, which aren't unreasonable, get a workout in (especially if it's cardio, see below), and leave--there's nothing wrong with Crunch Dewitt. Perhaps the only "positive" is that it's always really clean. ;) Details of my own personal experience to support 2 stars: - They charge an annual fee, even on "monthly" memberships. - Membership dues doubled, without notice. Likely because my initial year ended, and I didn't "recommit". - It's 100% likely that both points above are outlined in my agreement, but you CAN'T get to it in their sub-par app. Tapping the link shows a blank page. Convenient. - Unfriendly staff, unless you're of monetary value beyond a basic membership (e.g., upgraded membership, PT client, influencer). There's definitely a clique feeling, which is kind of off putting. - A billion pieces of cardio equipment, of which less than 1/4 get used when busy, but a very limited numbers of those pieces that matter (bench presses = 2, seated calf raise = 1, leg press =1, hack squat = 1). I once waited, patiently, an hour for one of those, where another member completed 3 sets in that hour. Cut the cardio in half, which is still plenty, and increase the numbers of highly utilized pieces. - No mirrors in front of of 2 of their 4 platforms, when there easily could be. Small detail they couldn't care less about. - I can't speak on PT, as I never had the chance to be upsold into a package. Sent emails to get my Crunch One scheduled, all without response. That was over a year ago. - Constant plumbing issues. Just recently, half of the toilets and urinals in the men's locker room are out of order. This happens about once a month or so. - Filter status lights on the water fountain (bottle filler) are ALL mysteriously off. There's a prior review about the light here being on red. Now NO status lights? So...how can we be confident that the filter is even working? - Staff looks the other way when members vape. This is just disgusting. And yes, I've told them via manager@. I'm not one to write reviews but this is so bad I wanted to warn others to not make the same mistake. If I could give ZERO stars I would. Stay FAR away from this place. Nothing but scammers for your money! They over charged me $2,032 in ONE month! I talked to Brandon multiple times and he swore it wasn't a mistake and refused to refund me any money. After looking at my contract that I signed which verified I was correct, I went to my bank to file a dispute and thankfully was able to get my money back. I'd write a review on their Facebook page too, but they blocked that feature probably because of the many negative reviews they continue to have. I was traveling to Syracuse and needed a place to workout on the road and my other gym chain is not in the area. This gym popped up on my radar and I decided to give it a shot. This gym is super clean and well maintained. Every time I've gone, all of the weights have been organized, the machines are clean and nothing is broken. The locker rooms and bath rooms are well maintained also. Honestly, this gym is cleaner than my hometown gym. For $10/month, I think it would be hard to beat. If I was going to be in the area long-term, this would be my go-to gym. I look forward to working out here again on my next visit! read more

Just joined the gym and I think it's amazing. This is the best gym in town and it's the cheapest as well. The gym opened less than a year ago so it's squeaky clean with brand new equipment. It's bright, airy, and the location is killer on Erie Blvd. My routine is roughly 4x / week. I strength train by myself 3 out of the 4 days and on the 4th day I like to do small group training. I usually do one of the HIIT classes. It's basically small group personal training and is awesome. read more

Paid for a full year which was a huge mistake. Was very excited that they were in Syracuse. I used to belong to one in NYC. They had great classes and a huge variety. Unfortunately, the Syracuse location has horrible classes that never start on time. One women teaches most classes and I'm pretty sure she does not have her yoga certificate. Boring empty classes. Returning to the gym after Covid was the worst. People running on treadmill without mask , also yelling at another man near him. No one did anything. Class was late again and was told it was inside not outside, finally instructor comes in yelling at me because I dare ask for the classes to start on time. At this point they cancelled my membership without my permission and I'm fighting to get my ,$200 back. No one answers customer service from corporate. NO ONE WILL HELP YOU. This has to be one of the nicest gyms I've ever been to (and I've been to a lot, trust me). Brand new machines, great value, the place is spacious, bright, and everything is squeaking clean. Incase anyone needs a step by step guide on how to enjoy a nice gym, here's mine: - Get checked in by the world's most cheerful front desk employee (Rebecca), bonus points if you can get her to show you photos of her puppy. - Take your first HIITZone class, words can't describe how fun this class was, but your sore body will the next day. - Treat yourself and relax with their hydro massage and sauna machines. - What doesn't scare you, will literally make you stronger, ask their trainers for help. My membership included one session with a personal trainer of your choice. I worked with Sienna to learn how to use all the different weight machines on the floor. Wow, this is an awesome location. I was considering a Planet Fitness membership down the street before I came across this place. This has got to be the best gym in town. The staff is friendly, the location is extremely convenient, and the equipment is brand new and in tip top shape. I had a few issues with my membership and Evan (not sure if he is the manager or not) helped me resolve it very quickly. It was a breeze of the process and he was not pushy at all. This gym has the most ridiculous cancellation policy I have ever heard of. I belonged to another Crunch gym and they did not give me nearly as many issues when it came to cancelling. At the DeWitt gym, I had the hardest time cancelling my membership as I had to write them a hand written note and send it to them. I was not able to cancel online or over the phone like I was at my previous Crunch. Very easy to join this gym, but very difficult to cancel. It is very shady and not worth the price. First time at a Crunch gym, for my experience i thought it was pretty good gym. I got a three day trial bc I had work up here in Syracuse and needed a gym. Locker rooms were clean, staff friendly. I used to really love this gym. Management got sloppy. We would be there when the gym was supposed to open and on multiple occasions, no one showed up. Waited a half hour one time and finally went home. Very annoying. You can tell the showers are never cleaned which sucks too. Canceling was really annoying as you had to go in to do it and I was still charged for the next month which I didn't understand and the person at the front desk was no help and pretty rude. This morning, General Manager Brandon Dumais revoked my membership. I am one of Crunch Dewitt's founding members. This morning, the gym was closed until 10:00am due to a few inches of snow, which is nothing new in Syracuse, New York. Obviously, the General Manager forgot that we live in a place that snows. I had asked to speak with the owner of the gym, and for a point of contact to file a complaint. The manager refused to give any information to file a compliant, which seems as if he is trying to protect himself more than manage the gym and revoked my membership rather than give me information to file a complaint. Lately, the gym has not been opening on time. This has never happened before. On top of that, the equipment in the gym is always broken and never gets fixed anymore. The locker rooms are disgusting and smells like urine. Soap dispensers are always either empty or broken. I've been at this gym since it originally opened and was my main gym since that point. After Brandon took over it just has gotten worse and worse and has brought me to use Hercules gym instead as my main gym. I (would have) still kept Crunch as a secondary gym because I did like doing certain workouts there but apparently I am now revoked? Frankly, if a member can't be given information to file a complaint to improve the services, it would drive me to cancel. However, the ownership and upper management need to be aware. Today, not only did I sit in the parking lot for a hour, I didn't even get to workout! Just because I asked who I could contact, he decided to revoke my membership? Luckily for me, every other gym (that you compete against) was open! Blink fitness was open at normal hours this morning, thankfully. Looks like that will be my second gym.
